Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 - Hesitates While Shifting Into Reverse?

I have a 2011 super duty with the 6.2 flex. When shifting into reverse, it hesitates, then slams into reverse. Same on the lower gears when driving. This doesn't occur all the time, but the majority. Been talking to a couple other super duty owners (diesel owners) who have been having the same prob, but not as severe. We all have noticed the prob after having charcoal filter replaced. Is this a tranny issue or computer issue?

I have a 2000 F-550 w/7.3 and a 6 speed ZF transmission. My problem is that when you go to shift into any gear inc. reverse the transmission stays in 5th gear. I pulled the shifter and tried to do it from top of transmission it still stays in 5th. Any thoughts that I could possibly check?

I continuously read that people with 6.2 F250s averaging 13 mpg or so in a combination city/highway driving. This 2014 4x4 barely has enough power to move itself (honestly, I'd rather have my Ram 1500 back) and barely gets 10mpg. Basically have to give it about half-pedal to even get up to freeway speed and floor it if i want to pass anything. Is it just that much of a POS or does this not sound right? Other than a massive "clunk" sound when shifting from reverse to drive or vice versa, no indication of any problems.

I have a 2011 F-350 6.2L that has extremely hard shifts from 3 to 4 going up and 2 to 1 going down. Sometimes on downshifts it feels like something has ran into the back of the truck. I had the computer updated when the truck had approximately 40,000 miles on it and he assisted a little bit. The truck now has 140,000 miles and it is back to shifting horribly. I put it in the shop at the dealer on 30 December 2013. The dealer says that the problem is that the shift solenoids need to be replaced but that they are not available. The truck is still sitting at the dealer and I am being told that the parts should be available mid February.

Ok I ended up buying a 2011 F250 XLT. it has the reverse aid sensors. it worked great till i washed it after plowing. what should I look for or diagnose? also mt my dash says my tires need air. I filled them and reset but it comes back.

Well I just bought a 2011F250 6.7 on Friday. The truck has 42000 miles when I picked it up and now has almost 42800 4 days later. I love the truck so far. But anyways its an early build so is there anything I need to look out for? I noticed today I pulled into a parking spot and went to back up and as soon as I put it in reverse the truck shook pretty bad. It did it a few times as I sat there and went from drive to reverse. Is this something that is normal?

I have a 14 f350, 6.2... Takes a few seconds to go into gear when cold, trans is fine otherwise, and I don't want to waste the dealers time if this is the way these things are:
When its warm and I put it in drive it goes right in .. .
When cold and only sometimes, it takes up to three seconds to go in gear .. .
It has 7000 miles on it .. .

I have recently purchased an 04 F250 crew cab with the 6.0 power stroke, it has a cold air intake, 4inch exhaust from the turbo back and has a program in it but programmer didn't come with the truck. When I sit at a traffic light and go to leave on a green light the truck kind of hesitates or acts like it's missing out( maybe loading up) shoots out black smoke then runs fine, it doesn't do it at all the stop lights but does get irritating. If I get it flashed back to stock settings will the truck run normal with all the upgrades?

2015 F-350 diesel purchased in Sept 2014. When moving slowly such as turning a corner and I have to let up on the accelerator momentarily, when I press down again there is nothing for an unsettling period of time, maybe 2 seconds, as though the engine died, but it didn't and it always comes back. Is there a firmware programming update for this?

So I was driving earlier this morning and I noticed my overdrive light blinking, I didn't think much of it since I know the multi-function switch is bad and I haven't had time to change it yet, but a while later I was accelerating and just before it would shift from 2nd to 3rd it went to neutral. I played with the shifter a bit and found that if I shifted the column to 2nd I could drive in second, not a problem being only 3-4 miles from home.
I did a bit of digging and found I had blown the OBD2 fuse and saw a few people mention fuses as a possible shifting problem, Replaced that and still having issues. I have found that if i start out in drive I can shift into 2nd on the column then at the proper rpm put it back up into drive for 3rd and 4th. I just had the transmission re-built 400 miles ago and it is under warranty but I want to make sure it's not a computer or some other sensor before I call and bitch to them. I saw a couple posts referring to the shift solenoid but the problem was different.

I have a 99 7.3 F350 with 5 speed manual with over 300,000 miles. Grinds bad shifting into 3rd, and nothing happens in 4th. I think it is a S5-47-ZF. Is a 6 speed manual comparable to bolt up to bell housing?

On dads 04 f350 the 4wd first wasn't shifting to 4lo. Would do 4hi and 2wd fine. Then motor on t-case went bad. Replaced motor 2wd and 4hi still good still no 4lo. Then just 2wd so we unplugged t-case motor and power probed motor got it to do 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo. So we thinking bad dash switch but power probed it and its working fine. So we r thinking VP4C3F-14B128-A/ chassis computer bad just behind/above glovebox. R there any test we can do to confirm its bad? We called local junk yards to see bout getting one, nobody had one. If this is indeed bad where is cheapest get one? What all years use this certain chassis computer??

The other day I was driving to work and I noticed my truck wasn't accelerating right and the transmission wasn't shifting into high gear. Its almost like the truck went into neutral around 2000 rpm. What the issue could be? I really don't want to replace my transmission if I don't have to.

Picked up a project truck for the spring..... single cab 99 4x4 7.3 with the 6 speed. 1st through 5th work perfect...... however reverse and low are non existent.
What I am sure of:
1. I'm positive its not a clutch problem.
2. The shifter goes into the position of reverse and low just fine but there's no engagement at all.
3. I can put the shifter in low or reverse position whether the clutch is engaged or not... makes no difference at all.
Once i was messing with it and somehow by moving the stick sort of to the side it hit reverse and the gear worked fine but then it remained in reverse no matter what position the shifter was in until i was able to move it around enough to get it out.
I'm thinking bent shift fork? Looking at a few writeups on rebuilds it looks like i might be able to replace the fork without dropping the tranny.... just divorce the t-case and remove back half of trans?

I have a 2012 F-250 ccsb lariat and the shift from 3 to 4 seems to be a bit prolonged as if the converter is slipping and wont go ahead and push it into 4 gear. Also it will want to downshift from 3 to 1 and feels like the car behind nailed you. I have read that the early 2011 had some of this problem and the dealer reflashed the tcm and it did not do much good but as mine being a 2012 mine should have been flashed with the lastest tcm flash from the get go?? Egr fell off and am running Kory Willis tunes through ez lynk so the stealership is probably out of the question. I have also read that changing a couple solenoids( dont remember which ones) will fix the problem.

The tranny is shifting really hard between 2 and 3 if I feather the throttle it can be a little less of a jolt but still enough none the less iv never done a filter and fluid change as I just got it it has 235000 miles 99 v10 super duty 4x4....

Bought truck drove it 240 miles on interstate 80 mph no problems---2001 F350 4x4 auto. Next morning backed out drive and trans fluid trail 6 inches wide. Didn't leak in forward gears (at that time) added fluid and drive to town shifted fine.
Next day gonna drive 150 miles to check out leak. (Son was driving it) said it wouldn't go over 40 mph. Revving high. Hauled truck here on trailer and pulled tranny. Rear housing cracked just before 4x4 adapter. (This trans was rebuilt 10k miles ago) ..
Got used 4R100 from friend who replaced only because he built one for his truck. It was shifting fine etc when pulled 6 months ago. Used cracked trans TC and installed. Test drive no 4th or OD. Pulled trans put TC that came with trans in. Still no OD. Put on scanner while driving. Trans is being commanded to shift to OD but not up shifting. 45mph at 2400rpm.
Pulled plug to solenoid pack inside trans ( this should make trans default to OD / limp mode) still no OD and won't go over 45.
Pulled OD button checked wires inside steering column. All looks great. Not even a heavy rub mark.
Should I replace the coil pack in trans? Where do I go from here? Again this trans was known to be good when pulled 6 months ago.

I bought my 2011 F250 FX4 about 2 months ago. A little about the truck: 6.2 liter gas. XL FX4. Manual 4x4. 6 speed auto. Supercab. Long bed. 42,000 miles. (1,000 of them mine.)
Until yesterday, the truck has performed absolutely flawlessly under all conditions. Then, randomly, I had what felt like a "missed shift" as I was leaving my dog's veteranarian yesterday. I pulled out onto the highway and as the truck attempted to shift into second gear, it didn't "catch" second. The gas just revved up and I had to take my foot off the gas pedal and put it back down to get second gear to engage. Most of my driving is stop and go around town and this has only happened once in probably well over a thousand stop and go situations. Should I be worried or was it just a fluke?
Also, FWIW, I did plenty of stop and go driving today without a single problem.

I just got 03 f250 with 6.0 and when shifting has a weird surge/lag thing happening. Reminds me a little of the old 7.3 surge when it was just started on a cold day. Seems to be worse in higher gears.

Recently I have had an issue with my auto which was just rebuilt. About 500 kays after i picked it up it shifts dangerously hard and immediately into all gears at around 20-40 mph, converter also locks immediately. The speed sensor in the box was replaced with the rebuild but I'm having it replaced again this thursday just in case.
Just for the record I cooked it on the beach a while back, the speed sensor was replaced with the rebuild as it was doing the above, the od light also flashes when this occurs, before and after the rebuild.
Prior to cooking it never had an issue.
What could be causing it? I'm starting to worry it cant be fixed, have done a google and tried a couple of things mentioned. Code says wiring issue associated with speed sensor in box.

I recently bought a van that has a hard shift problem. It is a 1995 E350 with a diesel. If I take off from a stop without babying the throttle, the shift from first to second is very hard. Second to third is hard but not as violent. What might be happening?
