2007 f250 4x4 shift on fly will not work. switch to 4x4 high light will not illuminate and it will not go into 4x4. i have tried in park, in neutral, rolling are stopped. both lights work when you turn ignition key to on.
View 12 RepliesI was driving down the freeway the other day and when I hit a rough patch of road, nothing major, the truck sputtered and the 4x4 Low light blinked a few times on the console. I was driving in 2wd at the time. I kept driving and every bump I hit the truck sputtered as though trying to shift and the light blinked. On smooth road it didn't happen.
Today I drove to work at 6:30AM (40 miles), no issue. At noon I drove home and the issue started again. Every bump I hit the light came on and the truck seemed to want to try and shift into 4x4 low.
I got home, parked the truck for a few hours, then went out again, no issue. But about 20 minutes later it started again. I pulled over shifted to 4x4 high, drove it, was fine, went into 4x4 low seemed fine, went back to 2wd drove it some more issue came back. I've read tons of online threads regarding 4x4 lights etc, none like this and none on F250 Super Duty (2008).
I have a '99 F250 SuperDuty Diesel with an Automatic Transmission. There is a button on the end of the gear shift which allows you to turn off overdrive -- in other words the transmission won't shift into overdrive once you press the button.
Here's my problem. I start off driving normally. I've not done nothing to the overdrive button and the truck shifts normally into overdrive. 10-15 minutes down the road, the overdrive light (which indicates the state of the overdrive button) is FLASHING. Pressing the button doesn't stop the flashing. Once this flashing starts, the only thing I notice is a much more abrupt shift from 1 -> 2 gear.
I just went from 3.73 to 4.30 gears on my 2007 f250 6.0. It has the standard Sterling 10.5 rear and Dana 60 front. My mechanic friend who did the swap said the ABS light came on during his test drive but the truck drove fine. I was of the understanding that the truck would not need to be recalibrated for proper speedometer and transmission function, but what about the ABS?

Just had refurb engine installed with new oil elements as well. On a 9 hr road trip, the wrench light came on but no other warning lights.
No stock gauges showed any raises in levels.
No noticed loss of power at all.
The light would only come on once I drove at about 75 mph for about 10+ miles. It would not turn off when i slowed down, but when I would kill the truck and restart it, the light would be off. Just driving in town or on the highway briefly, nothing comes on. Took it in to oreillys to get scanned and they tell me a few codes pull up but none of them are valid. What would trigger the wrench?
On my 07 F250 Outlaw recently I replaced my stock 3rd brake light with a Bully LED brake light.. Noticed last night that it is NOT working.. the red LED's arent working but the white cab lights are.
I plugged the stock one back in and still nothing. After looking in the owner manual at the fuse block I did NOT see a fuse for it... Got to experimenting and my peddle raise lower switch is not working either. I looked at that fuse and it looked good but just to be safe I replaced it with a new one and still nothing...
could these be tied together some how for power?
I bought a 2002 f250 Crewcab bout 6 months ago. A couple of months back I noticed that after driving it and turning off ignition and opening door my radio would stay on and doors would not respond to key fob or switch on doors. Eventually it would reset and radio would turn off and key fob would work. It also makes the locking sound when press on brake. It doesn't happen all the time though and that's only issue. Truck is in awesome shape only 106,000 on it, belonged to an old man who only used it to tow camper twice a year. I've read a few posts that have similar problems and have heard could be gem or vsm.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 F250, 5.4, 4X4. My ignition key stuck in the start position and when I pulled it back to the run position, everything seemed ok. As I started down the road, my speedometer stopped working and my overdrive light was flashing. Also my turn signals had stopped working and my A/C clutch didn't engage. Figured I burnt a fuse. I looked in both the under dash and power distribution box and all seemed well. I checked the fuse for the turn signals/flasher and it was fine. The flashers worked. Thought I might have fried something so I replaced the ignition lock and switch. Also my service engine light came on throwing a code for the vehicle speed sensor.
Looking for solutions on this forum and the internet, I learned that the turn signal switch could have gone bad and the VSS sensor is on the top of the rear dif and an easy fix. Well replaced the sensor but nothing changed. So I went back to the fuse box. Examined every fuse, big and small and I found a 10a with a small space. This was #24 under the dash. From the manual, "#24, 10A, A/C clutch, Blend Door Actuator, Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay Coil, Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS), Turn Signal." Replaced it and everything went back to normal. Turn signals work, A/C clutch works, no flashing overdrive light and speedometer works. All from a 10A fuse. If you have any of these symptoms examine all the fuses carefully. There's a 20A fuse for turn/hazard lamps and this other one buried that's only 10A.
I have been reading several past post regarding the misfire while in OD and going up a small hill with light acceleration around 45 to 55 mph. Everything points to the COP so I replaced it today. Still getting the code after 20 minutes of driving around. My truck shudders and looses power. I can either let up on the throttle or hammer down on it to eventually smooth it out and everything goes back to normal.
Check engine light flashed but didn't stay on. My scanner does report misfire on cylinder 7 (P0307). Haven't owned this truck very long so I don't know much of it's history except OASIS report shows nothing alarming. Guess next step is a new set of plugs.
Another first today, is the tachometer is stuck at 4500 rpm. Shut the truck off and let it sit for an hour, then went back to start and tach. acts like 4500 is the new zero and running engine at 1000 rpm now indicates 5500. 2007 F250 SD 5.4 ....
Checking out my 2007 gasser this weekend an found that my third brake light does not work....no power to the socket. The cargo lights on either side of it in the same assembly work fine so I believe the ground to be intact. My question is does this light have it's own fuse? if not where should I start looking for the solution to my problem?
View 1 RepliesMy father-in-law has a 2008 f-250 with the 5.4. as he was driving a while back all the gauges of the dash quit. The engine still kept running without any noticeable difference but when he shut the engine off and tried to restart, it wouldn't even crank but the security light was flashing. He tried starting it again a few hours later and it started just like normal and ran fine.
He has had this problem occur several times in the last few months, but the other day it repeated the problem again and would not restart for about 5 days. He has tried charging the batteries, changing relays, checking all fuses and finding none blown, scanned it with his code reader, and checked the steering column for bare or rubbed wires.
I have a 2007 King Ranch F250 that had 18" rims on it. I just put a new set of 2008 KR 20" tires & rims on my truck and now the ABS light is on. Does increasing the tire/rim size mess with the ABS? If so how can I remedy this?
View 1 RepliesMy two oldest sons and I have a 1999 SD F250 4x4 with the V10 automatic. My boys burnt the trans. We had a spare that was pulled from the same year truck with the same motor. The boys installed it without me. Everything seems to work as it should, EXCEPT! 1-2 will not shift until 2800 rpm. 2-3 is the same. When I checked the install I found that the new trans has a speed input sensor on top of the housing behind the bell housing. It is Not plugged in, my harness does not have that plug. Old trans does not have that sensor. Is this the cause of the high rpm shifting?
View 14 RepliesFriend parked his well working truck and when starting it up after sitting a few days it won't shift into any gear. Lever moves as normal but the truck won't move. A soft clicking sound is the only difference to be noticed when shifting the lever. where to start? Temps are below freezing here if that matters.

View 3 RepliesI may be going to look at a 2001 F250, 4x4 with a V10 engine tomorrow. I think it is a shop truck for a business. The owner said that the mechanics told him that the trans won't shift out of low gear. It is an automatic. Maybe something as simple as a modulator valve (do they still use them)?

View 1 RepliesI have a 93 f250 4x4 with a 5.8 liter with 69 thousand miles.. the problem I'm having Is if I put It in drive it won't shift out of first but if I manually shift it from 1st to 2nd to drive it works but shifts very hard. Sometimes it will shift in drive but It shifts really hard. I don't know what It could be. We just put the transmisson back into the truck due to having to change a broken flywheel. It just don't Seem like it has any power...
View 5 RepliesI have a 02 F250 Super Duty XLT with a triton V8 with a automatic transmission . and when I shift into reverse after driving for a while the starter engages . It does not happen all the time . If i start up the truck and shift through or into reverse it doesn't happen . the only time it happens is when i've been driving for awhile and want to back up or park it will only do it once or twice after each drive so trying to get it to happen while in the shop is almost impossible . could this be caused by the transmission range sensor . I just had the code P0705 (transmission range sensor , A circuit input ) come on but the problem has been happening for a few weeks before that code came up .
View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 with the 6.0 PowerStroke and automatic transmission. I just purchased this truck at an auction about a month ago.
Today I notice the transmission is not shifting into overdrive. No warning lights. If I press the tow/haul button in no change but the tow/haul light does come on. If I press it again (to turn it off) the tow/haul light goes out but still the transmission will not shift into overdrive.
This leaves me at about 2000 RPM at 68 MPH. I just had a Ford dealer perform Transmission service last week. (20,000 miles after the last recorded service.)
I am already not happy with the service I received at the dealer so I am really hesitant to take it back to them if it is something not related to the transmission service they performed.
I have an 01 f250 with a 4r100. Trans has not been slipping at all and yesterday it started a rough shift between 1st and 2nd. (3-4K Rpms) At the same time 4th gear stopped engaging. Shifts out of 3rd but does not go into 4th. I can hit my od button and it will shift back into 3rd and start pulling. Still no slipping just doesn't want to change 1-2 or engage 4th. I have done a full trans fluid change including new filter and tc. Old fluid looked fine with no metal flakes or garbage in it. So all new fluid still same problem. I was thinking of changing my shift solenoid.
