I have a 2007 Ford Fusion AWD and noticed a humming noise as I was driving last night. It started when I got near 50mph and seemed to stop or get so quiet as to be not noticeable when I got to 40 or put the breaks on. What this might be?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE 2.3L 4 cylinder. It has approximately 94,000 miles on it. I purchased new Sumitomo tires with a 100,000 mile warranty in February of this year. They were balanced and aligned at the time of install. So far they have been very smooth and quiet with great grip. About 2 months ago I started hearing a noise that sounds like uneven tire wear, a sort of rhythmic rubbing or wobble sound that increases in frequency as the speed increases. It is most noticeable at speeds between 30 and 50mph. I rotate the tires every other other change (at least twice a year) and had the alignment done again in late October. I am hoping that there is nothing wrong with my virtually brand new tires. Is there anything else it could likely be?
View 2 RepliesWhile I drive I am experiencing a rubbing or humming sound near the front of the car. The sound is there at all times when the car is moving but seems to lessen when turning in either direction. The faster the car goes the faster the hum. Pressing the brake or accelerator only slows or quickens the humming but doesn't change the intensity. The car is a '96 Ford Taurus that I have owned for less than a year. The issue has only been occurring for two or three months.
View 3 RepliesSo here I am at just under 500 miles on the odometer, and I'm beginning to notice a strange rattle sound when driving. This rattle occurs either after I let off the throttle in any gear, or when the RPMs are dropping from 2500 - 1000. It happens only for a short moment and it almost sounds like something tapping a few times somewhere on the axle or drivetrain. I first actually noticed it when my music was turned up because I could feel the vibration in the steering wheel. Anyways, I have a call out to the service department to have it looked at ASAP.
View 1 RepliesJust had a hub get stripped a few weeks back and had to replace the whole hub assembly. Now just a few weeks later, I started developing this strange rubbing, almost scraping sound when backing of the garage in reverse and the diving speeds of like 5-10 mph. It has to be wheel related becuase the sound goes in and out as the wheel goes around.
Put the car up on jack stands , checked fender plastic underneath the wheel wells, dchecked the dust sheild on the rotors, checked the tires out, even spun the rotor around with my hand and I couldn't replicate the sound?
Just Started about 5 days ago and was only noticeable at slow speeds every other day, then today it seemed worse and I can almost hear it when driving 25-35 mph and I'm also starting to feel it in the steering and body of the car as a vibration.
I just want to get this car back running smooth... Just put new suspension on as well, new strut bearings, but I had to reuse the strut mounts because the dealership was out of mounts. Don't think the suspension has anything to do with it, but you never know. How to upload a video... I can see if I can somehow record the sound.
On my way home from work the other day my 2000 7.3l started making a humming sound while driving. I noticed that it was shifting harder and it began to slam into gear when I would take off from a stop. By the time I pulled into the driveway I had to be half way into the pedal to keep it moving. I shifted into reverse and it clunked loudly and didn't want to back up. I don't know much about transmissions but I'm thinking that it's probably shot. I'm hoping that it's something other than a complete rebuild but doubtful.

View 1 RepliesI've had a issue since I've owned my 2015 purchased new that I didn't get a chance to take in again until recently. I have a little fluid that leaks out of the Hybrid coolant reservoir. This is not the one attached to the radiator for the ICE, I have an issue with the hybrid component one. When I first received my car the fluid was above the full level. After a few times wiping it up I stopped by and had the dealer remove the excess fluid from the reservoir until it was at the MAX line. After a little while I noticed some fluid continued to seep/leak out and I'm at the low line now. I recently took my car in again to take care of a few things before the bumper to bumper expires. When I received the car back I didn't fully review my paperwork until I got home. I saw the comment that "Normal characteristics of the Hybrid cooling system" ...
A second issue I have is I get a squeak sometimes when I start driving the car. Sounds like it's coming from the front wheel, it's not a constant squeak, but one that happens with each rotation of the wheel. They were unable to recreate the issue as it's random. Brakes were checked and no issue found. I'll have to see if I can get it to show the issue for the service rep.
6K mile 2011 Santa Fe Limited front wheel drive V6 and I am getting a humming/howling sound at 55+ MPH and it is very annoying, not too loud but there. It is really bad at 75+...
The tires were road forced balanced and a alignment was done by the dealer. The Rear was way out of align but they supposedly fixed it.
I do not get any kind of vibration in the body or steering wheel but the humming/howling sound is terrible. Almost like when you crack one of the rear windows and you get that pressure sound...
I have an '07 Ford Fusion with 94,000 miles. The check engine light came on a couple of days ago, so I took it to a shop to have them pull the codes on it. The code that came up said the coolant was not reaching the proper temperature, and the mechanic told me the thermostat should probably be replaced.Two questions:
1. Should I go ahead and get it done, or wait and see if the check engine light comes back on? I usually only drive the vehicle about 10 miles a day, and it's all city driving.
2. What kind of cost should I be looking at? He said it would be a system flush, replacing the coolant and thermostat (which they would get from a dealer).
My daughter has a 2007 Ford Fusion with brake issues. Brakes are squishy after the car is "jarred" (i.e. hits a bump or pothole). The brakes go almost all the way to the floor and return to normal after a driving for a while. All the work described below has been performed by Ford dealers (at great expense): Master Cylinder replaced, all brake pads replaced. Brakes have been bled numerous times. When we bring it in they bleed it and say it's fine, next "bump" and the problem comes back. We're really at our wits end, the car is, at many times, scary to drive.
View 12 RepliesMy son has a 2006 Ford Fusion auto transmission, that he bought used. 6mths. after he bought it he started to have a problem w/the transmission. Runs fine on highway but when he would stop, then give it gas, it would not go and RPM's would race up then clunk into gear and go. He had it replaced by the same people w/a new rebuilt one. It seemed fine for a bit and all of a sudden it started again. Also now with a faint ticking sound when taking off. Problem is he is now on a trip across the country from NE. to Oregon He has made it their safely but i have been meaning to write. Transmission or something else?
View 2 RepliesSo today while driving my '98 Mercury Grand Marquis home I noticed a leak was coming from behind the rear right tire.. Or I'm guessing it's a leak ? But it's kinda like a grease substance and it sure does smell bad! It's all over the backside of the tire and muffler (probably why it smells).
While driving it there is a low humming sound? Best way I know how to describe it and if I go over 60mph it gets increasingly louder.. After looking up some forums online I came across that it could be a possible wheel bearing or maybe a bad axle problem?
I have 2007 Camry that makes a humming noise when A/C and audio are on at the same time. Pitch increases as I press on the gas pedal and decrease to a steady level as I depress on the gas pedal. What could be a cause of this phenomenon?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 Ford Fusion (I4). Recently the brake pedal goes extremely soft after the anti-lock brake system engages. It can still brake, but I have to press the pedal almost to touching the floor. It will stay soft a while (at least 20 min, probably longer), but I found that if I pump them hard a few times (like while at a red light) it then returns to normal.
My mechanic can't figure out why it doesn't immediately return to normal after the ABS engages, and he's not sure what to replace to fix it. I don't have the cash right now to just go replacing lots of stuff, hoping it might work.
(He even mentioned the possibility of removing the ABS fuse to prevent the ABS from kicking in and triggering the problem. Though wouldn't that be a step backward, safety-wise? I always heard that ABS is much more effective than pumping brakes manually...)
What's causing this and how to fix it?
I've got a strange sound coming from the front axle. I want to rule out/in that it may be my auto lock hubs. Can I slide the hubs out and drive around? I dont see any problem I won't be offroad, just some miles to test it.
View 1 RepliesI've been getting a strange *whoop*-like sound inside the cabin of my vehicle.....very difficult to explain, and it occurs even when the stereo system is turned off......I hear a series of *whoop-whoop-whoop* sounds, sometimes just a short burst, other times they can last for 5 to 6 seconds. Try explaining that to your service department.....they think you are crazy.

My 09 FX4 Screw has developed a strange thumping sound coming from the undercarriage within the last month or so. Very noticeable when turning on even terrain. It's just barely under warranty and I am planning on taking it to the dealer.

My father in law has an 04 EX with the 5.4. It has a weird sound coming from the front passenger side. He listened to the jiffy lube kid who told him it was the brakes. I pulled one side completely apart tonight and the brakes are fine. We took it for a drive so I could hear the noise. It is coming from the passenger side up front. It is intermittent.
Doesn't matter if we hit a bump or pot hole. It sounds like a cat being run over. It will either last for a few seconds or just really quick. I crawled underneath and could not find anything loose. The first time I heard it I thought it was a shock. But the second time it was way too long to be a shock. And they are only a year old.
Secondly, it has a cat, and two mufflers..... Is this normal?
