Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Bedliner Versus Bed Rug?
Jul 11, 2011
Recently I posted a question asking which was the best bedliner to go with for my 2011 F-150. But now I've also started considering a bed rug. I won't to often haul things with this truck...And even when I do it'll most likely just be something like furnature, Nothing dirty, grimey or messey.
But what do ya'll think would be the better way to go? The LineX Xtra looks promising. But I think it might be overkill for my application.
Also when applying a bedliner what all is involved in the process? Do they scrape all the paint from you're bed and then spray it down? Or do they just spray over the paint?

On my 2013 Platinum the passenger's seat seems weak on the cooling versus the drivers. It still works on the passenger's side just not very cool. Is the AC cooling just a fan pushing air through the small holes in the leather seats?

I have a factory plastic bedliner in my 05 F150 with the 8ft bed. The tie downs in the front of the bed have a small gap that allows water to leak under the bedliner. I have tried using silicone caulk around the seam but the flexing of the liner makes it come unglued.
How to keep the water from getting under? The water that makes its way through the seam drains out of the factory holes in the front of the bed but I still worry about the moisture under there causing rust.

I cannot get a rear wheel drive 350F sport in the northeast unless I order one and wait 3 months + for delivery. I never drive in snow or ice. I can get an AWD. I don't want the extra cost, weight and complexity of AWD. However I would consider it if the fun and handling factor was not much worse then the RWD.

I kept a record of every drop of fuel used in my 2008 Gen II Prius. It was easy with only two simple screens: Energy and Consumption. After writing down the numbers I reset the Consumption screen at every fill up. I entered these into a spreadsheet that did a bunch of calculations telling me all kinds of interesting things.
Now to my new 2014 Prius v Two. I'm confused regarding all the new information available. (A good thing) Which screen and number am I looking for that is equivalent to the Miles and cumulative MPG on the old Gen II?
Would like to sort this out before my first fill on the new car.

In February I purchased a 2011 Subaru Impreza, 4 door sport with 26k miles, for 16,999.
Now 3 months later I have pilled on over 10k miles due to work, and constantly feel cramped with no space because I load so much into my car for my job (promotions and sales).
Recently, I have come across a 2014 Jeep Patriot sport with 15k miles for 19,600. The car seems to be in good condition inside and out.
Now I know nothing about Jeeps or cars as a whole really. But I do know that aside from size I love my Subaru.
Looking for opinions about switching from the 2011 Subaru Impreza to a 2014 Jeep Patriot?
Key features:
-I drive a ton
-Car is always loaded with stuff
-Fuel economy isn't a huge concern
-Subaru has over 36k miles
-Jeep has 15k miles
-In three months I have put over 10k on due to work
Stay with the Subaru or move to the jeep?

I'm trying to decide which vehicle will be the better buy. I'm looking at a 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L and a 2009 or 2010 Mazda CX-9. I need lots of storage space for hockey bags and the occasional 3rd row. Drove both but can't decide which is the better buy.

Well Prii have always been a little "loud" under acceleration due to the CVT and small engine and minimal sound proofing, BUT We have 2 Priuses (Prii??), a 2011 with 41000 miles and a 2014 with 7k miles. My daughter got the 2011 to take to college. 1200 mile round trip so it made sense.
She maintains that for sometime, the 2011 is making more of the droning/roaring sound that a Prius makes when accelerating briskly. I did not really believe, her, but over holiday break, I had the opportunity to drive both cars more, and she is right.
The 2011 is clearly louder under acceleration. It also will develop a bit of a vibration at certain RPMs, even at very low RPM sometimes, when the economy bar is just beyond the electric mode.
The noise differential between 2011 and 2014 is most apparent at cold temperatures, but it does not resolve completely even with both engines fully warmed up.

I'm sorting through ECM and CEL issues on a 2006 Corolla. Are these issues still for the 10th Generation? I've driven 1982, 1992, 1996 and 2006 Toyotas w/ no trouble until this one (the 92 was lost in a 20-inch rainstorm in 1995).

Started a while back and comes and goes. Only commonality I have found is the truck needs to be warmed up for it to happen and usually after a few hours of driving. The downshift from 5th or 6th into fourth, at times, produces anywhere from a light to violent clunk, feels like a typical tranny slip. It will do it while in cruise and it will do it if I don't have the cruise on. Can't figure out if it is going to be a tune issue or hardware.
It does it only downshifting into 4th from 5th or 6th, no other downshifting is a problem and usually the 6th to 4th produces the worst results. At highway speeds that is usually a shift from around 2Krpm to just over 3K rpm (6th to 4th) if it is from 5th it is about 2500 to 3K. Start from a stop and go WOT and there are no issues.
Having it in Tow/Haul or not makes no difference as far as I can tell. IT can do it on one hill and the next time be just fine or do it 2-3 hills in a row. After this last trip it will do it at 9K feet or at 60 feet elevation, didn't make a difference there either.
Another issue that may be hurting the computer is the truck originally came with the 235 tires, it now has 285's and the rear is only 3.31. I plan on going with 265's and maybe still a gear change to 3.73's in the future. I usually only notice this on long trips, first was a 1500mile hauling an ATV, second was last week during a 2500 mile empty. Although I have had it do it a few times locally. I figure those bigger tires can't be good especially with that high of a rear for the management system.

I bought a "rebuilt" 2wd AOD off craigslist for my bronco 2wd conversion that ended up needing re rebuilt due to wrong parts installed, since it was a bearing issue and worried about metal shavings I did not reuse the 2wd torque convertor and used the one from the 4x4 trans since I knew it worked. Are there any differences in a 2wd vs 4x4 convertors like stall speed to keep the motor running a little higher for off road performance.

I'm going to be installing a 4" lift on my truck and was wondering what the pros and cons are using springs or blocks. I have the option of going with either the pro comp 22210/22415 springs or 22210 with a 5" block. With the block I'd be saving around $200 but I guess my main concern is ride quality. Dont know if the stock rear springs have issues like the front do. I'm probably going to go all spring but it would be nice to save a few bucks.

the options i am looking at are either a 2008-10 Diesel 250 or 2011' Diesel 250. It will be a weekend only truck and only towing light loads every once in a while.
My question is which motor is better? the 6.4 or 6.7?
I don't have a clue which is better, but all of my friends debated about this at my house this weekend for a few hours, so i am just looking for some info i guess.

I currently own another brand of a one ton, SRW, diesel pick up. Use the truck to tow a 35' 5th wheel. I'm considering a new truck this spring, & it WILL be a brand change. I was looking at the tow ratings in the March towing guide in Trailer Life mag. & the 5th wheel ratings for a F- 250, & F-350 Super cab, SRW, long box Diesel are the same, 15,900lbs, with a 3:31, or a 3:55 rear. So the question is what is the difference between the 250, & 350?

How important would it be for me to upgrade to a f350. Currently own a lariat f250 4x4 crew cab. Recently sold a 5th wheel (2000 pin weight) that put me over weight. I just listened to the sales person. Recently purchased a 28' arctic fox 26x with 1000lb tounge weight. Gvw of trAiler is 10400, dry weight 7450. We pack light much lighter than the 5th wheel. Three bikes, three kayaks along with wood in the back. I have a equalizer weight distribution hitch along with airbAgs. I'm looking to replace with a 2014 or possibly a 2015. I would prefer to stay with a 250. What do you think? 2014 have great deals right now. I'm don't think the extra torque/hp would n a big deal.

What are the main differences between the F-350 and the F-450?
I see now that you can get the wide track front axle on the F-350 as well.

So, currently I have a 2006 6.0 that's been bulletproofed with a 4.5" lift, 35" tires, and a few other things. I've debated going to an Ecoboost F-150, but I really don't want to give up the payload and towing capacity of the F-250.
The big gripe I have about my F-250 is dealing with diesel issues in the winter and the stiff ride and wouldn't mind a little quieter engine. Besides that I love the big truck. My question is if the 6.4 or 6.7 trucks are better about not gelling and not starting in the winter compared to the 6.0? I've read that the ride quality on the 6.4 and the 6.7 is much better than the 6.0 truck.
I've actually debated just getting a dually F-350 and getting another car to drive when I don't need the truck. I'd never have to worry about too heavy or big of a load and then wouldn't have to worry about driving a big truck into tight places either.

So I've been planning a trip to Phoenix, AZ and have been trying to figure out whether renting a little car with good gas mileage would be more ideal than driving my truck. So, I started doing the math with local gas prices and the MPG specs for my truck and it completely conflicts with what my instrument panel says how much miles I get from a full tank of gas.
My instrument panel shows I get roughly 350 miles for a full tank of gas (26g tank). This is well below my 15/21...

I am on the market for a 2015 Ford F350 with an 11' Royal utility body on the back for my electrical contracting business.
Ford have come back to me and said I need a F450 as I am going with the supercab, the F350 can not handle the 11' utility body.
I have head that the F450 can cost more in Insurance and use more diesel. I contacted my insurance company and they said it wouldn't change to much, this is in CA.
Is there any differences between the F350 and F450 apart from the rear axle and larger brakes. Also if there a major difference in MPG.
I currently have a Ford F150 Limited and love it!

I own a 08 F350 which has 4:10 gears. After this last trip to AZ pulling 5th wheel and only getting 7 - 8.5 mpg driving 65 most of the trip, I'm seriously considering a new F350. Switch from 2008 to 2012 with about the same truck? I'm thinking of going back to 3:73 which I know works a bit. But if someone did switch what was your mileage difference. I have been also tossing idea of replacing my 4:10 with 3:73 to improve mileage. My 08 only has 24k on the clock.
