I'm thinking of doing a dash swap on my 99 super duty to the 2008 super duty dash, steering wheel, etc. I know the od in my truck is mechanical and in the new one its electronical is it possible to swap without having to redue the whole electrical system and computer? Is the steering wheel going to line up and the ducting? How should i approach the wiring?
View 14 Replies I have a 2016 F250 XL and I want to put smaller outside rear view mirrors on her. I thought I can't be the first person to want to do this but repeated searches haven't turned up a bit of information.
I have the stock XL black plastic tow mirrors. They are manual extension and manual fold in. No heat, no lights, nothing. I want to go to a smaller, non-towing mirror like comes on stock F150's, chrome would be OK. In about 18 months I will want to go back to my trailer towing setup. I need to be narrow for a while.
I have a 2003 f250 4x4 with a 5.4 motor the automatic trans is shot. I can get a replacement trans from 2000 f250 4x4 with the v10 motor. I tried my best to research it bell housing supposed to be the same so it should fit. But I'm not sure what they changed in those years internally or electronically.

View 3 RepliesMy 450 has all power to lights and aux but no dash lights and only the airbag light will illuminate on the dash and the truck won't start there is absolutely any power being transferred to the starter. It only happens after rain or increasing humidity it seems.
View 14 RepliesDriving the truck today I noticed mssg from info on dash " problem with trailer wiring". I wasn't hauling anything. the message went away on my next stop when a truck was turned off. On my next stop, I was pulling into a parking space truck stalled and I saw another message saying something like " please pull over safely and stop a truck." Luckily I was already parked. the truck would not start or even turn over. after about an hour truck started but brake symbol was on the dash.

I am more curious than anything what separated an F250 from F350 in this year range.
Do a topper off a 2005 f-250 shortbox will fit on a 2015 f-250 shortbox? Other than the tailgate step, I can't think of any other differences.

Am I the only one who thinks the tire pressure monitoring system is a silly feature? Is there any way to delete this and stop the light from coming up on the dash? I want to do new wheels and tires on my 2008 f250 and I don't want to deal with the tpms. Can it be tuned out from the computer?

View 3 RepliesLove my '11 f250 SD 4WD CC SB. 6.2 with 3.73 e-locker. I've got 5 Star tunes in it, and the truck is a joy to drive empty, and tows my current 7k camper fine, though on steep inclines I wish I had the 4:30 gears.
Well, we just bought a bigger trailer, dry weight is an addtl 2400+ at 9400, so I'll need to do something.
I don't want a different truck, don't want (another trouble-prone) diesel. I think with 4:30s and the tune, I should be fine towing that trailer (with gear and passengers, probably 11-11.5k loaded). Not doing mountains here, just Michigan hills.
What's the best way to "do" a gear swap? I know if I buy a set of gears and a shop screws Em up, it's gonna whine/hum and still cost 2k to do (truck is 4wd)
I'm up in the boonies and finding a shop to swap the gears will be a problem. Getting Em done right will be even MORE trouble.
Can I just find 4:30 axles ans have them swapped (anything in t-case or sensors need to be touched?). I don't care if I lose the e-locker, I never use it.

View 8 RepliesFinally finshed the installing the new motor. Motor cranks but wont start. I have spark on all cylinders. Pressure in fuel rail but not sure how much. I don't hear any "clicking" coming from the fuel injectors. i measured the resistance on the injectors and its good. I just went out and got a new battery for it. I am not sure where to go from here.

View 3 RepliesI just went from 3.73 to 4.30 gears on my 2007 f250 6.0. It has the standard Sterling 10.5 rear and Dana 60 front. My mechanic friend who did the swap said the ABS light came on during his test drive but the truck drove fine. I was of the understanding that the truck would not need to be recalibrated for proper speedometer and transmission function, but what about the ABS?
