Yesterday had a issue with my new truck, (less than 2500 miles), pulled up to a stop sign and the low oil pressure warning light came on and truck just died and wouldn't start back up, checked oil and put some in and it still wouldn't start, called Ford roadside asst. and right before they showed up it started. Still had it towed to dealership and they're still looking at!!! It's got the 5.0

Put it in drive and the check advance track light came on, 2 minutes later the oil pressure dropped to zero and truck quit at the same time. Checked oil and it was good, repeated same process 3 times. I just let it idle for ten minutes then it was fine.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2013 5.0 and every time I change the oil filter the oil runs out the front and back of the cross member. That welded on oil catch plate doesn't work. The suspension is stock and I'm wondering if I lift the rear of the truck with a floor jack will it get the oil from the filter all run out the front of that catch plate?
View 9 RepliesI have notice maybe a dozen times in the last few weeks that my 2013 5.0 Screw downshifts at odd times. It usually occurs while coasting around 35-40 mph (in 4th gear and downshifts to 2nd gear) or around 50 mph (in 5th gear and downshifts to 3rd gear). Obviously when this occurs, the rpms jump and when I get into the gas, the truck takes a few seconds to accelerate because it first must shift into the next higher gear. What is causing this?
View 2 RepliesWe have a 2009 F150 XLT 4.6 3V. Starts fine for several days then all of the sudden it won't crank. It turns over normally but will not start. Then after 10 - 15 minutes of trying it starts. Does fine for a day or two then it happens again. It is not throwing any codes. We have replaced the spark plugs, crank shaft sensor, and checked all the fuses.
View 1 RepliesAt what point does it go off? Mine went off tonight, after about 15 miles on the road, the ambient temp is 60 degrees cooler than when the tires last got air (it was 40 degrees on the drive home).
None of the tires look low. If it had been on at the start, I could understand due to the cooler air, but it was after a few miles and the tires had warmed up some I am sure. (Two miles later when I stopped at my house, the tires felt warm to the touch, at least, noticeably warmer than ambient air.
My '10 f150 sometimes will not start. If I leave it overnight or just a couple of hours it starts just fine. The Starter engages, the battery tests fine. There is no audible hum of the fuel pump just before you try to start it. This happens about once a month. Once after a drive up the canyon, once after a 15 drive around town, and once on a 25 mile drive to my parents home.
I have heard that the type of fuel filler cap does not let the fuel tank vent as fuel is used and it creates a type of back pressure that causes the fuel pump to be overloaded and not operate. Also, there is zero drop in performance between these issues.
I just bought a 2011 F-150 with the 6.2 liter engine; only has 80k on it. After going for a ride today and stepping on it a couple times the oil pressure gauge went down to zero and the light came on. I shut it off and restarted and it was normal again but came on a few seconds later. I repeated the process a couple times and now its seems fine again.

If you park on a 20% or steeper incline and the tank is less than about 1/8th full - the truck won't start. It has the 36 gallon tank - and the fuel pickup is located in the center.
The service rep told me that they have the same problem with the showroom trucks when they park them on a grass hill in front of the dealership. They have to roll them down onto the street to start them if the gas tank is too low...
Boy, I tell ya, there's no disclaimer sticker telling me to not let the gas get too low if you live in an area with lots of hills. I don't think I would have bought it if I had know this. The service guy described another owner of an F250 having the same problem...
I have a 2013 F150 XLT 4X4 with the 5.0. It has 53k miles on it and I purchased it new. A few days ago I tried staring my truck, and on the 5th attempt it finally started. Well I went and replaced the battery because it tested weak. It happened again this morning and it didn't start. I had to have it towed to a mechanic. It turns over strong so I'm thinking it may be a fuel problem. It's not a security issue regarding the smart key. I tried my wife's key and still It didn't start.
View 14 RepliesI've only had my '13 STX with the 5.0 for a little over a month now, but it seems like the past few days, something's caught my attention. As soon as I start my truck when cold, the idling engine seems to have more vibration than normal, which is to say I can notice a distinct vibration in the cab. It only does this for about 10-15 seconds, and then the vibration goes away when it idles down. The truck still runs and drives fine, and I only notice this when I start the truck without it already being warmed up. I don't recall noticing this the first few weeks I owned the truck, but I also wonder if I'm over-analyzing matters as well.

First, my truck has an Ecoboost and I have a slight stumble/hesitation when you start the truck cold. It clears up within 10 seconds and doesn't seem to affect drivability whatsoever.
Second, it seems that only my driver side mirror has the "dimming feature" to it. Is this normal?
2009 f150 5.4l. 36 gal. After fueling it takes 4 or 5 cranks to start engine. Doesn't matter if its partial or complete fill up. after start has a little black smoke and and rough idle for a few seconds. Then runs fine with plenty of power.
View 3 Replies2012 F150 6.2L V8... I am at a loss and I know that loud knocking is not a good sign. Two days ago my truck's low oil pressure light started coming on and off, so I pulled over and immediately turned my truck off. I called a friend at a Ford dealership and he asked a mechanic what I should do. He said it could be something as simple as low oil, bad oil sending unit or maybe something serious. So, he said check my oil level if low top it off and see if that fixes the problem. It was low and I topped it off, but the light kept doing the same thing.
Here's my dilemma; my truck wasn't making ANY noises (knocking, whining, etc...), 2 days later which was yesterday I was en route to get new oil/oil filter changed and 24 miles later I'm in a turning Lane and it dies! Will not start, but it tried, so I did not try anymore. I was able to get it into a parking lot and left it for about 4 hours and went to check on it and it started right up and that is when the knocking noise started. I turned it off and checked the oil and the level reads full...
I bought a 2013 f150 last Saturday. It had battery corrosion on the positive side of the battery and on the battery cable end. The dealer agreed to replace the battery and the cable end which they did. Every thing was fine until today when the battery light came on. It stayed on for a few min and then went off. I had the battery and alternator checked at the local parts store. They checked out good. Why a light if everything checks out good?
View 6 RepliesAfter about 5 miles from my normal place to purchase fuel, My truck bagan to run bad and the check engine light kicked on. Mileage dropped to about 8 MPG. This morning, the truck would not start and after 2 can's of dry gas, I was able to start it (barely).
I stopped at the place where I purchased fuel and at least they admitted that they has to shut down yesterday, stating they received a bad batch of fuel from their source.
Now the fun begins...How do I get the "bad gas" out of my truck?. I now have about 1/4th of a tank. I tried to run a line to siphon the gas and I can not get a line far enough into the tank.
2013 ecoboost bought new. Every winter 3-5 times, typically when temps get low( Kansas City), and truck left outside without starting for 12+ hours. I will get to my truck and it won't even unlock with key fob. Put cables to it and within seconds the alarm is beeping and I move directly to ignition and it fires right up. Had battery tested just this week and again nothing is wrong with it. Has not been to dealship, cuz I just kept telling myself I must of been leaving something inside the truck on and that's why it won't start. But I am beyond that now and with how fast everything starts once I get cables on it, I feel the battery is not getting drained. So it has done it speractically for 4 winters, maybe once during summer months and just everything is dead when i get to truck. No lights no entry no dash.

Am I doing something wrong, leaving a door not shut all the way etc.... Are there any parimiters where it won't remote start and just "beep" the horn?
I have a 2013 F150 STX with an air bag light that comes on randomly, I have had the truck in 3 times so far to get it checked out and they keep replacing a sensor in the driver door. Part number BL3Z 14B345A. The sensor has been replaced twice so far and the light still comes on randomly. I took the truck in again on 11/17/2015 and was told to bring it back when the light is on and stays on. I think we all know that if the light comes on and I do manage to get it to the service department during business hours that I will not be rushed to the front of the line and they will park the truck turn off the ignition and the light will go out.
The truck also has a couple of other little glitches. Every once in awhile at start up the radio will just pop or crackle through the speakers this will last for about 2 blocks then the radio works fine after that. The speakers will also cut out randomly while sitting at a stop light. I guess since Ford don't know how to fix there trucks. The truck is still under warranty but it is getting close to the mileage cutoff.
