I have a question/clarification about factory-installed alarms. My window sticker indicates a perimeter alarm and securilock pass anti-theft. Additionally, the dealer wanted me to pay for an additional alarm. (I think), which I told him to include in the deal. The question is, what do these alarms specifically do?

View 14 Replies2014 fx4 full load, purchased new in sept 2014, having with the range/distance with the remote starter? Most times I have to be within 20/30 yards to activate it and if im inside my home or any building its useless and rarely activates it regardless of the distance. My point is a remote start is made to start your vehicle from a reasonable distance without having to step outside to activate it.

View 1 RepliesI pulled out my Pioneer stereo from my 2004 before trading it in for the new 2012. From all my research and all, it should hook right up but I cannot get a switchable power supply at the harness. I can find one in the harness for the heater but do not want to cut into that one. What have you other Truckers done? Here is the wire harness I am working with. The Red is supposed to go the switchable power, yellow to constant and black to ground. The red from the stereo to the harness wire will NOT power the unit. I can get the stereo working if I put the red wire to the constant (yellow) but then the stereo will not turn off.

I bought the bed extender off my uncles '05 lariat and I got the pivot bolts, but I went to put the bolts on my truck and the middle hole isn't threaded. It has like a metal bushing in there, do I need to tap the hole or what? Also what is the bottom hole for?

View 4 RepliesWho has installed 3" blocks in the rear. I've been working out of town for a few months and have scraped up a little extra money. With that said, I would like to add a leveling kit and rear blocks to my truck when I get home. I'm aware that adding blocks will increase axle wrap when accelerating hard, but I rarely tow and really don't beat on my truck that often.
View 14 RepliesI just installed a wet of weather tech (in channel) window rain deflectors/guards. the rear window deflector came with adhesive strips but not the fronts. Installation instructions say to leave windows up for 48 hours... My question about them is what is actually keeping the front deflectors in and seated? I've used the seating tool but dont understand how they can stay in the channel locked in when there's clearance on them.
View 6 RepliesInstalled the Rough Country winch mount yesterday. One hour, by myself. Used a floor jack to lift it in place.
Only problem was removing the plastic molding which came in the spot the fairlead will be. Just a small rectangular plastic molding with a couple of bars down the middle for looks. It had two screws on top edge, and two pushpins on bottom , but also was molded with two catches on each side on the back I did not see. When I figured it out, and squeezed with just my fingers, little too hard and snapped one catch on each side. They slide into a slot and catch but wont be doing that ever again. Oh well.
As for mount, solid and easy to install. I used hand tools as the air gun would only hit one of the bolts for the front tow hooks. The other was blocked by plastic molding. No big deal.

I had been waiting a long time for a remote start solution to be available for my 2014 IS-250 with navigation. I finally saw idatalink released a firmware for their ADS-ALCA bypass module that allows you to add a remote start that is triggered by the factory keypad. It was a fairly easy installation and it started up right away. I do have car installation experience, but I didnt find the installation to be that difficult in general.
View 14 RepliesI bought a n 09 f350 lariat a couple weeks ago, I was in such a hurry to get out of the dealer before the CEL in my GMC came back on in my trade in I never paid attention to the stereo, previous owner stuck in a stock am/fm radio which wouldn t even work, This dealer was a couple hundred miles away (I had to drive to get a v10)so they sent me the proper nav radio for my truck, had it installed (since they were paying) everything works, XM,radio,navigation but no backup camera, what should I look for? maybe the stereo guy didn't plug it in? is there a seperate plug or a way to turn it on?

What direction does this do? Left to right or up and down. And which way would be to lower the lens if it is up and down.
After about one year on driving (about 25000 km) my factory blades began painting rainbows on the windshield. These original Denso-made wipers were really good, survived almost two full winter seasons. I replaced them with the highly regarded PIAA silicone blades - the Aero Vogue hybrid ones. Will see how long they will last.
The upper blade is PIAA, the lower is factory installed Denso one.
The 2011+ corollas have an option to have a usb/line in jack for the radio which is by the time clock. I have a 2010 corolla with just the line in jack aux input. Can I get the usb/line in jack part from the 2011 corolla and hook it up the wire that was originally connected to the line in jack connector? Or do I need part PT233-47100?
View 6 RepliesI have an 09 Camry LE. When driving, the volume is consistent until I begin braking. It then lowers the volume itself. When I accelerate, it ramps back up.
Also on the highway, the bass is excessive. I usually turn it down to -1 or -2 depending on the track. The car is completely stock. I've had the car for a few weeks now.
This is the only factor that may lead to me replacing the stock radio. I don't want too, but if this problem can be solved by that, than I will.
My front driver's side Bridgestone Turanza EL400 (225/40R18) has premature wear such that the steel belt is beginning to show through the center of the tread. The front passenger side tire has no such wear and the alignment is good.
View 14 RepliesWe have the basic stock CD / radio model number A518A1 and the XM Radio module with the fit kit installed in the passenger side wheel well in the trunk in a 2010 Corolla S.
Installation of the XM Radio & fit kit was dead simple and we're using the built-in OEM antenna on the roof of the car.
The problem we're having is the dreaded NO SIGNAL message when trying to listen to XM Radio.
I have the Lynx portable XM Radio installed in my car and when both cars are in the driveway, I can get the signal all day long and in her car she gets the NO SIGNAL message.
We've already called XM Radio and had the signal resent to the radio numerous times with no success.
I've gone to our Toyota dealer and the only thing they can recommend is to replace the OEM roof antenna. That part alone is $80 and you have to completely disassemble the headliner to get at the antenna.
Wiring up an actual XM antenna to take the place of the OEM roof antenna? I've searched the web and can't find an adapter plug.
I am wanting to upgrade from my factory exhaust to a catback system. But, it seems like every system I find is borla. I have heard of and seen videos of guys putting 9th gen magnaflow kits on the 10th gen. I love the magnaflow sound but not sure how accurate the info I have found is. 2009 corolla S auto trans
