I can hear and see the blower motor running great. I just have very little air flow through the vents, defroster etc... is there a blower motor door between motor and vents. 2011 F750 xl superduty ....
View 2 RepliesMy 1999 F 250 5.4 liter. I know I have a vacuum leak because whenever I accelerate the air conditioning coming from the vents switches to the defroster. So my question is how do I go about finding the leak? My hubs in the front are manual so I know I don't have lines going up there. I do have some mechanical capabilities I've changed water pumps alternators brakes etc. But never anything with vacuum lines or a/c.
View 14 RepliesSo my vents stopped actuating to different positions in my 2011 6.7 F350. I read that it could be a vacuum pump or solenoid issue. In any event, I turned 4x4 on and went down the street and made a u-turn - 4x4 seems to be on as the truck wants to hop the outside wheel when turning. I want to check the vacuum pump anyway but for the life of me cannot find it anywhere. Moreover, google turns up nothing which is making me start to believe the new trucks have a completely different system.
View 9 Replies2011 F350 6.2L Gas engine. Last fall when I first started using my heat I noticed that the air would only blow through the dash vents. It will not switch over to defrost or floor. I have an XLT I am pretty sure the controls are the basic controls. there are push buttons to change from floor/vent and defrost. I do recall the summer before I had I noticed the problem I would hear a clicking sound in behind the dash. I figured something fell down the defrost vent. I see people who have had this problem on older trucks talking about an actuator. I've looked on ford parts site and I cannot find an actuator listed for the damper door. I was hoping to see what it looks like so I could try and find it in my truck.
I do have the dash pulled apart and I can reach up and manually move a lever that is connected to a cable. and I can change the air outlet to the floor, but I cannot get it to change to defrost. While I have the dash apart I also tried pressing the buttons on the heat control to see if the lever which I am moving by hand is moving at all and it is no. I was thinking if something was stuck in the system I would probably be able to feel the cable at least try to move, but it does not. The white cable which is connected to the lever which I am moving goes into the bottom of the duct work, where it goes from there, but I am assuming some kind of actuator?

I stuck my camera up there to see what was there. This is as far forward as I could go on the drive rside and in front of the 4x4 shifter. You can see the end of the cable I'm assuming that is the door.....
2006 Harley Edition F250 6.0 Diesel
When temp outside is around 75 degrees or cooler blows and switches between different settings as normal. A/C will blow hard thru dash vents and freeze you out. When it gets hot outside it will only blow thru defrost!!!! So on wat to work in morning everything is perfect - driving home from work when it is 100 outside it only blows thru defrost (cold cold air though).
Confusing the heck out of me because a vacuum leak doesn't care about the outside temperature.......

My heat only blows through the defroster. I was looking for my vacuum pump, but can't seem to find it. I find plenty of diesel threads where they show it, but mine isn't in the same location. I can actuate the diverter by hand and it will make the heat stop at the defroster and come out at your feet.
I have attached images of my rig.
Were to look for the vacuum pump? Any key spots to look for failed vacuum lines? What is this?

I've researched the heck out of P0401.... I have an 04' F250 w/a 6.0, 61k miles, completely stock. I have been getting a reoccurring P0401 EGR flow CEL. I've checked all the fittings and tubes and see no cracks or breaks. I've checked the exhaust system and no signs of leaking soot anywhere except on the passenger side exhaust manifold, there is some minor deposits of soot near the first two cylinders, but that's it.
Everything else looks good and I can't hear any hissing either. I am not getting any white smoke from the exhaust. I pulled my EGR valve and looked at it, it looked fine. I cleaned it off and put it back in. Then I got a new one just to see if that fixed it. I am missing a little coolant. I'm adding maybe a few cups of coolant every few weeks. Truck is always serviced and only repairs was Ford replaced the EGR valve in 2008. When I pull my EGR valve, it is slightly moist in the housing but not wet and no sludge. Again, the EGR valve had a nice layer of soot, no build up or sludge on it....
I have a 2003 F250 Super Duty 5.4L V8 with no heat. It wasn't missing, running funny or blowing white smoke out of the tailpipe and there were no coolant leaks nor did it overheat. Thermostat has been replaced twice, heater core flushed twice, water pump replaced, fan clutch replaced and blend door works...Cabin airflow gets colder when turned from hot to cold. This thing is sitting in my driveway and I am about to push it over a cliff. Did I mention it only has 56,000 miles on it?
Coolant was drained to replace water pump and flush heater core (again, water ran through in both directions with no stoppage). 3 gallons of undilluted antifreeze was put into the overflow bottle to be topped off with water...the coolant went in and stopped. Engine was started to force coolant from bottle...coolant backed up into the bottle and out the top. Heater core inlet hose is hot and outlet hose not very warm if at all. Upper radiator hose is soft. Didn't check lower radiator hose as I was a bit peeved and slammed the hood closed and called it a night. I have been throwing money at this thing that I do not have and am at my wits end with it.
I have read that the torqshift 5 speed in my 08 f350 he a thermostat in it that opens around 165-170. Is this thermostat to limit/stop the flow to the trans cooler? Does the trans fluid still move freely in the trans (pan, torque converter, valve body, ect), or does the thermostat restrict fluid movement inside the trans?
View 3 RepliesMy stock OEM fuel tank has a crack in it. I've got to replace it. I was thinking of getting a TransferFlow replacement tank. It would nearly double my capacity. My wife wants me just to go stock to save the money, but I'm thinking the extra capacity would be nice. One thing that did concern me, however, is how much my fuel efficiency might diminish because of the extra weight of the tank (150 lbs) plus fuel. Since it is a gas truck, not many options.
View 8 RepliesWith my A/C turned up on max A/C and fan speed set on highest setting, I get very little air movement through the air vents. I have been told that starting with 2000 year models, there is a filter on the A/C fan motor. If this is true, I am sure mine needs to be changed. Looking for procedure/schematics for removal and change.

Are these vents made aftermarket? If so who? The dealer wants fifty some odd dollars each.
I have a 2012 super duty with a 6.2 in it. I bought it last winter and noticed no air getting to the defrost vents. Now in the heat, sometimes when I turn the air on, all I get is super hot air like the heater. Sometimes playing a bit will work but not always.
View 7 Replies6 months ago AC started to only blow through Defrost, replaced EOSF and problem went away. Today my ac started to blow through defrost, switched to floor it will shift from defrost to floor, switch back to defrost, it goes back to blowing to defrost, switch to front vents, nothing stays at defrost. Air pump kicks on for 30 seconds (KOEO) then shuts off. If I disconnect a vacuum line pump turns on. I am pretty sure at this point.. its not a vacuum leak. What else should I look at?
View 4 RepliesLast week I flipped the fan switch on and noticed that only hot air was coming from the vents, even with the control set to AC. The vent control switch seems to work fine directing the air but only hot air. The temperature control does not work. The exception is when I put it on max AC I get cold air. I can't be the only one.

My question.... I noticed a strong ammonia/super glue like smell floating around in the cab about the 3rd time i drove the pickup. Since then, it seems to do it intermittently. My first assumption was it was coming through the vents. I have done a couple experiments, and I don't believe this is the case. My wife and I were driving yesterday and she thought she noticed the smell again. while I was driving she started checking all the vents, and nothing. But when she leaned clear down near the speaker hole in the door, she said she could really smell it.
What could be causing this? I'm assuming if it was the AC it would be coming though the vents. And at this time, I don't think it is.
Don't get much rain here in SoCal except during the winter. After the last rain I noticed that there was water in the heating/ac vent system - or at least that's where I think it was.
When I made a right hand turn some water slopped out onto my foot and gave me quite a shock for a second till I figured out what had happened.
I suspect that there must be some kind of drain tube for the vent system that's become clogged, but before I start crawling around under the truck and dash I figured I would ask here first. Any useful tip on clearing the clog?
I am upgrading an F150 w/ pass-through console to an F250 w/ jump seats. Have not gone to see the truck in person and am wondering where the rear air vents are located?
Reason being I have two very large dogs that own the back seat. It's basically a large dog bed. The console vents are fantastic, keeps them cool back there. I can't figure out where the vents are in a jump-seat configuration.
