So I think I've seen the first issue out of my truck this morning. On the way into work I couldn't get the cruise control to function. This is a big deal to me, after a back surgery a few years ago it gets painful really quickly when I have to ride the gas pedal for more than a few minutes. Four hours later my back and leg are still bothering the heck out of me.

I have a 2005 Excursion Limited v10 with inoperable cruise control that I bought 2 years ago. Since I don't use the truck much, I'm just starting to track down the issue. I've read a lot of the threads here, and done the cruise control system test, and come out with a failed switch. The 2005 is NOT part of the master cylinder pressure switch recall.
However, in digging around, I have no wiring harness attached to the master cylinder pressure switch. I also don't have any loose wiring harnesses or obvious signs of any wiring just being cut off. Talking about wiring, where to look, where it should be connected or what I might need to purchase? No wiring harness..
My 2007 Santa developed these symptoms recently and need to know if they are related or independent.
1) ESC off message is always lit and button doesn't work.
I checked and replaced fuse 19 in engine bay. Light didn't lit up for next 500 feet and I was able to turn and off with ESC button near knee panel. after that it was back on. My guess is one of 2 Or both 40amp relays in engine bay for ESC is/are bad.
2) Cruise control on/off works but Set doesn't and Cruise is inoperable.
Don't see any fuses for cruise control in engine bay or interior fuse panel.
Just bought f150 Super cab and want to tow a 28' Heartland travel trailer ultra-lite. (5290lbs unloaded). We have always used cruise control. What are your thoughts about tow haul? Should we always use tow haul when towing? Should we use it only on hills? Can we use cruise control at the same time as we are using tow haul?
View 11 RepliesThis morning (roughly freezing temperature - nothing out of the ordinary after the brutal winter we just had) got onto the highway to head to work and set the cruise control (as normal) at approx 110km/h (65mph) and after several seconds heard a distinct, quite unpleasant grinding noise. It was loud enough to be heard over the heater and radio. Turned the heater and radio off to listen closer and didn't like the sound of it - sounded like metal on metal.
There was no different feel in the floor, pedals or steering wheel. As soon as I turned cruise control off, the noise disappeared! Turned cruise control back on, and the noise returned approx 5 seconds later. If I continued driving along normally and sustained a certain speed, the noise would appear after 5 seconds again and only go away once I lifted off the gas or coasted down a hill... Very bizarre. Once I got to work and poked my head underneath didn't immediately notice anything out of the ordinary - no funny smells or anything...
Background info: 2011 FX4 ecoboost, crew cab. Stock, no modifications. Approx 134,000km (~80,000 miles)...
I'm at my wit's end trying to install cruise control in my 2009 Corolla. I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
View 9 RepliesThe Cruise Control on my truck works intermittently. Sometimes it cuts out when I am driving and sometimes it fails to work at all (usually in the morning). Sometimes it will re engage if it cuts out and sometimes it will not re engage for hours.
View 1 RepliesAbout 1x month, I get into the Prius C and want to start heat/ac. None of the buttons operate and if I press the "auto" button it will light up but not stay engaged. Overall, not a big deal. After a shift into drive and a few minutes of driving the system usually starts working. If I don't want to wait, I find that turning the Prius C off and on again usually resolves the issue. I am not concerned now, but wondering if issue may escalate as car ages.
View 19 RepliesOn my 2009 F350 the cruise control won't stay on. The slightest bump and it turns off and I have to push the resume button. It's not the brake pedal/stop light as it will do it with me holding the pedal up. I'm guessing there is a vibration/crash sensor to turn off the cruise control in case of a wreck.

When in cruise control the truck will vary RPM and seem to 'hunt'. For example: if 50mph = 1500rpm the truck will go down the road varying between 1300 and 1700 rpm continuously. Could the truck be in need of a tuner because of the parts?.
Maybe related: When first started in the morning if I pull out of the driveway and hold steady throttle to accelerate, the truck will do this as well, just surges.
For about 6 months the cruise control on our '09 F-250 has been intermittently failing. One time I'll set it and it will work fine, the next time I try to set it and it fails. No particular rhyme or reason to when it fails to set.
Some of the tests that I did indicated it was the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. It seemed to work perfectly a few times that I drove it after the installation but now it's back to working when it wants to.
I had a problem with the cruise on our '06 Ranger and it turned out to be the module. It acted a bit the same way in that it would set sometimes, other time not. I don't know if the two systems are similar or not.
My 2009 F350 cruise control has never worked since I bought it used and I'm trying to get it fixed without a trip to the dealer but to no avail unfortunately. I have replaced the cruise control switch on the master cylinder and I checked every fuse connected to the brake system and the brake switch works as far as I can tell. I also tried the diagnostic check where you turn the truck on while holding the off button on the cruise control but the cruise light never flashes. I also thought maybe it was the clock spring or the connection in the steering column being loose but the clock spring makes no noise and the horn and airbag all checkout so I'm at a loss.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2009 Mercury Milan. Ever since I have had the car I have had a problem with the cruise control suddenly turning off. It is erratic and will happen usually once on a two hour trip on the highway day or night. And it completely turns off - no RESUME. It never puts up any codes that the dealer can see. The dealer will not do anything because they cannot duplicate the problem. They tried once on a short 5 mile drive but they would have to take it on the highway and drive it for at least one half hour to an hour. They said there were no similar problems reported through Mercury. They initially suggested that perhaps I was accidentally hitting the brake pedal but I have been acutely aware of where my feet are when it happens and it is not me. And anyway this would not explain the fact that it turns off completely. My warranty is going to run out in several months and I would like to get this fixed before it does.
View 8 RepliesMy wife has a 2009 Camry LE, 4cyl with approximately 63,000 miles on it. Yesterday when driving it, I went to turn the cruise control off and my finger slipped, causing the button to pop out. Both of us have tried to fix it and I know I tried at least three or four different ways to reinstall the little three prong copper piece and no luck. The cruise control still refuses to work.
Having problem with the button popping out and been able to fix it? If so, how did you fix it? I hope it's something simple, such as re-installing the copper piece a certain way.
I own Sta Fe 2014 DM CRDi 2.2L diesel engine automatic transmission. Recently I am encountering a problem on my unit, firstly the ABS, ESC, and Hill descent alarm indicator shows on my dash brought it to Hyundai and they replace wheel hub assembly on the rear right wheel. after a week it goes lit again but doesn't stays long it disappear right now it happens from time to time only. Secondly my cruise control wont engage the light stays on but could not keep the speed, Ive check the brake lights they are not busted. The service technician doesn't now what to do and no error code showing on the computer. Last is during start up transmission on neutral or park position the speedometer fluctuates then warning light on ABS, ESC appears.
View 6 RepliesSo yesterday we had a bit of snow north of the city. I was driving on the highway and suddenly my cruise control deactivated and I got a message to clean the radar. Then I had PCM flash every second or so. I was really frustrated because this is a MINIMAL amount of snow and it's not even below zero. I'm hoping that this isn't an ongoing issue with these cars? Any solution besides getting out of the car and cleaning it? When I got home I saw that there was a layer of ice on the Lexus logo on the front of the car.....

No nothing. All of a sudden. I read about the relays, fuses, however didn't make much of it - overlooked perhaps....

It stops working until some random time down the road when I can finally reset. The tach will jump from 2 to 3 and seems to feel like it is shifting gears. The dealer reads no codes. How do I get this fixed. I drive interstate all week 50+ miles everyday and it is annoying.
View 19 RepliesI installed an aftermarket cruise (Rostra) in my manual 2007 Corolla. Other than cutting the hole for the stalk the only real difficulty was getting my fat hands up under the dash to install the clutch disconnect switch. It certainly didn't involve any wire cutting or messing around with the ECM.
It's a long story, but through a sequence of events I have to opportunity to buy a 2010 base Corolla 5 speed at a pretty good deal. It also doesn't have a cruise control. I went tot eh Rostra website just to make sure cruise units are available and I looked at the installation instructions. Unless I read the wrong sheet, their instructions make it seem like installing cruise on a 2010 involves messing with the ECM wiring harness, moving connectors and a bunch of scary stuff like that.
It seems strange to me that the older car would be "plug and play" but a newer one would need changes to the main wiring harnesses. I'm not talking about a steering wheel mounted system where the clock spring has to be replaced, just a basic cruise.
I never noticed since I purchased my new truck about a month ago that my traction control has been on since I bought it in just curious if it suppose to be turned of or can I leave it like this I don't want to hurt anything mechanically by leaving it on I never new with the light being on means it's off one day on accident I hit it by mistake and it said off but in all honestly have I did any damage with it being on and fringing it all the time keeping it on hurt the engine rear end or tranny at all.....
