2001 F450/6.8. The trim ring is missing on the shift lever switch and the switch doesn't seem to light up or take the truck out of overdrive when pressed. Truck shifts just fine in all other aspects. Fuses all appear to be good.
View 2 RepliesThe switch for turning overdrive off that's located on the auto trans shifter stopped working. I've taken off the column cover to see if the wires have been severed from the tilt wheel, but nothing wrong there. I also checked the fuses, and all is well. Is it possible that the switch is bad at the end of the shifter, or somewhere farther down the column?
View 14 RepliesOverdrive light started flashing this week on my 2000 F450 7.3 mason dump. It only does it when it shifts into 4th gear once it hits that gear at about 35mph the overdrive light flashes until you restart the truck and it resets. Does the same thing all the time but DOESN'T flash if i'm driving around town on back roads and never get to that gear. Could this be something minor besides the transmission starting to go? It drives and shifts fine even when the light is flashing. I wait to get the error code read?
View 10 RepliesI have a 2001 F250, 5.4, 4X4. My ignition key stuck in the start position and when I pulled it back to the run position, everything seemed ok. As I started down the road, my speedometer stopped working and my overdrive light was flashing. Also my turn signals had stopped working and my A/C clutch didn't engage. Figured I burnt a fuse. I looked in both the under dash and power distribution box and all seemed well. I checked the fuse for the turn signals/flasher and it was fine. The flashers worked. Thought I might have fried something so I replaced the ignition lock and switch. Also my service engine light came on throwing a code for the vehicle speed sensor.
Looking for solutions on this forum and the internet, I learned that the turn signal switch could have gone bad and the VSS sensor is on the top of the rear dif and an easy fix. Well replaced the sensor but nothing changed. So I went back to the fuse box. Examined every fuse, big and small and I found a 10a with a small space. This was #24 under the dash. From the manual, "#24, 10A, A/C clutch, Blend Door Actuator, Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay Coil, Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS), Turn Signal." Replaced it and everything went back to normal. Turn signals work, A/C clutch works, no flashing overdrive light and speedometer works. All from a 10A fuse. If you have any of these symptoms examine all the fuses carefully. There's a 20A fuse for turn/hazard lamps and this other one buried that's only 10A.
Just recently I started blowing PCM fuses (#19 in the fuse panel) After replacing lots of fuses, I finally figured out what was causing them to blow. I unhooked the overdrive switch, and no fuses blow. I can't see anywhere where the wire is chafed. Maybe it is chafed, and I can't see it or the switch is bad. Can the whole OD switch be replaced? If so, how??

View 5 RepliesI have a 7.3l 02 f450. The wipers won't work on any low speeds and only on the fastest will they work. And if you switch it from the fastest to any other speeds, the wipers stop right where they are.
View 1 RepliesMy overdrive recently stopped working on my 2003 F250 and I also noticed that the light on the shifter is not lit indicating that OD is off. When I push the button on the end of the shifter the off light doesn't come on like it used to. I have noticed that sometimes after I shut the engine off and re start it will go into overdrive as normal but the button will not light to off or turn OD off when pushed.
I have been reading about chafed wires in the column where it comes out of the shifter but most guys are saying their off light is blinking and their trucks will not come out of overdrive when the button is pushed. My question is, should I check for the chafed wires in the steering column? The transmission shifts great , just not going into OD all of the time and its killing my fuel mileage turning 2900 rpm at 65 mph.
Last year I bought a used '99 F350 w/ ~$135K miles on it. I later noticed that when I pressed on the Overdrive button (automatic transmission) which is on the steering column gear change lever, nothing happened. The overdrive light did not come on and the gear did not change to overdrive.
View 11 RepliesMy 01 450 V-10 dump truck had intermittent clutch petal problem. Petal would not return all the way. Had to pull it up then it worked ok for a while. Now it only works occasionally. Could it be the disk is collapsing or the master or slave? Any good how to video for replacement?

View 10 Replies2001 F450/6.8 gasser. Auto trans. This strange thing just appeared from nowhere. Start the truck, put it gear. As soon as the truck starts to roll, the chime begins to sound. If I continue on, it'll beep 80 or 90 times before stopping. As soon as brakes are applied and the wheels stop turning, chime disappears. Happens in forward or reverse. No lights appear in the cluster. A check with an Actron scanner shows no codes or MIL. Seat belts are buckled.

View 2 RepliesI have an '01 F350 super duty dually, 7.3L, auto trans. Over the past weeks my overdrive light on the gearshift would flash intermittently, maybe once every couple weeks. I chalked it up to a prior theft attempt where the steering column was damaged, and had turn signal/hazards issues after that.
Over the past few days my reverse gear has taken longer to engage, and is hard getting into the higher gears at speed. As of yesterday, reverse is out and won't shift out of second. Fluid level is good and clear. Could this be a PCM issue, or some sensor or relay?
I have just bought a 2004 F-250 SuperDuty 6.0 Diesel with 98k miles from a Ford dealer (no warantee)...
Just after I drove it home I noticed the Tow/Haul mode switch was not working - no dashboard light and no transmission downshifting.
The dealer took the truck back in and kept it for 2 days, it came back working, they claimed to have replaced the gear shift lever. 500 miles later and the Tow Haul has failed again.
On my 2008 SD F350 my number 1&2 settings on the fan don't work. Only 3&4. What's the problem? How do i fix it?

View 1 RepliesI have the ford upfitter switches in my 07 f350 and i had two flashing lights wired to switch 4 (10 amps) for snow plowing. The lights were LED and shouldn't have drawn much power but suddenly the lights stopped working because thers no power going to the fourth switch. They work on all the other switches. What could be the problem?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2000 Excursion LTD with a V10, auto, 2wd. My problem is in the multifunction switch...I have no high beam flash function when the headlights are off, nor will the high beams illuminate when the lever is pushed forward. All other functions work as expected. I feel that the malfunction is minor and may be nothing more than a poor contact or bad fuse. I would rather not have to buy a new switch.
View 6 RepliesI have a '99 Super Duty Club Cab and the driver side door lock switch is not working. Passenger side switch locks and unlocks both doors just fine. Full disclaimer, the driver side actuator is wearing out and doesn't work all the time but I can always hear it engaging when the passenger switch is activated. So I know the driver side actuator is on it's way out and have plans to replace it.
That being said here is what I have done that leads me to believe the driver side lock switch is fine and the problem lies elsewhere....I just don't know where. If I swap the driver and passenger lock switches, the drivers side switch will work when plugged into the passenger side but the passenger switch will no longer work when plugged into the driver side. This tells me the switch is fine and my problem lies somewhere else. Where I should start to track this problem down?
Just picked up a 2001 Gas F250 4X4 XLT. Everything seems to work except for the electric windows and ABS. I pulled both window switches and cannot find any voltage on the Blue/black cables. I jumped 12v to the drivers side switch and the windows work up and down even in auto. I have voltage at the 30a circuit breaker in the PDB but nothing at fuse #7 in the PCFP. I've checked for voltage at another connector with a Blue/black cable and found nothing. I'm thinking bad cable or GEM. I have noticed that the bell system doesn't sound when you have the key in the off position with the door open if that matters.
