I went to get my front window tinted and the place didn't have the "tool" to remove the rear view mirror and they did not want to get very aggressive with the mallet in fear of breaking the windshield. Has anyone bene able to get any of the "home methods" to work? I contacted a couple of local auto window repair places and they said they wouldn't do it because the windshield "ALWAYS" breaks.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 and the other morning I came out and found the rear view mirror laying on the cab floor. No biggie, I'll just glue it back on. Then I noticed the small black decal looking thing on the inside of the windshield. My question is, does this have to come off in order to re-install the mirror with standard Permatex mirror adhesive, or do I just put adhesive on top of it? Also, is there a different, specific adhesive used here that won't crack the windshield 2 weeks from now, like I read. Took a closer look and realized they used a thin adhesive patch to attach the mirror. I'll get one from the dealer.

View 6 RepliesI'm putting a new double din stereo w/ backup camera in my truck, I have everything wired except the violet/white wire (from the stereo) that needs to be hooked to a wire (on the truck) that will activate the camera when you put it in reverse. I cannot figure where this wire is on the 2012 for the life of me.
View 3 RepliesAdjusting rear view mirror? When I adjust my seat to the right position, then my rear view mirror shows me my rear deck where sub woofer located. I adjust the seat down and forward a bit and I can see about 70% of the rear glass. I have already raised my rear view mirror all the up.
View 11 RepliesI want to get the rear fender flares on my dually painted, they had a few scuffs when I bought it & I will soon have some spare time to get it sorted. We can't get the truck in the paint booth so taking them off seems like the ideal solution. I have had a quick look & I think it's just a case of removing the plastic liner (screws & clips) then it looks like there are some nuts up inside the steel fender, disconnect the wiring & they should come off!

View 12 RepliesI have a 2011 F350 with camper package (didn't want it). When I drive on a bumpy road (without 5th wheel), the truck suspension does not absorb the shock. The ruts just throws the truck side to side. Really hard, so I can't go on a dirt, rough road. On one bump it poped off my rear tire cap.
My problem may be with the camper package trying to keep the truck from going back and forth.
There is a 7/16 inch steal rod going from the truck bed, around the differential, and back up to the other side of the truck. Is that the rear stablizer rod?? Can I disconnect it? What would be

I asked the same question earlier and got a reply for 2011, would that be the same? Is there any place I could get a schematic, a picture is worth a thousand words.

View 2 RepliesSo my driver side map light went out, went and replace the lamp. Now I can't turn on the map light when I depress the lens on both front map lights. Both rear map lights don't work either when I flip the switch and the driver or passenger visor mirror doesn't turn on when I flip the mirror cover. Maps lights do come on when I open doors. Also my Home Link (garage door opener now doesn't work). It's throwing a P1260 code (Theft detected vehicle immobilized). Do this might be related to my light issue? Is there a fuse on relay that controls this that might be bad or something needs to be reset? I've looked at the fuses by the passenger floorboard and every thing looks good. Why this is happening?
View 1 RepliesProper alignment and re-installation of the front spline on the rear driveshaft of my 2015 F350.
I removed my rear driveshaft recently (it slipped right out upon removal without any force or resistance), and I'm getting ready to re-install it again this weekend, but I've noticed that one of the grooves between the array of male splines on the shaft itself appears to be slightly different than the rest - it seems to be slightly wider. It even has a white-colored stripe of paint down the full length of the groove as if it were denoting it as being somehow different from the rest?
Problem is, when visually inspecting the splines on the inside of the receiving yoke (the part that the spline fits into), I do NOT see any such differences. In other words, it doesn't appear that there is only ONE way to properly insert the front splined-end of the driveshaft. What am I missing here?
Is the front splined-end of the rear driveshaft intended to be inserted into the yoke in ANY position around the dial? Or is there only ONE specific position or orientation that it is intended to be inserted or installed? NOTE: I've seen references elsewhere on-line that seem to indicate the need for proper alignment when there are multiple U-Joints, and maybe this is a part of it (?), but I'm not quite sure which U-Joints to consider or how to interpret such an "alignment".
I'm trying to find out what the two connectors in the image are.. I've looked through the manual that I have and searched around on the web and find nothing.
They're on a 2015 F250. "upfitter" switches were installed from the factory.
I have a 2004 F250 Lariat Crew Cab FX4 6-3/4' bed.
What is the procedure to remove the Driver's side Rear Sway Bar Link upper bolt? - the link attaches to the frame. The nut is on the inside of the frame with about 1/3" to 2/3" clearance between the frame and the fuel tank. Of course, the frame's "C" shape faces towards the inside.
I was looking underneath the truck yesterday and saw that the rear end pinion seal was leaking. Looked like it had been for a while. Truck has 35,850 miles on it. Unscrewed the fill plug and a lot of pressure is released. So I'm assuming the breather is clogged somewhere along the line. I have an appointment at the dealer on Friday to see whats wrong. What is supposed to be at the end of the breather tube? Mine has a barbed 45ish degree fitting on the end of it. Its a SRW by the way.
