Ok well I am not much for roasting the tires anymore but like to wheel a little, but how in the heck do I turn off the traction and/or stability control? Never done it before.
View 4 RepliesEvertime I turn left the brake light, traction control and stability control lights come on and the car starts dinging. Mechanic says it could be front wheel bearings because they are tied to the ABS system??? But I have been seeing alot about wheel speed sensors?
Second, everytime I brake suddenly, a cloud of smoke comes from the front end and there is a burning oil smell. The oil is fine and no leaks. Again mechanic says it could be a cracked CV boot throwing grease?
Lastly everytime I put in reverse or when I lightly put pressure on the brakes when driving I get this noise like a humming (errrrrrr) noise. Its not the grinding/squealing noise you would get when brake pads needs replaced. I only have 60k miles on this.
I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe with 43,000 miles. Recently the check engine light, the vehicle stability control light and the traction control system light all came on simultaneously. Since then they have all come on or all gone off several times. Usually once they come on, they stay on for the remainder of the trip. Sometimes they will still be on when I next start the car, sometimes they will be off. What might be causing this?

My ABS and stability control lights are on. I had the codes pulled today (listed in order):
1) C1298 (Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Fault)
2) C1165 (Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Circuit Failure)
3) C1963 (Stability Control Inhibit Warning)
4) C1299 (Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Fault)
5) C1175 (Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Circuit Failure)
I'll ignore the stability control code for now since I'm sure it is tied to the speed sensor errors. Anyways, I decided to inspect the rear wheels and I found this sucker just hanging beneath the right rear brake caliper:
Is this a speed sensor? Where does it plug into? Diagrams would be extremely useful! I am planning on ordering 2 new sensors for each rear wheel but I don't know where to begin.
I cant find any info on this for the B6..
Is it just a standard LSD?
Is there any way to completely disable traction and stability control. I know pushing the button is supposed to disable stability control but I was told that you can't actually completely disable it.
View 5 RepliesI never noticed since I purchased my new truck about a month ago that my traction control has been on since I bought it in just curious if it suppose to be turned of or can I leave it like this I don't want to hurt anything mechanically by leaving it on I never new with the light being on means it's off one day on accident I hit it by mistake and it said off but in all honestly have I did any damage with it being on and fringing it all the time keeping it on hurt the engine rear end or tranny at all.....

View 14 RepliesI have a 09 150 FX4, the traction control that ford put in the 150's is terrible. Even with it shut of, it still cuts power to the drivetrain. I saw a thread on here a while back about a Ford tech who changed a few parts from his 150 to Raptor parts to eliminate the traction control and keep the electronic locking rear end to stay engaged at any speed. i have the part numbers that he listed. I can not find the thread to get the rest of the information and how he made out. Disengage the traction control on F150?

This has happened to me a few times in the past, but has never stayed in after multiple start ups (and other remedial action). 2-3 times it's happened on startup, and cleared after a restart, one time while driving, and cleared on its own. I have a 2009 F150 with 35" tires and a front leveling kit. When cornering the traction control light comes on. I have talked to a few people, some are baffled and one said that it may be a programming issue. The tires are steel belted federal couragia mud terrain.
View 7 RepliesI have a 11 f150 with a 5.0 can I Disable the traction control? All I can do now is turn it off on the dash and it kicks back in at 20mphish and it absolutely sucks in snow! Other than pulling a fuse do I have any other options?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2009 f150 fx4, scab. It has 7500 miles. The truck was parked for three days. I go to use the truck and the ABS light is on, as well as the traction control icon. I drove it for 2 hours or so. Turned the ignition off and back on, ABS is still on.
View 4 RepliesI've had an issue twice with the truck stuck in park. Both times I pulled battery cables and it reset itself. This time is different; the truck is stuck in park, the chime doesn't work when you open the door, the screen flashes tire pressure monitor fault and the traction control light blinks on and off. Not only that, the radio does not work, nor does the heat/air. I've got to believe with that many things its the body control module gone bad? Truck is a 2010 crew cab with the 5.4 btw...
View 14 RepliesI own a 2008 Suzuki XL7, purchased new from the dealership in 2008. Recently, the vehicle sounds a dinging alarm inside the cab of the vehicle & the dash lights up w/ "Service Traction Control" & "Service Stability Control" warnings. These warnings appear sporadically - not at startup - but sporadically while I am driving, and in no specific time pattern. We have had the brakes checked, diagnostics run at a mechanic shop, purchased new tires, and changed the fuses. We have googled Suzuki websites & found that other people are having this problem, but no one seems to have a solution.
View 1 RepliesFor some reason, when I go up/down driveways, pull into parking lots with sloped curbs, etc, my traction control will engage and there is a grinding noise in the back on the back brakes. I don't know if this is normal or not. I had all the brakes replaced recently but that didn't stop the issue, so I don't know if this is just normal or what. 2009 F-150 FX4 5.8 .... Had a couple days of 20's temps, started truck last night and I have the brakes symbol and ABS light staying on, with the message "Check brake system" and the traction control symbol alternating back and forth. On a 16 mile trip, they all went out just once, for about ten seconds when I restarted at the gas station. Then came back on. Brake job done within the last two years by previous owner at the dealership.
