On my 05 Super Duty, the gauge light for the fuel and oil pressure are out. The needles are still illuminated red but the backlight for the gauges are dark. Are these replaceable bulbs or are they a circuit board diode or something that can't be easily replaced?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 F550, v10. At idle, the oil pressure gauge drops and the red oil light comes on. If I hit the gas, the gauge pops back up. I swapped out the oil pressure switch. That didn't fix the problem.
I thought maybe the gauge was faulty, so I bought a 2 inch mechanical oil pressure gauge and hooked that up, leaving the factory gauge disconnected.
I watched the oil pressure start around 50 psi cold, and it slowly fell to 10-15 psi as it warmed up. The truck has 65k miles on it. There is no knocking, no ticking, no loss of performance.
I cannot imagine that at 65k miles, that it would be a worn engine. Right??
So we had a subzero weather week last week and on one of the below zero days by low tire pressure light goes on - on my dash. I've checked all 4 tires and they are not low. Do I have a bad sensor? Or is the cold causing this?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 f250 with the 5.4. from what I have read i should have the 38 gallon tank. i have been really questioning the accuracy of my fuel gauge on empty with the light on 25 gallons and the fuel pump will click off and after i drive i can park and my fuel gauge will read lower than what it was when i pulled into the driveway with. me and the wife went driving yesterday and we pulled back into the driveway on half a tank this morning I went to go run some errands and when i started the truck the gauge was almost on a quarter of a tank my driveway is flat and after driving for about 35 minutes the gauge was still in the same spot and did not move up nor down.
I have a locking gas cap cover so i know someone is not taking gas out. I have changed the fuel filter and tried numerous different fuel system cleaners to try and see if maybe the contacts on the float in the tank are dirty nothing has changed or gotten any better. I have checked the wire harness from the top of the tank and followed it up under the hood and found no drop in voltage or cracked or damaged wires. I checked with my multi-meter I used my fluke meter not some cheap one. Don't know if the gauge is reading less or more from getting gas i am thinking it is showing less than what is in the tank. What could be my problem?
Got to work this morning, sitting at idle for a few minutes in parking lot, all of a sudden fuel gauge needle drops to below 'E' and the fuel light comes on and beeps. I know I have at least 1/2 tank of fuel. What would cause this?

Is there a way to adjust this light so it will come on with maybe 20-30 miles to go before running out? Its seems to only have maybe a gallon in the tank when this light comes on...

He says he'll take off in the morning and the fuel gauge will randomly drop to empty and trigger the low fuel light, but then also the Check Engine Light will come on. My brother did a code scan and no codes come up. Where we should be looking to remedy this one?
View 14 RepliesI had my fuel filters changed at the dealership today on my '15, and then I bought fuel and headed home (70 miles). About half way home I got a "Low Fuel Pressure" message and a little while after that "Reduced Engine Power" along with the check engine light.
I pulled over to see if they did something like leave the drain open, thinking it might be sucking air. Of course it was dark and I could not see anything. However I did hear a buzzing sound and could feel a vibration when I touched the fuel line going into the top of engine filter.
While it is possible I got bad fuel, I suspect they did something wrong installing the filters. Even after cycling the fuel pump multiple times they had a hard time getting it started afterwards; I think they finally disconnected the top fuel line to bleed the air out.
I continued home and made it, but not sure what to do now; its 70 miles back to the dealer.
What is the most likely problem? Improper fuel filter installation or bad fuel?
Should I pull the filters in the morning see if there is something obvious like an out-of-place gasket? If so, top or bottom filter?
Is this a tow truck affair or should I drive 70 miles back to the dealer?
What the heck is the buzzing sound?
Just about every trip i take my temp gauge pegs and dinger goes off and check gauges lights up in the message center. It eventually will go back to normal or if i shut key off and restart truck it goes to normal. im guessing it is the temperature sensor for the gauge but not sure?? If it is, where is the gauge sensor located?
View 14 RepliesEverything was working fine, getting down to about 1/4 tank. I do the usual, fill up, startup, reset the trip, and look at my level and it hasn't changed, neither has the 'km until E'. What would cause this? Failed Sender? No check engine light (yet). I guess I'll be watching the trip meter for a while.
View 8 Replies2000 v10 f350 single tank...fuel gauge is stuck on full. I'm on the road so I don't have my drawings so I tried some quick troubleshooting. If I remember right 160k or so is full and 20k ohms is empty...so I unplugged the sender from the harness which should be open and the gauge should read empty. With key on its reading full. I then followed the harness and unplugged it near the brake booster...key on it reads full. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong before I rip the dash apart.
View 6 Replies1999 F250 V10 gas. I changed out the fuel pump, and now the gauge doesn't work. Checked all fuses - they're good. Is there any possibility that I could have accidentally pinned the float under the pickup sock, or got it hung somewhere? Is this a common occurrence? Don't really want to drop the tank again - but looks like I will have to in order to check/fix.....
View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 ford F 250 with V-10 engine with fuel gauge stuck. The problem started in the winter a couple years back on a cold night when I fueled the truck with it running. The fuel gauge never went down. I assume this would indicate a stuck float? I dropped the tank and noticed a loose yellow wire. I can't see that the wire was attached anywhere though? A V-10 is not the engine to be guessing with on fuel...

View 9 RepliesEver since January My fuel gauge has been acting up big time. I can have any amount of gas in my tank at any given time and the fuel gauge will fall to empty resulting in the fuel and check engine light coming on. The gauge will then return to its position (it still doesn't read correctly) and the check engine light will stay on. I took it to the ford dealer and they said to replace the entire fuel sending unit assembly. I bought the oem motorcraft fuel sending unit assembly and did it myself. The only problem is, I still have the issue. I'm currently checking fuses and relays, By the way, my truck is a 2004 f250 fx4 5.4
View 2 RepliesYesterday went to fill up ($4.05 a gallon geezz!) and noticed that after getting back into the cab, the fuel gauge still showed almost empty. So after yelling a few expletives, I looked again and noticed the gauge starting to make it's way up the dial. It took almost 30 min. before it showed almost full. I'm not sure what the problem is, as the gauge seems to still function. I don't drive the truck much as I use it as a tow vehicle. However, I do try and take it for a spin about 3-4 times a month just to exercise it. I was wondering if the fuel has started to gel and that is the reason for the slow fuel gauge response. Should I add a fuel conditioner/cleaner now that I have a full tank?
View 9 RepliesI have an 03 f350 4x4 cc long bed and I seem to be having a problem with my fuel gauge. It doesn't show the true amount of what's in the tank and because of that I have run out of fuel a few times.
sometimes when I'm driving the light will come on and the gauge will drop all the way to empty then a little later it will go to almost full even with only putting 10 gals in the tank.
Any fix for this or do I need to replace the sending unit?
I have 03 F-250 with a 5.4 in it. Recently noticed the gas gauge is not moving much and seems like it will not go below half a tank. The gauge will go up however when i put gas in it. I just put techtron in it last night to see if this might work. Wasn't to sure if i did a battery reset on the truck if that may work as well.
View 2 RepliesI just replaced my fuel pump to avoid another tow truck ride and now my fuel gauge is off. I filled up the truck today and the fuel gauge is only showing half a tank. I turned the truck on and off several times to try to reset it, but that didn't work.
Truck is a 2003 with the 5.4.
1999 F250 7.3 240k miles .... This is the second truck to act like this on me after I cleaned the in tank filters.
I had to cut the fpr spring to 30lbs for the truck to start fine cold and idle ok but has no power. When hot it wants to die and or dies at idle and has next to no power. ( I'm guessing from lack of fuel) but it's the only way for me to use it. With a new spring and 60ish lbs of fuel pressure, they won't even start.
I cleaned the in tank filters. New fuel filter. new oil. rebuilt the ipr. unplugged the ipc. no loss of boost. checked my uvch, wiggled all harnesses with no difference. I also tried dropping the tank again in case I pinched the return line but that made no difference.
I'm guessing that I need new injectors. I'm not close to anyone with a computer nor can I afford to throw away any more money at the moment.
Totally stumped and cannot seem to find a definitive answer online so far. Both trucks ran somewhat ok before and got worst once I dropped the tank and cleaned the filters which increased the fuel pressure. This is my second truck to act this way.
