Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Wiper / Turn Signal Multi-function Switch Replacement
Jan 3, 2017
Looking for a tutorial on how to remove the multi-function switch? I have the, seemingly, common issue of wipers not turning off. I bought the new switch, but don't see how to get it out without taking the whole steering wheel off. I can't get to the screws on it at all. I got the plastic covers off, but can't see how to get the switch out.

Well now I have to replace the multi function switch due to moving my steering wheel and the headlights sometimes working and turning signals not working. I saw a great video on youtube about changing a Multi Function Switch and it shows where the air bag needs to be removed. I was hoping that since my truck is an older 1997 F250 LD I wouldn't have to remove the airbag. Is there a way to do this w/out messing with the airbag on the 1997?

Started truck, used windshield washer and noticed High Beam Indicator was lit on dash. Headlight switch not on. Drove to Ford dealer, turned off truck, high beams would not shut off. Dealer replaced the Turn Signal/wiper/High beam switch assembly. Dealer had one in stock. Service manager said they have replaced a few of these Switches. So if your High Beams come on without the headlight switch on you cannot turn them off even if you shut off and exit truck. Also the "You left your lights on warning chime" does not sound when you exit truck.

I have a 2000 Excursion LTD with a V10, auto, 2wd. My problem is in the multifunction switch...I have no high beam flash function when the headlights are off, nor will the high beams illuminate when the lever is pushed forward. All other functions work as expected. I feel that the malfunction is minor and may be nothing more than a poor contact or bad fuse. I would rather not have to buy a new switch.

My parking lights go on and off when the car is off. I had problems with the headlights flashing about 3 years ago and fixed it with spaying contact cleaner and air in the multi function switch and that fixed that. I tried the same thing several times to try and fix the blinking tail lights but doesn't work. I just replaced the (LCM) lamp control module but still does it. Somebody told me today that it could be the security module. I'm thinking that the multi-function switch needs to be replaced. Is there a fuse or a way to shut down the (LCM) and just turn the lights on and off manually?

Jumped in the truck this evening to go to the store and when I stared it up the left turn signal was blinking. Lifted the arm as usual to cancel and it does not cancel. Cannot get the left signal off unless I hold the turn signal up for the right signal. The right signal does not activate, but the left does go out as long as I hold the arm up. Let go and the left starts blinking again. Tried driving around to see if it would cancel and no luck. The bulbs are all good. I checked the relays in the fuse panel and they are good. Dang thing just won't shut off. It is a 2011 F150 SCREW Platinum w/5.0.

Driving the wife's 150 EB today and is it just me or is the noise made by the turn signal relay really loud??

2014 lariat crew w/10k miles...let son drive it on date & somehow came back with snapped off turn signal/multi-switch...had local mechanic replace-now button on end doesn't activate wipers or washer spray (actual wiper switch works, as does dimmer function & signals). Mechanic rechecked & says all ok but switch may need to be programmed by dealer...really?? Seems like it would b plug-n-play. Why just the washer function wouldn't work?

I have read and re-read the owners manual fuse section. Can't find what fuse I blew. I do not have trailer brake or turn signal on either side. I do have running lights on the trailer. Which fuse or fuses control the brake and turn signal lights on a 2012 F-150 ecoboost. I had them all a month ago, but bought a new trailer and first time I pulled it the lights went out. Figured I blew a fuse, but can't find the one! No power at the receiver.

I have just bought on 09 XLT, and wouldn't you know it, I was behind a Lariet that made a left hand turn, and then I saw something my truck does not have... the turn signal LED at the bottom left hand side of it's mirror. And guess what? Now I want that too! I have seen some other threads about this on other web sites, but as far as I am concerned, this site is the last word on anything Ford truck! I have a couple of questions:
What is the Ford part # for the mirror turn signal lights? Also I would like to install the reflectors in front of the mirrors so I can add LEDs to them too. What is the part numbers for the front reflectors? And lastly, I would like to try not to tear up more than I need too, so would there already be the turn signal wires I could connect inside the mirror housing? Or since this does not have that option from the factory am I going to have to take the mirror off the truck and run those myself?

I have an issue that popped up on my 2012 F-150 today. I was driving a bit today and when I returned home and shut the truck off I noticed that the right turn signal indicator stayed faintly illuminated. None of the lights outside are affected, and they all work normally, just that the indicator on the dash is staying lit.
The only thing I can see is that last week I smashed up the drivers side mirror and it busted the lens off of the LED lights in the mirror and 1 LED bulb is exposed. It did rain a bit today but I figured it would short out and blow a fuse if anything.
I will undo the negative battery cable tomorrow and see if it will reset, if not I will have te dealer check it out when I drop it off to have the roof reprinted next week.

So I am receiving this notification when I turn my switch on to just have my radio on. I don't have a reason to believe that the battery is bad as I just bought the truck from a dealer last Thursday. Searches come up it is a known glitch in the safety feature that cannot be disabled and is happening with good batteries.

I thought I saw someone had converted the reflectors on the front of the side mirrors to turn signal flashers on the 2010-2012 F150. Where I can find that write up?

If I just touch the starter and quickly release the switch, the engine continues to turn over until it starts. Does 2010 F-150 with a 5.4 do this?

So I'm not sure if it's something I did or an actual issue. I've had my t-reg less than a week and I just noticed that for some reason the turn signals don't seem to function properly.
Here's what happens: The signals outside the car (incl. side view mirrors) will work. But I get no clicking noise and the indicators on the dash do not light up (same issue with hazzards). I turned the car on/off and the radio on/off and nothing.
So I turn around and come back home to call my VW dealer, but all of a sudden the signals just started working again after I restarted the car. Did I do something?

I just bought a 93 XL and had some parts to replace.
Had to replace the clock spring and wiper/signal assembly to restore the wiper squirter function, cruise, horn and airbag.
Thing about the repair is that now my cruise quits holding the set speed when I lift the turn signal to change lanes from the left to right lane or turning right.
Does not turn the cruise off; it just does the same as hitting the brake. When I hit the resume button, she goes back to the set speed. Replaced it with a new assembly, thinking it was a defective part. Not so.
The replacement part is not OEM.

I have a 2012 Ford Focus. The switch for the wipers does not turn on the wipers. However, sometimes the wipers go intermittently when the switch is off - even if ignition is off (and key removed).

I have a 2004 Prius with 108,000 miles on it. The MFD is starting to spaz out and work intermittently. It just started to stop working, would be listening to some music and all the sudden would die, no temp, no climate control, no avg mpg, no miles driven, no battery info, the base screen would be there without any data. So its sometimes there when I start the car and sometimes not, sometimes it dies and others it cames back. I called my local Toyota dealer they suggested I needed to replace the Multi-Function-Display with a refurb. I am wondering if there might even be a way to fix the glitch in my current unit...

The wife was driving the 07 XLE 4 cylinder the other morning. Temperature was around 2 F. She started the car. It started right up. Drove for around 5 minutes and shut the car off and went in to a store for 5 minutes. When she came back out and restarted the car an "E" appeared in the XLE's multifunction display and the low tire pressure light was also on. The car would not shift out of Park. The wife called me. I told her to shut it off and try restarting it. Same thing.
I then told her to shut it off and take the key out of the ignition and then try reinserting it and restarting it. That worked; it eliminated both codes and the car was able to be shifted normally out of Park. Since I still have about 10 months coverage left on my Platinum Extended Warranty the wife and I took the car over to the dealer. When I had my wife explain what happened to the dealer's service writer he just said I have never even heard of the "E" symbol. The tech said he never heard of it either. They did check out the car's shift/interlock system including the brake light switch, but could find nothing wrong.

My MFD now only shows the Toyota Logo, whatever I do. Also, I cannot play music. The trick with pressing (hold) INFO and headlights three times does not bring up a diagnostic screen. My theory is that the MFD is waiting for some signal over the network before showing the usual screen (and it never gets that signal). Some years ago, I had a third party fit a new audio tuner and player (non-Toyota), and that worked more or less fine for years.
They had to leave the old faulty Toyota audio in the circuit to make it all work, and they said to leave the graphic equaliser on even settings, and then forget it. The old Toyota audio CD changer had failed, but the rest was OK. My 'guess' is that they had to leave the old audio device connected because it terminates the AVC-LAN with a 60 ohm resistor. Maybe that connection came off, and now the LAN signals are not good, and the MFD is locked up 'always waiting' for the signal from an ECU.
