2002 f350 7.3 diesel automatic. The cruise stopped about a 1/2 year ago and i have done the recall and replaced the steering wheel switch. but it still doesn't work. the horn works and speedometer works.

View 14 Replies2004 F-350 6.0 4X4 Manual transmission. When I drive on the freeway I can turn on the cruise system w/ the On switch. When I then use the Set button the green dash light comes on but immediately goes off when I release the button. Hold the button, the green light flashes until the button is released.
If I push in the clutch peddle while coasting down a hill and attempt to turn on the CC the light does not come on. Similarly with the brake peddle depressed. Periodically the ABS light comes on and I can tell by the brake peddle feel there is an issue with the ABS.
Additionally, the speedo is not accurate. I have an aftermarket GPS. When driving with traffic in a 65 I am reading about 55. My GPS confirms the speed of 65. The speedo flutters with about a 5 MPH span.
Yes, I have tried the Cruise Control Self diagnosis. It does not work on my truck. Key on w/Off button depressed and nothing.
I have checked for codes w/ Auto Enginuity. C1229 & C1184 both come up.
I have replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor at the top/front of the rear differential.
I have replaced the Cruise Control Cut out Switch on the master brake cylinder.
Both parts are from Ford parts department.
So... What now?
I have a 1999 Super Duty 5.4l Manual transmission 4x4 105,000 miles the cruise control stopped working a month ago, I didn't think much of it because I frankly don't use cruise as this vehicle is usually used to tow and I don't run cruise towing.
Long story short I went to tow my camp trailer and noticed my brake controller was not actuating the trailer brakes when I braked, the controller is showing connected and when I manually actuate the controller its working, so I knew I had a brake light issue, I checked the brakes and sure enough I have no functioning brake lights.
I bought a Motorcraft OEM brake pedal switch and replaced it to no avail,I have also checked the applicable fuses they are fine. I have a master cylinder cruise control switch to change but have my doubts this is the issue since the brake lights and cruise are non functional.
I have a 2002 f350 my horn went off in the middle of the night got up and unplugged the horn what is my problem. also, the cruise control won't work when it all happened
View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 f250 4x4 this snow plowing truck and going to be a pain if i cant figure this out before winter sets in. number 34 fuse (10amp) blows when replaced. cruise stopped working and can not get into gear from park after starting but turn ignition switch to 1 click forward and put into nuetral then start and go on about my business? Cruise recall completed in 06, brake lights work horn works.....
View 7 RepliesHaving a problem with my truck and I'm stuck. About 9 months ago my 4wd stopped working. Turn the switch and no light or noise. I took a look at fuses and everything was good there. I let it go but now I need 4wd. Today I checked every fuse and all of them were good. I moved to the relays checked them and they were good but for the heck of it replaced them. Checked for power at the pins. The one that needed power had power. Next I went to the switch had 12 volts there. Pulled switch and test with a multimeter and ohms were good. Went. Down to the motor and tested for power there not power to the motor. Is there anything else I'm missing Esof not working. 2002 f350 7.3 auto....
View 2 RepliesJust picked up a 99 F-350 V-10 today. Decently clean, works well. It'll be an occasional tow vehicle for hauling my car to car shows.
Anyhow, on the way home, I couldn't get the cruise control to work. I've read about the brake pressure switch problem before joining today. I can hit the on button and set it, and the cruise indicator lights up in the dash and will stay on, but will not hold the speed.
From what I've read, I can't seem to determine if the brake pressure switch will allow the light to come on or not. Should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?
Next fix - overhead console. That one seems simple.
On my 2009 F350 the cruise control won't stay on. The slightest bump and it turns off and I have to push the resume button. It's not the brake pedal/stop light as it will do it with me holding the pedal up. I'm guessing there is a vibration/crash sensor to turn off the cruise control in case of a wreck.

But it does come on when I hit the set/accel or coast button. But the cruise doesn't activate. I tried the self test and the Cruise light lights up after I hit all 4 buttons.
View 2 RepliesMy 2009 F350 cruise control has never worked since I bought it used and I'm trying to get it fixed without a trip to the dealer but to no avail unfortunately. I have replaced the cruise control switch on the master cylinder and I checked every fuse connected to the brake system and the brake switch works as far as I can tell. I also tried the diagnostic check where you turn the truck on while holding the off button on the cruise control but the cruise light never flashes. I also thought maybe it was the clock spring or the connection in the steering column being loose but the clock spring makes no noise and the horn and airbag all checkout so I'm at a loss.
View 2 RepliesMy 2000 F-350 SD 4X4 V-10 has no cruise control, and the A/C controls are not powered. Is it possible that both these power option circuits are run through a fuse link, and better yet, through the same fuse link? A/C has been troublesome in the past, but the cruise quit one day without warning. All fuses are good. Tried jumping the A/C pressure switch to recharge it, but no power is present.
View 4 RepliesJust bought the 03 listed in my signature line, and I just found out that the cruise control isn't working, so started trying to troubleshoot anything obvious.
When I switch it on, I get no cluster light that the manual shows to be to the right of the brake light. When I turn the key to run, it never lights up, so am guessing the bulb is bad.
Can't see how a bad bulb would keep the system from activating, so am thinking I have bigger issues. I pulled the fuse panel, but the manual does not have a listing for speed control. Which fuse it is combined into?
Also need the skinny on how to change the bulb. Can I reach my hand behind there? does the cluster have to come out?
Last question. What is the most likely culprit for non functioning cruise? A module? Perhaps the switch in the steering wheel?
Our cruise isn't working, I've read through the posts here and tried a few things
2000 F-250 V-10
-First symptom was the cruise light would light with the ON button and go off with the OFF button but I could not set the speed with the SET button. Now the cruise light hardly comes on at all any more.
- I've run the cruise self-test diagnostics and all the switch presses passed with no additional light blinks. After the static test the speed control servo makes a sound but does not move the throttle at all.
-The horn works
-Fuses are good
-Truck was taken to the dealer several years back for the cruise update. The pigtail with the green label is installed at the master cylinder. I've disconnected both connections and sprayed with contact cleaner.
That's about it. What it could be or what to test next?
I have a 2001 F-250 SD XLT with the ABS light on, cruise control doesnt work and the horn only works with the key out. The codes for the ABS is no signal input from the left and right front wheel sensors. No problem there. Also my speedo stops or jumps when I press the horn button while driving down the road. When I quit pressing the horn button the speedo works fine. So after looking over the posts on cruise control, etc. Does the rear speed sensor have anything to do with the cruise, horn not working? All fuses are good so I am thinking the cruise control switch on the master cylinder or a short in the steering wheel column or my ignition switch. What do you all think?

Cruise isn't working...... lights won't even come on and nothing happens at the switches.
This morning I put in a new airbag clockspring ...... just requires patience but not too hard to do.
That didn't resolve. Was going to put in new cruise switch at the brake master cylinder.
My question is would that part prevent the cruise control from even turning on at the steering wheel controls? I don't get any light or anything when I hit "on".
I checked literally every fuse in the under dash and under hood boxes. All are good. Is it likely it's the cruise switch?
I've just bought 2001 f-250 crew cab and when I push the cruise control on the steering wheel it does nothing. Maybe a fuse or does my year have one of those master cylinder switches?
View 12 Replies2000 F250 Super Duty cruise control not working. I looked through a lot of threads on this subject and cannot pin point my problem. Cruise control was working, had to slow down wile approaching a town, back on the highway and now it won't turn on.
Looked at the brake pressure switch, it was till good but was the old type but had the recall harness on it. Bought a new one and replaced it anyways. Still nothing. All my brake lights work, I also did the Cruise control diagnostic and it passes everything. No lights on my dash are on, speedometer works, horn works.
The only thing I did not check is the Vehicle speed sensor. Even though my speedometer works and my ABS light is not on, can this still be the problem? If so how do you test it? Do I just remove it and test continuity?

I did some research on why its not working checked wiring at the throttle body it seemed ok, Fuse is ok. Also did the self test and everything passed with just one flash but cruise still does not work. I read about many problems with the brake pressure switch but would it pass the self test if that pressure switch was bad? Also what should a switch cost. Local dealer wanted $125.00 for a new one and I have read where they cost around $15.00 - $20.00.
