My 02 Mountaineer doesn't have any air flow volume out of the heat, defrost, or a/c vents. The temp will change from hot to cold and the air direction will also change from floor, dash, windshield, etc. The a/c recirculation door also seems to be working. The fan sounds as it is running very fast, just not putting out any volume. What should I look for?
View 3 RepliesOn my new to me 02 Mountaineer, the a/c and heater air on my climate control system is acting up. Everything is working as it should, except that when you direct air to the floor, the air comes out the defrost vents. I took the glove box out and when looking from the passenger floor towards the center, I can see 2 actuators that seem to be working. I was wondering if there were more than 2 of them, maybe one on the drivers side that I am not seeing, Didn't know that if maybe when one closed that another one would open elsewhere. As I said everything else is working as it should. Also the recirculation door is working as it should. Something else that I noticed is that the top port(#6) on the row of the vacuum hose plug does not have a line on it. Where I can get a diagram or picture of the hvac system.
View 5 RepliesWhen the A/C is on in this car, the air flow is split between the defrost vents and the dash vents. I have read it may be a vacuum leak but don't know specifically where to look for it. Is there any way to manually redirect the air flow? Where to look for a vacuum leak? The air is cool but just misdirected.
View 11 RepliesI just picked up a 78 F150 Ranger XLT with a 351M in it this past friday. I am absolutely in LOVE with her. She is a great solid truck. One issue I am having though is that she blows hot air out the vents over the hump but nothing is coming out the top of the dash. I am guessing that i will have to take the dash off and clean out the box check the door etc. What did you do to rectify?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 F350 and there is nothing blowing out of the vents or defrost for AC or heat. It doesn't matter what fan speed is set. Would this indicate a blower motor? Where exactly is it located and how to change?
View 8 Replies2006 F250 with the dash controlled 4x4. I typically keep the front hubs locked on this truck. I have recently noticed that when shifting into 4x4 that the a/c or heat will switch from blowing out of the vents to blowing out of the defrosters. Any clues how to fix this?

My 02 V-10 Ex seems to be blowing Air from the front vents up to the Defrost unless it go through a series of events-- Hit Auto then forward Air then the fan has to be a 4 only. It will blow forward vents then go back and forth from theirr to the defrost. Also the Temp seems to be much hotter then it should.
Took a interstate trip this weekend though and it seems to blow much colder and do a little bit better staying in the front vents however still goes back and forth. Im in FL and its HOT!!!! The only thing I know is that its a vacuum system.. and that again its HOT in the truck as a daily driver.
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 3.0L truck that, all of a sudden, has a problem with the HVAC system that blows air only thru the defrost vents even when selecting any other vent levels (defrost, face/middle or floor levels).
I did find a thread on another forum regarding this problem, only it was for the 95-01 Ranger model years, yet they say that the 2002 Ranger is not the same as those earlier models.
Have a 02 with climatronic. You put it on vent and it blows out the vent. You press floor and it goes ape and the fan goes to max and nothing comes out the vents and nothing comes out the floor. IF you put it on floor only there is flow like normal. You can not have it on floor and vent. I drove 2 other passats and they both allow floor and vent. Havent been able to check codes because car has been at dealer for a week.

It came on a couple times since I bought it recently, usually after hitting a bump and stayed on for a while, but now it hasn't come on at all in a while. I checked all the fuses, they all looked good.

Instead, the Defrost vents push the AC air out. How to replace the vacuum check valve? I would like to avoid the high cost of dealership prices.

When I hit the glove compartment, the air starts to come out, but it is very low and stops after a minute or two. I just want to know if the blower motor is dying, and how to replace it, if it is really the blower.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 F250 with an intermittent AC problem. I had noticed over the past year that I only had high or low fan when adjusting my AC. Recently my AC has intermittently just not started blowing any air when I turn it on. When this occurs, I can put the fan on high and hear the clutch engage, however no air flow comes from the vents. I did some searching around and didn't find an answer. I was curious, where I might be best to start troubleshooting.
View 8 RepliesI just replaced the vacuum motor that opens and closes the Max Air door as it's diaphram was ruptured. Now it is working correctly, however when I go from normal to max the volume of air coming out the vents doesn't seem to increase. The door hasn't been working for about a year and I didn't realize why. Should the volume increase going to Max or just the air get colder from recirculating? In my Dodge the volume increases consderably. Could there be trash (leaves, things dropped through the defrost vents) partly blocking the air through the evaporator? How do I access to check and clean out? Remove the blower motor?
View 1 RepliesMy 2003 mountaineer 4.6L has front and rear heat. The issue is the heat in the front is barely warm and the heat in the back is poor. I have replaced the blend doors front and back and I'm sure they work as I can go from cold to barely warm and back again when I change the temperature setting.
I can feel hot fluid going from the engine to the front heater core and also down under the vehicle to the rear when the vehicle is warm. The return on the front is almost cold - so heat is being given up by the heater core in front, but it seems to me that if the return is almost cold, there's not enough hot coolant delivery. The overall heat is very poor in the cabin.
The coolant temperature gauge is steady and just below 1/2 with no erratic movements. I flushed the front heater core a couple years ago. Coolant has also been flushed last year. I know that the heat is underpowered in this vehicle, but it's a far cry from when it was new.
I have a 1996 Ford Aerostar 3L. The Air Vents in the cabin are not flowing any air, whether on cold/hot/vent/defrost etc. I can hear it click on but no air flow. I used to have the same problems as some previous posts where the air would only flow in the dash or in the floor but now no air at all. Fuses are all good.
View 5 RepliesSo i got the UM tune done to my car then went and got my TT cams installed. After giving me car the 50 miles to adjust for the cams i get a CEL P0103 Mass or volume air flow circuit high input. Checked the connections around the maf and im noting seeing any broken vac lines or anything out of the ordinary.
Cleaned the maf and cleared the code but the CEL popped back up, got a new maf just because I like spending money on things i dont need and the CEL is still there, low speed or high speed it will pop on.
Is there anything I am missing that could be causing this problem or something i can try other then take to the place that did my cams?

I have a 2001 E150 and when i turn the AC/heat/air on it will only come out the defrost vents. Whenever i flip the switch left or right nothing comes out, but when i put it on defrost it works... but only through the defrost vents....
View 5 RepliesThe air flow with ac and heat is low on my ford ranger. I can hear the blower change speeds, but on high, it barely comes out. The temp is fine and achanges from cold to hot like it should. i had the ac checked out by a shop that that does free checks - no problems with lines or compressor. I replaced the blower motor. The air changes from defrost to floor and all the positions fine, but the air flow out all the vents just isn't what it should be. It was working fine the first couple of days. I've read about the blend door motor, but I haven't read about people having this exact problem. I am almost to the point of bringing is to the dealer, but would rather fix it myself.
2007 Ford Ranger ... 6 cyl. 3.0 L ...
2003 f150 lariat FX4 5.4L ... The heater only blows on defrost, Which vacuum line controls this? is it the black one that runs through the fire wall? What else can I check to narrow the problem down? this truck has the push button/digital controls.
