I can't find canister pressure valve hose. It looks cut from the pressure valve in some way. Tried following it from gas tank but I've lost it through the chassis.
View 4 RepliesMy uncles 1999 v10 started to leak from the high-pressure hose on the gearbox. Replaced the hose which lasted for a short time but is now leaking at the same spot. The hose swivels, is this normal, seems like a dumb design for a pressure hose. Also is there a certain trick to doing this hose? He also insists on using PS fluid instead of the ATF it calls for. Could this cause a problem with the seal?
Edit: Also the truck has been lifted on 35s since 16k miles and its now roughly at 170k. He tows with it as it is his work truck. But the truck is well taken care of.
My 06 f250 with the 5.4 has a hard time being filled at the pump. So I followed the tsb and replaced the carbon canister, filter box and solenoid with the kit from my local ford dealer. Before it was impossible to get fuel in. Now it is way better but I have to fill it up with the gas nozzle upside down in order to fill at full speed. I have blown out the vent with compressed air.

View 11 RepliesI had a new engine put into my 2006 F350 SD 5.4 last year and ever since then I can't keep the freon charged in my ac. The mechanic said all he did was lay the compressor out of the way and didn't disconnect anything ac related. I have 2 different shops keep my truck for a couple days and neither could find a leak. Yet a month later, freon is low. I think I have more dye in my system than freon.
I put 2 of those ac leak sealers, the ones you have to ask for behind the counter and can keep my ac working for maybe 45 days, then throw 3 cans in it. No dye is showing up nor will the sniffer find anything. I hate to go to the dealer because I figure they will want to replace everything. Any tips other than try another shop and maybe they can find the leak.
Got an '01 f350 v10, auto. When using steering column shifter tends to be hard to find reverse and drive. Is it something in steering column selector or is it in tranny? The truck has 40,000 miles on it. Have a parts truck also so just trying to figure out where to start first.

View 2 RepliesI crawled under my truck today (2011 6.7 w/delete kit, straight pipe) and found a black rigid hose had signs of oil being blown out. The hose was about midway towards the back on the drivers side. There was fresh oil around the outside of the opening of the hose and some on the frame around the hose opening. I traced it back up into the engine into something that I'm not sure what it is and couldn't find it on any engine diagrams. So I've taken some pictures, what it is, what it's connecting to in the engine and why it might be blowing oil out. There isn't a lot, I haven't seen any on the ground where I park but it's obviously coming out, I guess when I drive. Pics attached.....
View 4 RepliesJust picked up my truck from the dealer after a trans flush. While it was there I had them replace both windshield wiper nozzles. They called and told me the hoses needed to be replaced as well--- OKAY fine do it.
Come home and decided to "make sure" the trans fluid was at the correct level.
Open the hood to discover a loose black hose approximately 1/4" or so in diameter coming out of the radiator shroud directly at center of the top. The end of the hose was somewhat towards the passenger side battery.
I figured okay the tech probably just left my old windshield wiper hose on top of the motor and forgot to discard it...
I follow the hose and it appears to go in between the rubber seal for the shroud and the plastic housing. I looked back behind the fan and can see the hose twirled around an aluminum or stainless steel pipe coming up just in front of the fan but behind the numerous condensers...
MY question is two fold: Should this hose be here, or is it indeed the wiper hose that got sucked into the fan?
if it is supposed to be here, what does the end that was leaning towards the passenger battery connect to? it certainly appears to have been previously connected to something whether the washer or some other barbed fitting....
Today I noticed a leak at the heater hose assembly at the right rear of the engine compartment. It appears to have special connectors and that appears to be where the leak is coming from.

Every time I run it I smell gas. I changed the f/p 6mo ago. While I was working on it I noticed there was a hole rubbed in a small hose. I assumed it was a return line (smelled gas before too) and when I fixed it the smell went away until lately. I dropped the tank,yesterday and didn't see any problems. Just need to find out what hoses go where so I can replace the hoses??
I have an '08 250SD diesel. The upper hose that goes onto the water pump has a leak. Is it usually just the Oring or the hose plastic fitting?
View 2 RepliesI have put a new steering pump on my 2002 f250 and all new hydraulic hoses. I plan to install a steering pump filter on the system to protect it from anything that is not steering pump fluid.
There are two intake ports to the steering pump. One is near the bottom of the pump and takes fluid from the steering pump cooler after it has left the steering gear. The other intake port is near the top of the pump and takes fluid from the booster.
My question is - which hose would be better to put a steering pump filter on? Is there anything wrong with putting a filter on both? I imagine the first intake hose is constantly circulating fluid and the other only circulates it when the steering wheel is used.
I bought a 99 f250 super duty with v-10. Ran great then I decided to hose off engine compartment. No pressure washer just running water trying to get all the dirt off now the engine sounds like its missing. Could I have a coil pack that got wet or is something else wrong.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to troubleshoot a leak on my 08' F250 with a 6.4 powerstroke. It's been dripping coolant when cold pretty aggressively. Once the truck heats up, the coolant leak seems to mostly go away.
Here's a picture of the drip, it's marked by a dart, so you can see the location from the top (second pic). The radiator house connection around the engine seems dry.

What's hidden here that could be causing the leak?
This is and 6.0L 04 135000 miles. I was pulling a load up a hill when the turbo back fired this was no fart hose blew off at bottom of rad, hose clamp was gone. I reattached hose but now I have lost some power and getting poor fuel mileage. I think turbo is making a howling noise at higher rpms I pressure tested the system does not seem to be any leaks, I'm assuming there something wrong with the turbo, but is it possible the hose clamp was sucked into the rad?

View 8 RepliesQuick question, 2008 F250, 6.4. If the EGR Valve sticks/malfunctions, can this cause the truck to go into constant/frequent regens? I am asking because I am about to replace my turbo for a seal failure. The only code thrown before turbo failure was EGR flow insufficient. I want to figure out what may have caused the seal failure so that I can get that fixed before I blow through another turbo.
