Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Brake Pads Squeaking A Lot

Feb 20, 2015

I recently replaced all of my brake pads with yellow stuff and they seem to be squeaking a lot. I also noticed when I am driving and I stop and let off of the brakes they don't release immediately so could it be this is the cause of the squeaks or do these brake pads just squeak like crazy? I read somewhere it could possibly be the brake lines but I don't see how this could be the cause for so much squeaking.

My truck is a 2011 F 250 diesel crew cab....

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Getting Front Brake Pads Into Caliper - Springs Kept Popping Out

03 f350 4x4. New front calipers and pads.

Wondering if there's a 'trick' to getting the front brake pads into the caliper . Those damn springs kept popping out. I'd get three of the four ends into place in the pad holes then one would pop out while I'm trying to get the fourth in.

After about a hour of trying every different way that I could think of, another set of hands came by and with four hands holding things in place, it finally did the trick.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Little Wire Spring That Applies Pressure For Brake Pads On Front Disc Brakes Lost

My 18 year old launched the little wire spring thing that applies pressure for the brake pads on front disc brakes. Could have gone in to neighbor's yard! Actually lost one on each side. He put it all back together without one on each side. I said it would still work fine. What's the deal really? Can't be that important are they?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: New Rotors / Pads But Constant Squealing?

I've replaced the pads and rotors on my 97 f250 HD, only to have constant squealing. I've replaced ranger rotors before with no problem but this has been an adventure. It's squeals constantly up to 35, (I've only went up to 35) and squeals louder under braking. Just looking for some pointers. Probably just need a good cleaning. The truck is parked until its fixed more than likely.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 - New Pads And Rotors Still A Horrible Shutter

As the title states I just finished putting pads and rotors on the front of my 04' f250. I have had a terrible shutter almost a bouncing effect while braking over the last week or so, finally got around to doing the work and still no satisfaction! My question is where to go next? Wheel bearings and tires are good, I do get a pretty good wobble/vibration in the pedal while braking. Should I be looking at a brake booster or master cylinder? Or is it possible it's a caliper? Truck goes down the road fine until and brake is applied.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2001 F350 - Extreme Uneven Wear On Rear Pads

Have a 2001 F350 7.3 4X4 with single wheels in rear. Started hearing brakes noise and decided to change both front and rear pads. Front had almost half the pads left. Rear on drivers side had about half the pads left. The passenger side metal to metal on the inboard pad and about half the pad on the outboard side. The slides on the caliper were a little sluggish but moved freely. Don't think there is enough to have them turned so will have to replace the rotors. Why this would happen. Could the caliper get stuck? It was easy enough to compress with a C clamp.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Seat Belt Squeaking?

The top mounting point on my seatbelt is squeaking like crazy. The guide for the seat belt is rubbing on the piece it bolts to because the plastic tabs on the plastic cover have worn out. Where to get a new one of these? Its just the plastic triangle shaped cover that goes over the seatbelt mount.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: New X Code Springs And Now Squeaking

Replaced my old sagging leaf springs with new X code springs. Had an almost impossible time centering the axle even with adjustable center link. Even with it totally maxed out it is just barely centered. Now I have a terrible squeak coming from springs. Is this because of the side loading of springs? Is there any fix for it? Not only do they squeak but the drivers side now sags almost an inch even with brand new springs. 2002 F350. Super annoying and irritating

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 - Doors Squeaking

I posted a reply her a couple of weeks ago on how I fixed my '03 SD's squeaky doors. I went to AutoZone and bought 32 feet of 5/8 inch self-adhesive rubber (not foam) weatherstripping and mounted it around the outside edges of both doors, starting at the top. Presto - squeaks are gone, there are no more drafts and road noise is reduced a little. (I may remove the stripping I put on the side edges of the doors because I think the culprit is actually the rigid polyethylene bumper strip they've mounted on the upper door jam).

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 - Loud Squeaking Noise While Turning

I have an '08 F250 w/ a 6.4. A couple days ago I started getting a loud squeaking when I turn to the right. It only does it under speed, almost like it needs the weight transfer to make the sound. In addition it's only when I turn at a like 45 deg angle, I can turn less or more to make it stop. But it has gotten louder and louder.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Creaking And Squeaking Whenever Start / Stop Or Turn

So, don't know if this is normal or not, but after lifting the rig, I'm experiencing a whole lot of these types of sounds from the leafs or the springs or whatever, whenever I start, stop, or turn. Is there an easy way to silence the noise? I've tried all sorts of lubricants on the leafs and springs, but I only get (at best) a week of muted noises. While it's only an inconvenience, it sure would be nice to have the rig be quiet again.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Steering Wheel Squeaking Sound Inside The Cab

Is there a way to grease the steering shaft or whatever is making the squeaking sound inside the cab when I turn the wheel? It's a 2001 F250 CCSB Lariat and it drives me crazy hearing sounds I shouldn't be hearing. This is certainly not coming from outside the cab but rather in the steering shaft within the cab somewhere. How I can lube that up?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Squeaking Sound Coming From Under Hood In Reverse But Not Moving

So today I was backing up my 11000# fifth wheel at the campground when at 1500-2000 rpm I hear this awful shrieking sound coming from under the hood. I heard it the whole time while backing up and under a load. I never heard it once going forward. So when I get home I put it in reverse and hold the brakes and again I hear this shrieking sound coming from under the hood I get it up to 1500 rpms or so not moving just holding it and the more throttle i apply the louder the shrieking gets.

Now remember the truck is not moving its just spooled up, holding the brakes. I think that maybe something is wrong with the turbo, but I dont want to jump to conclusions. This truck is a 2001 F350 SRW CC LB 7.3 161,000 2 owner miles, 4 inch turbo back FLO PRO Straight pipe, and gauges everything else stock. What is moving that is making this horrible sound.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Squeaking Noise Coming From Front Differential Pinion

we've had a bunch of snow this week and I've been driving around with my hubs locked in. today I noticed when I was slowing down to pull into my driveway I could hear a slight squeaking sound(sounded like a squeaky belt) coming from the front.

I verified it was coming from underneath the truck behind the engine compartment so I unlocked the hubs and went for a drive, the sound was gone. I crawled underneath and turned the front driveshaft by hand and I could hear a slight rubbing sound at the back of the pinion. The bearing doesn't have any play in and there are no leaks. What is going on? Could the bearing be starting to fail or could the rubber seal around the pinion have some grit in it causing the noise?

I don't here any other super duty's squeaking on the road.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 4X4 - Front End Rumble - Squeaking / Grinding Noise Then Clunking

So to start at the beginning.... Traveled across Canada East to West towing 11000lb travel trailer, no problem. Have used 4x4 in a few campsites to pull out of a pitch without spinning the wheels and causing damage to the site when it has been really wet. All good.

Got to Banff in December and the town was an Ice rink, engaged 4x4 and all good. Crossed the Rockies and the 4x4 starts making grinding noises. Up and down some mountains and squeaking, grinding noise then clunking.

I have manual hubs, disengage and the noise all goes away. Engage 1 hub and no noise. Engage both hubs, noise back.

I bought some needle bearings and went to swap them. Got hubs apart and they look good. No scoring on the drive shafts. They are not dry, but as I have them open, repack them with grease anyway.

Do more research... Remove ABS sensor and repack main bearings with grease. (broke one sensor pulling it out, too cold plastic brittle oops). Still clunking noises.

The universal joints look good, doesn't appear to be any play in them. However, the axle seal (knuckle seal) (F81Z-3254-CB) does move around a lot in it's metal casing. It is tight on the shaft, but with the hub off, I can move it in and out, and move it side to side. If I had ESOF hubs I guess they would not be locking as I'm sure there would be no vacuum in there!

Question is then, would this seal be allowing the universal joint to wobble under load in 4x4 mode? Would this wobble be the cause of the rumble? As it is labelled as a seal and not a bearing, I wouldn't of thought this would have been a loaded point, and the weight would have been taken by the associated bearings and it could be run without this seal? But if it is not this, then I'm still looking for a clue as to what is making the rumble....
