My 2010 f150 Ford 5.4 liter Extended Cab Pickup Heater Fan has a mind of it's own. It is on high and will not go down or off. The icon works, looking like the fan is increasing or decreasing, but it does not. Is there a quick fix for this problem. I watched a YouTube on the problem maybe being the Blower Motor Resistor Control. If this is right, what is the procedure to fix the problem?
View 7 RepliesOk so this morning it finally got cold here. Around 10F degrees outside. Had a light coat of frost on the truck'just enough to make it hard to see out the windshield. I had the defrost on, fan speed set to high, temp. control set to high. After 20 minutes of driving it still wasn't getting hot in the truck. I had made a clear spot on the windshield so I could see to drive but the rest of it never cleared. Took the cabin of the truck forever to warm up at all. The fan doesn't seem to blow very hard on the highest setting on this truck. Air doesn't get very hot either. What's the issue here? Is this normal for these trucks? You'd think that on a truck that's commonly used in fleets and for work crews that they'd have designed these things with awesome heaters. Dang it's gonna' freeze me to death this winter.

What this may be and how to verify the issue? I'm interested in taking care of this myself if it is easy/moderate level of difficulty to isolate issue and fix.

The seat heater module on drivers side went out and the back slider window leaks water bad when we take it through the car wash. Is this possible? We were told nothing of this when we purchased it from this same Ford dealer.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2010 F-150 which has a problem that the dealer cannot figure out. When I leave the heater/air on when I shut the truck off upon restart the heater/air is off. The heater/air will turn on if I restart the truck within a few minutes but if it is left for say 15mins it seems the truck forgets where the heater switch was upon shut down. This causes a huge problem for my remote starter as the selection I need does not come on after leaving the vehicle for a time.
The codes for the truck are OK according to the dealer.
Very strange things happening with 2009 F350 Gas, first the heater blower only is now working on high, progressively has gotten worse, low settings started not working a while ago, now only high works. Just recently the strangest thing, start the truck OK, turn on radio OK, turn lights on then the radio goes off. Will bring it to dealer in a day or two if I can't figure this one out.
View 3 RepliesAs the title says, my 2013 F-150 XLT lost all heater function and rear window/side mirror defrost function. It all worked fine this morning on the way to work but when I got out I had nothing. Looked at fuses under the hood, nothing is blown. Could it be a relay? The led lights in the buttons on the module still light up and I can hear the vent doors open and close when I change modes.

View 2 RepliesSo the other morning I drive the 140 miles out of town to work for the week. when I pull up to the job site the cooling fans were revving really really high! never heard this before. then it went back to normal after I opened the gate and parked my truck and shut it off. I'm driving maybe 5 miles tops to the job and back to the motel every day. however that is far enough that my heater should be warming up and it's not even coming close to warm. it blows cold air. and to compound that I'm not sure the cooling fans are even working. they don't appear to be. Is there a connection here?
2011 xlt 4x4 super crew.....
I have a 2013 Lariat with 135K miles. Yesterday started a loud and consistent clicking under the center dash. When I turn the heater up to 77 degrees or above it stops. I have dual AC controls and the passenger side will now occasionally blow hot compared to the driver side when I have them on the same temperature.
Based on what I have researched I need to replace my heater blend door. Need to confirm if this sounds correct? Are there different blend doors for driver vs. passenger side repair?
As importantly I am looking for a good set of instructions on how to gain access to the heater blend door motor in order to take care of the replacement myself. My understanding is it is a $40 part buy may be heavy on services due to access. My 2013 is stocked with the sync touch screen / navigation option .....
I know I've complained about oil consumption before on my 12' 5.0 with 42 K. I've kinda come to terms with it and figure not much I can do ? Next oil change I want to try to improve it. Checked it the other day and has used approx 3/4 of quart in 2200 K. I've read other guys post talking about improving consumption by switching brands and trying different viscosity. I'm using the recommended Ford 5/20 synthetic now.
View 8 RepliesI drove to work in the snow with the truck in 4x4 High for 31 highway miles. I averaged between 30 - 50 mph depending upon traffic. I was impressed to get 17.3 mpg in 4x4 high in the snow. My old 2002 Dodge Ram Cummins got about 10 mpg in 4x4 high.
View 14 RepliesFor the last week or so I noticed that my a/c wasnt working on the "1" setting, but the 2,3 and 4 settings worked fine. Last night leaving work, the blower was on the "3" setting and the blower suddenly just stopped blowing. I have cold air in max a/c mode only on 4, if I take it off of max a/c and just use the vents it will work intermittently on the 2 and 3 setting but never works on 1.
I know the 04-08 trucks had resister problems that would cause like symptoms, but I read somewhere that the entire system is different on these trucks. The truck has 4200 miles on it, so when I get off of work Wed off to the dealer it goes, I am just wondering what the problem might be for speculation purposes.
I recently purchased a used 2014 F150 XLT, it has 18k miles. I found that when I turn the AC or heat fan is on high there is a loud whistling noise. However, I discovered that when the recirculate function is on the whistling stops. I took the truck to a Ford dealer since it's under warranty and they have replaced the blower motor twice but that hasn't fixed it. The air intake to the vent system might be obstructed, that would explain why it doesn't whistle when recirculate is on. Where the intake for the vent is?
View 2 RepliesSo, I get back from vacay and find my baby has a new issue.... the "battery" light came on just after I started it up after my 10 days away.
I can drive it seemingly ok, it did do some cool flashing and lost display and radio on one trip but now it seems not as bad.
I did a volt meter chack on the batt terminals and have 12.3 or 12.4 with key off and 14.9 with engine running. I turned on the headlights and rear defroster and get 14.6V on the terminals. 21.6A running to the main fuse block right by the rad,
2011 FX2, 81,000 miles, with dual control A/C. The blower motor works fine on speeds 1-5. Put it on speed 6 or 7 and the motor trips after about 5 seconds. Turn it back below 6 or 7 and it starts working fine. I have replaced the resistor and the blower with the same results.
I have read through a good deal of the posts and most seem to deal with the resistor and the lower speeds not working. It's like its tripping a breaker or overload.
my high beam switch works if I hold the switch in the forward position, but it won't stay on when I let go. Is there a fix without having to replace the switch?
View 4 RepliesJust got my 2014 SCREW 6.5bed with eco boost. Truck has a high frequency vibration very noticeable at 45-55 MPH. So bad the rear view mirror is blurry. Took it to the dealer and they said the e-brake was dragging and fixed that and said the vibration was gone. Not gone. Did some searches and found a number people reporting vibration issues possibly related to drive shaft issues.
Took this video of the slip yoke at the T-case idling in first gear, sent it to the dealer and they said that's normal. I don't think that looks normal. Does that looks normal?
