View 5 RepliesI have a 16 with a 6.2. Truck has less than 1k on it but the tranny seems to run hot. What do these run at?
View 10 Replies2000 super duty v10 with 92,000 miles. Getting that common rattle around 2k rpm range that goes away if I give it gas or let off. I originally thought it was the inspection plate on the transmission so I removed it and went for a drive to verify. The sound is still present so the only thing I can think of is the catalytic converter is worn out??
View 10 RepliesAfter doing a test drive after installing an 8" lift on my 2000 6-speed manual diesel F-250, I noticed that while the 4X4 engages, it won't shift into Low. I've had this truck 7 years and know the drill: complete stop, foot on the brake, clutch to the floor, transmission in neutral, and it usually takes a couple seconds. I've tried different combinations of backing up first, going straight from 2WD to 4Low, etc and still no 4Low.
As far as I know the ESOF transfer case is all electronic and vacuum doesn't play a role. I don't recall ever seeing a vacuum line coming out of it anyway.
I have an 06 F-250. I have had this truck since Oct 2013 and had never use 4 wheel drive here in southern Alabama, so my question is i lock my hubs, turn my selector to 4 high and it works. Now selecting to 4 low and I get nothing.
View 9 RepliesI was wondering what is the normal range of trans temp in this truck? I was driving home last night and after a couple burst of wot , getting on the freeway, I checked the info display and it showed 200 degrees for Trans fluid. Truck was unloaded with 80 degree Temps. Also I guess how accurate is the dash Guage? does this seem like higher than normal Temps? 15 f350 cc sb 11 k miles ,gas motor. i aslo drove another couple miles coasting around and the temp never dropped past 196 .
View 4 RepliesI have a 99 f450 and the od light flashes when the truck is in low range. I have to shut the truck off when I put it back in high range to get it to stop. It won't flash again till I use low range again. whats going on?
View 1 RepliesOn my 99 lariat the 4x4 does not engage. It's got a electric switch on the dash. The 4x4 light comes on when I turn the key on for 3 seconds. But when I turn the switch I got nothing and can't hear anything trying to engage. Where to start or how to test the switch?
View 3 Replies2006 F53 (motorhome) with 6.8L V10. Rcently noticed rough idle and midrange (under load) mis fire. Had codes on 2 coils. Replaced coils and put new spark plugs in. Did not improve and now detecting mild back fire.
Just completed compression test. 1=207psi, 2=200, 3=210, 4=190, 5=197, 6=200, 7=200, 8=170, 9=202, 10=208.
put some oil in #8 and retested at 225!
Other observations on #8. Engine has ticking noise chased with stethoscope to #8. THE new plug with 200miles, insulator going to electrode tip and everything inside combustion chamber is black. All 9 other plugs still look new out of box.
With the ticking noise I was suspecting valve but the compression test with oil jumped way up.
I have the factory keyless entry on my '03 F-250 SuperCab. I have always had to be within about 5'-8' of my cab to get the doors to lock/unlock. I thought it was normal for the longest time, but recently learned it's not. I am out of warranty now so I need to try and fix this myself. What is the location of the receiver module, and what it looks like? Also, is there an external antenna w/ the factory keyless entry, and where is it at? Transmitters are fine, as is battery power. Only think it could be is receiver/antenna.
View 14 RepliesSo sometimes the 4x4 takes awhile to engage. Both hubs are free turning (manual to auto). Drivers side only holds a few psi of vacuum. Passengers side 20ish. All seals have been replaced. Was tested right at the nipple on drivers side front. Switching hubs from side to side didn't change anything. 2 mechanics are unsure what to do aside from take a chance at replacing the wheel bearing. It does eventually go into 4x4 but takes awhile for 4x4 to engage and light on dash to come on.
View 14 RepliesOk so here here goes I have a 1999 f250 super duty with 5.4 triton it seems to be over heating but the gage stays in the normal operating temperature range. I just changed the water pump. Could it be the thermostat and Would it hurt to remove the thermostat until I can get one...
View 8 Replies2000 6.8 v10 F250 supper duty crew cab. 4x4 high switch's on (manual lock hubs installed) but 4x4 low will not engage. Brake input/out put tested good. Trans switch Park/"N" both test good. PCM reads switch output in all modes, (dash 4x4 selector). The only other issue I am having is the Vacuum is bad ( defrost default no blend door operation). Would vacuum loss prevent 4x4 lo range engagement (with manual hubs ) or should I go to the solenoid, relays on the case/ right fender?
View 4 RepliesMy truck: 2001 F250 V8 Triton Automatic 4x4
Problem: 4x4 won't engage
Symptoms: No dash lights....nothing happens when I turn the 4x4 switch. When I start the truck I hear what sounds like a motor (transfer case motor maybe?) trying to switch (even though my dash switch is on 2WD)... It tries three times and stops.
What I've done: Checked fuses ...they appear ok to me
I don't have a maintenance manual yet ...
The 4x4 used to work up until about 2 weeks ago. Started having a hard time getting it to go into (and out of) 4x4 and then it just stopped all together.
2008 F-250XL, 5.4L V8, 5 speed auto, 3.73 rear.
Two/haul fails to engage and does not light up dash indicator light from time to time. After 4 or 5 tries it usually will engage normally. No codes.
2005 F-250 King Ranch Diesel ... My truck when I got it the 4x4 wouldn't engage. I replace the front inner seals, and the lock outs. Still wouldn't work. Took the shift motor off and freed it up and it worked fin till today. Changed the shift motor and still nothing. This truck has been nothing but problems since I have had it and now this ... Truck is going on the market soon and would sell better if the 4x4 worked ...
View 13 RepliesHow to diagnose a vacuum leak without a vacuum leak diagnostic tool.
My ESOF won't engage, AC/heat blowers default to defrost - classic symptoms. And while we can leave without AC/heat, we really need the ability to engage 4x4 low, especially as we get higher into the Andes and the roads unsmooth.
F-250 2005 XLT 5.4L 4X4. Had ford for a few years now (Escape as a personal vehicle and econoline as business vehicle). Now I'm having a little problem with 4x4. It wont engage. Worked fine last week and now nothing! I did check all the fuses and when i switch to either 4Lo or 4Hi I can hear a clicking sound behind the switch but feel like it's getting blocked or something. Tries a few time then stop...
View 14 RepliesI have a 04 ford f250 superduty... I tried to use my 4x4 today and the front wheels would not engage using the ESOF. The light comes on in the dash saying its in 4x4. i do not believe i have a vacuum leak because it doesn't switch over to the automatic setting for defrost. what else could it possibly be I'm stumped at this point.
View 14 Replies4x4 will not engage. 4x4 light on dash does not come on. Can not hear motor switching into 4x4. Check fuses under dash all looked good.
Truck is a 2004 F250SD V10 ....
I have a problem on my F250 4x4. The 4x4 doesn't engage from inside. I tested for vacuum on the pipe that leads out of the solenoid. There seems to be no vacuum building on the outlet line. This is the line that go to the wheels. Is my solenoid stuffed. the pump works well and vents do not default to defrost.
