Smells like antifreeze but i can't find any leaks or wet spots on the carpet and the coolant level is good where should I look. Just replaced heater core last winter.
View 8 RepliesI have a 13 5.0l, right now its at about 36 k and the next oil change is scheduled for 39k (kilometers), starting today whenever I fire it up i get the change oil soon prompt on my cluster monitor. So I checked the oil and it is at a good level and looks clean, but it smells like 2 stroke/it smells like there's gas in it.
I will call the dealer tmo morning and see what they say. Has any one else ran into this issue with there coyotes or egoboosts? I did google the issue and it seems like a problem with a fuel pump diaphragm?
I changed my Oil Saturday and noticed an oily wetness on the pan and couple of those "droplets" at the forward edge of the transmission. Its clearly motor oil. Im takin it in next week. Its not too bad to drive it but at only 14000 miles I am surprised.
View 1 RepliesI noticed an Oil leak of sorts on my truck( 2011 quad 4x4 f150 with ECO) when i did an oil change. Took it in and basically this is what i was told. Tranny was leaking from front seal and to to be removed for repair, upon further inspection the tech noticed the trans fluid appeared to be darker than normal. He tore it down and seen that the clutch plates and other components were excessively worn for a truck with only 15,000 miles. So any way the trans was about to have a catostrophic failure. Its getting replaced.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2011 SCREW Eco-Boost with a build date in April 2011. I have a gravel driveway. When I first got the truck I noticed small dark spots in the gravel but attributed it to the A/C. I parked over some fresh snow the other night and found some fluid stain on the ground in the morning. It was kind of by the motor and then a little further back. It was the color of yellow/chartruse antifreeze but the truck has pink antifreeze in the overflow tank. What is going on?

2006 overheats and starts blowing white smoke, smells like antifreeze, added 2 gals of water to make it 1 mile home. Smokes on the way @195 temp and when I shut it off it smokes out tailpipe for another 3 min. Smells like the head gaskets just went, what should I check? The eot and ect have been 10 deg or less.
This has 225,000 miles on it ran great before this, so would it be stupid too not get a redone set of heads while I'm doing the gaskets and studs?
I was thinking of getting heads from here, UCF Machine Shop - Precision machining, engine rebuilding and more. Cummins + Ford Rebuild Specialist. And a Sinister Diesel Complete Solution For Ford Powerstroke 2003-2007 6.0L. Are these the right places to deal with or should I look elsewhere?
I gave my daughter my 2007 Malibu Maxx in 2010. It had at the time around 70,000 miles. Then the problems with the cooling system antifreeze leaks. We've replaced the radiator 9/2011. Drove ok for awhile then developed a leak again spring 2012. Chevy dealer in 4/2012 says wed need a new coolant tank. Replaced that no problems until 10/2012. Leaks again then Chevy dealer says we need a new water pump. Replaced that item.
Guess what here we are in Feb of 2013 and we have another leak. Back to the dealer and they say that a radiator cap located midway down the radiator was broken apart and they replaced that. All procedures done by dealers have included a pressure check save for when the radiator was replaced. So here we are at March 1, 2013 three days after the last repair and radiator fluid is leaking from the right front of the car again. What could possibly be the problem???
I noticed that if i'm turning my car on for the first time in a day (12-24 hours) on a hot day (80F + ) , the compressor on the AC doesn't kick on for about 3-4 minutes. It just blows out hot air for those first few minutes. Once it kicks on and i turn the car off and then on again some time during the day the compressor kicks on right away and cold air starts to blow normally.
My RX350 pumps out cold air almost asap, and so did my accord. My AC seems to have a musty smell if it hasn't been turned on in a few days either. it goes away as soon as air starts moving. How do I get rid of this permanently?
I have a question with aftermarket exhaust (particularly JoeZ and Borla) I was wondering after you installed the exhaust do you now get increased exhaust fume smells in the cabin when the windows or moonroof is open? When I had my 350(F-sport exhaust) I couldn't cruise with the moonroof open without filling the cabin up with fumes.
View 14 RepliesThis is the second time that this has been happening. Noticed that it only happens when I use tiptronic (manual). First time I was driving hard then floored brake become light turned yellow. Few minutes later, a rotten, sulfur, egg smell came out of no where and my sister thought I passed gas (when I did not).
Second time that happened was when I dropped off my friend late at night, went on manual but this time I drove casually & normally and didn't go crazy. As soon as my friend got off, there's more of a burnt smell then with a hint of a rotten egg that took place in my car.
My car is 2009 and has only 83k miles in it. Read to a similar scenario online and seems like my catalytic converter needs to be replaced.

Woke up this morning and found a red light blinking by my shift knob. It was the passenger air bag. There was a lock on it. How come its doing that? My car is turned off. Could there be a problem with my air bag or was it just a code?

View 2 RepliesJust purchased a 2014 Elantra Limited in August 2014. Two months later, I started having a slow leak in my right rear tire. Was manageable at first, just thought maybe it was the weather getting colder, but finally had to take it in for service and had it looked at. They said I had a nail in the INSIDE SIDEWALL, and it was not covered under warranty, so I had to buy a new tire.
Within a month of buying the first new tire, my right FRONT tire started doing the same thing. Now, I'm having to fill it every day. Just scheduled another service appointment to have it looked at.
I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla LE with about 48,000 miles on it. Today I was changing the oil, and when I unscrewed the oil filter some anti-freeze came out of it.
I am not super mechanically inclined so I called a friend who works at a shop (he's not a mechanic) and he said it could be a blown head gasket, but also could be coolant or pipe leak. I still have a powertrain warranty on the car, but I was wondering if this is a normal issue for 2011 Corolla's, or maybe a different problem?
My car was shaking badly during idle and the Engine and VSC Off lights came on simultaneously. I took it to a local garage (not dealership) and they said that there is anti-freeze leaking into a cylinder. They said the only way to clean it out/fix it is to first remove the entire engine from the car so it could be worked on. It will cost a total of $2,700. My engine has 141,000 miles on it so they said this may be risky since it is so used. They said for $3,500 they could swap it with an engine that only has 31,000 miles on it (and a 6 month guarantee.) By numbers this sounds like a no brainer (I am assuming?) but I am curious if swapping the engines would be worth it seeing as the rest of the car has still traveled 141,000 miles. I have kept it in good condition and such though. I am also curious if the engine really does need to be removed to fix this sort of problem or it it could be done cheaper.

View 6 RepliesI took my 2009 VW Tiguan (which I purchased last week used from the VW dealership in Barrie Ontario) out for a drive earlier today. When I left, the ground under where it was parked was clean and dry. I came back after about an hour of driving and parked it. Then, this evening, after it sit for about 6 hours, I went out to put something in the car and noticed a puddle under the wheel. It hadn't rained and I could see/smell that the puddle was red engine coolant.
I checked the engine coolant and it was low. It's like it sprang a leak all of a sudden while it was sitting there - like someone cut a hose or something. I did a look over the engine with a flashlight and couldn't see any slashed hoses or anything. Tomorrow I'm going to call the dealership and see what they say. I'll update here with what I learn.
I have a 2009 Toyota Matrix that has 127,000 miles on it. It has had several sources of oil loss in the past year and now it just seems to be burning it. I am very skeptical that a toyota engine is burning oil at 127,000miles. I replaced a part called a pcv valve as well as a seal that was causing leakage. Now I am losing about a quart every 1000 miles and no leaks can be found. Any other things that would cause oil loss besides burning?
View 9 RepliesStarted a while back and comes and goes. Only commonality I have found is the truck needs to be warmed up for it to happen and usually after a few hours of driving. The downshift from 5th or 6th into fourth, at times, produces anywhere from a light to violent clunk, feels like a typical tranny slip. It will do it while in cruise and it will do it if I don't have the cruise on. Can't figure out if it is going to be a tune issue or hardware.
It does it only downshifting into 4th from 5th or 6th, no other downshifting is a problem and usually the 6th to 4th produces the worst results. At highway speeds that is usually a shift from around 2Krpm to just over 3K rpm (6th to 4th) if it is from 5th it is about 2500 to 3K. Start from a stop and go WOT and there are no issues.
Having it in Tow/Haul or not makes no difference as far as I can tell. IT can do it on one hill and the next time be just fine or do it 2-3 hills in a row. After this last trip it will do it at 9K feet or at 60 feet elevation, didn't make a difference there either.
Another issue that may be hurting the computer is the truck originally came with the 235 tires, it now has 285's and the rear is only 3.31. I plan on going with 265's and maybe still a gear change to 3.73's in the future. I usually only notice this on long trips, first was a 1500mile hauling an ATV, second was last week during a 2500 mile empty. Although I have had it do it a few times locally. I figure those bigger tires can't be good especially with that high of a rear for the management system.
