Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2013 F350 - Check Coolant Additive Message

OK, I got the message, ran the tests, all is well. Now how do I clear the message? It's a 2013 F350 6.7PSD.

View 11 RepliesA few days ago my check coolant additive message start popping up, 14k miles. After doing some reading it sounds like all I need to do is either have my coolant tested or get the test kit and do it myself. My confusion is which test kit to purchase. Since my truck is a 2015 PSD some people are saying that I need to buy a test kit that comes with test vials instead of using the test strips. Which test kit should I buy?
View 14 RepliesI have a annoying check coolant additive warning light that wont go away, is their another way to turn off the light other than the button on the steering wheel? I have searched the forum but have had no luck, my coolant level is at it's proper level.
View 3 RepliesGot the warning on the message center.. 2011 F350 38,000 miles. I am not original owner, has lifetime POWERTRAIN so thinking of letting dealer handle this,,,but..?
With the importance of these cooling systems.. and coolant being in there for approx. 60 months.. I am thinking why pay for test kit or pay dealer to test it and add additive...
I guess I could just buy the oem coolant and distilled water and drain & fill it myself... but can I use garden hose to flush? Or just better to let FORD handle it?
I have a 2008 f350 6.4 (105,000 miles) and I am randomly getting the check charging system the batterys have a standing voltage of 13.8 and 13.9-14v (read from the ecu with scanner) both at idle and under a load. I also checked the alternator and its making 13.8-14 all the batteries are tight and there is no corrosion.
View 1 RepliesEvery time I put the truck in reverse, I get a "Check Rear Park Aid" message on my display.
I tried wiping all of the sensors clean, and I checked the electrical connections and all seem to be fine.
I got a 2013 f350 lariat long bed. Had a flat bed put on and now my check park assist is always on.. Dealer didn't install sensors. Is there any module or anything I can do to turn this thing off?
View 1 RepliesThe other day I got the check coolant additive message. I've heard that you need to test this every so often. My truck has 67,000kms. so maybe 45,000 miles ?? Anyways.. At first I thought it was a LOW coolant message not reading it thoroughly the first time.. So I was quick to check the coolant level. The level in the drivers side looks ok but the passenger side seems a bit low. I can't not see any leaks what so ever. So question 2. Are both overflow reservoirs or is one for this coolant additive.
View 14 RepliesOK, just about to turn over 17,000 miles on my 6.7 and got the message to "Check Coolant Additive". So I came here and did a search, read a bunch of post, gained a little information, but not enough. You know how it goes with the subject gets off track and never comes back to course many times.
So my question is, do I purchase the kits, from what I read it would appear that there are two different test kits required.
Or do I just take it to the dealership and have the test performed? Also from what I have read it would appear that this is a timed message response and not an actual computer generated test...correct?
Got a "check coolant additive" message in my message center, but the owner's manual isn't too useful explaining what it means or what I should do.
View 9 RepliesDriving to work this morning and I get a notification "Check Coolant Additive". Sure, I've got 12,100 miles on it but come on. Dealer dip a test strip in the coolant to check it out. He says it only takes a few minutes to check provided the engine isn't too hot. I guess the "coolant additive" is something that the computer monitors to make sure the coolant is still good.
View 14 RepliesI called my servicing dealer and he was unaware of the message or how to check/test this. He also did not think it was a warranty issue.
View 14 RepliesHow do I reset the "Check Coolant Additive" message. Pressing OK turns it off until I restart the engine.
View 4 RepliesFound some threads on this but mostly for the 05-07 models. I am wondering if it is possible to install the upgraded message center (right above the steering column) into the dash of a 2012 F-350 XLT that has only the 2-line text message center?
View 1 RepliesMy 2012 F-250 gas just started showing this message that a coolant change is required. I am just over 59k miles. Is this a timed message all F-250's get, or is it an indications something is wrong? The truck does not run hot, it keeps perfect temperature even when I am towing my 13klbs boat.
View 3 RepliesOK....my gas cap (5.4 gasser) wasn't put on properly at the gas station. A couple of blocks later, the "Check Gas Cap" notice came on. I stopped a few blocks later, and installed the cap properly. The notice STILL came on. After messing with the cap 4 more times, I gave up, but the notice is still on. Do I need to have it "erased" like a code, or is there a problem with the cap? Everything LOOKS fine...
View 2 RepliesMy 05 SD started to flash tow haul mode and check gauges message came on while I was towing my car hauler trans temp gauge quit working then check engine light came on too truck runs fine disconnected batteries then re connect them ( trailer now disconnected) problem solved for about 3 mi of driving then it came back w/o trailer I'm thinking rusty trailer ball on hitch caused this maybe not a good ground for trailer tow computer? What kind of scanner etc do I need to possibly clear this problem out? I am the original owner never seen this happen with this or any other trailer I've towed.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 F250 and to day the TPMS light came on with a low tire warning message. A little back history, I put new tires on the truck when I bought it and they currently have 9200 miles on them. I didn't like having the tires at the 80psi the tire shop set them at so I lowered them to 62psi right away and haven't had any issues with the low pressure warning going off. Today I was backing into a parking spot and the warning light came on with a low tire message. I checked all the tires and they were right where they should be, but when I got home I added another 5psi to see what would happen and the light never went off after taking it on a 10 mile drive.
My question is, do I have a wheel sensor issue or is something messed up in the computer? I know the door sticker says 75psi front/80rear, but I've been running the tires at 62psi for 9200 miles without trouble so I can't think that the pressure is the culprit. Also, does the spare tire have a sensor in it? In the manual in one paragraph it seemed like it does, but in the next it said that the spare doesn't have one so the light will stay on to remind you to change the spare out.
03 f350 5.4. Very minor coolant leak at the moment. Valley behind water pump looks a little damp and leak has shown a little on the passenger side block above the starter. Shows on the tranny bell housing and hits the y pipe every once and a while. I am thinking its the hose that runs under the intake manifold but wanted to check in here for some wisdom. Can it be bypassed or rerun without pulling everything.
View 12 RepliesMy grandfathers 99 F350, started suddenly, do not know if it was while sitting or while driving. Its more of a stream than anything else. Coming from the rear, cannot see where, appears to be toward the vee of the engine, not inside the bellhousing. The firewall insulation is damp from coolant. Doesnt start until engine starts warming up.
Is there something commonly replaced back there? Didnt want to yank the intake in 20* weather for exploratory surgery. Is not the heater hoses. Idk if the EGRs are cooled on these, thats about my only idea other than freeze plug, coolant tests good down to -20ish, hasnt been below zero in weeks (prior to leak). Not familiar with any of the modular engines.
I'm a total beginner and am slowly nursing an '87 F350 7.5L back to running condition as a plow/farm truck. It regularly loses coolant, even on very short trips around the farm and I figured that radiator needed to be replaced. Today I was hooking a snow plow up and had it running for about 15 minutes when light grey smoke started to come out of the vents in the cab. Looking at the engine, I noticed a lot of coolant leaking out from below the heater housing. The coolant was dripping out of what looks like a protruding bit of pipe a where a hose should be attached. What am I looking at here?
