My 2013 Lariat has just over 7,000 miles on it now. If you brake lightly at 55-60 you get a brake shutter, enough to feel it in the seat but also can see the steering wheel shake too. if you brake a little harder you don't feel the shudder much. is it possible to warp rotors in 7000 miles? 3500 of that 7000 was put on driving to Texas and back.
View 14 RepliesMy neighbor has a 2010 or 2011 Screw with only less than 10K miles. He complains that the steering wheel vibrates when he applies the brakes; not all of the time, but most of the time. Could it be pads/rotors? With this mileage, and no stop and go traffic, I cannot believe it would be the pads/rotors.........
View 6 RepliesMy '11 has almost 60,000 miles on it and I've turned the front rotors down once already for a vibration at 42,000 miles. Front pads looked good at that time, but I'm pretty sure the brakes are otherwise all original (2nd owner). Not feeling it in the pedal but starting to get a steering wheel vibration when I touch the brakes above 60mph and I figure they will be getting due sooner than later- though I still have not pulled the rears down to check them.
Whats the consensus on replacement brake parts? Is OEM the way to go? I figure any decent ceramic pad set should be fine but what about rotors, OEM, raybestos, wearever, etc? I know everybody wants USA made but realistically price is a major factor. I can get Raybestos advanced rotors and pro pads shipped from rockauto for slightly more than wearever pads and rotors from advanced- is it worth it? Or are the OEM rotors notably more durable?
Keep in mind this truck sees light to empty loading 99.5% of the time and the stock front rotors needed turned at 42,000 and are starting to show signs again at under 60,000.
My son has a 2013 Fx4 crew cab 4X4 ecoboost with 8500 miles. He says in the morning for the first couple of miles while accelerating gradually the trucks shudders when shifting gears. After a few miles it goes away. Dealer says they can't do anything endless he can duplicate the condition. He went out of town for a few days and left me the truck so I'll drive it in the morning and see what it does.
View 3 RepliesI hooked up the boat and went out for a tow. I ended up getting a pretty good vibration and thought maybe it was time for balancing the trailer tires. As it turns out I needed two new tires as they were at the wear bars (cheap crappy bias ply tires) so I ended up buying 4 trailer tire radials and had them balanced.
As it turns out I have what I guess is a shudder at slow speeds and also can feel it at other speeds as well. A way to explain it is that it sort of feels like you are driving over the rumble strips on the side of the road but really small ones.
When i put on the brakes the steering wheel shakes and pulsates. Iam getting mixed info. One person I know said it is the brakes (front), another person said i need the alignment checked. yet another said Rotors, and still another said back brakes.... When i touch the brakes the whole van pulsates and the steering wheel shakes.
View 3 Replies2013 Nissan Sentra, 2.0L 62,000 miles. Sometimes when I apply the brakes, the steering wheel shakes. It usually happens on the highway when slowing down from speeds above 40mph. I thought that it might be the rotors, but it doesn't happen all the time. The severity of the shaking also differs from time to time.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 F150 with 80,000km+ Original front brakes. When I am driving around and hit any bumps, I can hear a rattle. A slight pedal will make the noise go away.
The pads still have lots of life in them, so besides replacing them, what can I do? Or, is it actually something else? I have a 100,000km warrentee.
I've been noticing my steering wheel shakes if i normally brake going on the highway at high speed. My friend said that it's probably your brakes and rotors. Get them replaced and resurface and that should fix the problem. Can i get some confirmation before i do this?
1. I just had my tires replace at 55k and bought this car new back in feb 09. it has 62k.
2. also i've been reading up on camries fail water pump. i'm thinking of doing this over the weekend or should i just wait until i notice some leaks?
3. lastly, any major thing i need to be aware of. i've done the normal engine oil and filter change, cabin and engine air filter change, that's about it. i hope these camries are bullet proof like the old school (92-95).
2013 Platinum. See sig for details. 37,000 miles. 1 owner. Truck has been basically parked since June. However I take it out for a quick spin every 3 week for 10 miles or so. Currently has storage insurance on it.
When backing out of the garage the brakes are grinding and squealing bad. Also getting feedback through the steering wheel for the first couple miles which leads me to believe it's one or both the front brakes.
2014 crewcab lariat 4x4. Here is the question. This is only when I'm backing
it up and only after putting truck back in drive do I get the steering wheel whine. It sounds as if it is low on fluid. Only last for a seconds or two. Could this be the start of a steering problem or possibly a brake issue? Just throwing this out there.
I just went to Steamboat this weekend which requires driving over two mountain passes in a snow storm...I only go if it is snowing. This was the first trip with my new 2013 FX4 and the front wheel wells filled up with so much ice that the wheels would rub after a bump in the road. The mountain roads do have lots of frost heaves so this would happen fairly often. The ice was all around the wheel well with a huge build up behind the wheel. It also covered the step rails. Would mud flaps do anything to preovent this build up? Or any other tricks?. Otherwise the truck did fine...
View 12 RepliesHave noticed lately 2012 4x4 sc with 42,000 k has a slight vibration I guess you would call it you can feel through your fingers at certain speeds. I looked and felt tires which are at approximately 4,000 k from being new and they are wearing on the inside, going to rotate and have it aligned asap.

View 4 Replies2009 FX4... Every once in a while, I'll feel a vibration in the gas pedal. It happens under acceleration, and typically if I'm pushing down and it has not downshifted yet. Then once it downshifts the vibration is less noticeable.
I have had the mechtronic unit replaced due to harsh shifting and the vibration was there before and after that was replaced. The drive shaft was also replaced due to a click/clinking noise and the vibration was there before and after as well. The harsh shifting and clinking noise was fixed with those repairs, but the vibration is still there. I notice it more when I am towing.
