I have a 2012 4x4 f150 163" wheelbase 8' bed that vibrates/shutter when you take off you fell it more when you are on an incline and a WHOLE lot more when you have a load on the truck (trailer/load of fire wood).
View 3 RepliesHave noticed lately 2012 4x4 sc with 42,000 k has a slight vibration I guess you would call it you can feel through your fingers at certain speeds. I looked and felt tires which are at approximately 4,000 k from being new and they are wearing on the inside, going to rotate and have it aligned asap.
View 7 RepliesHate to make a question like this my first post here, but anyway. Just got an '11, 5L, Scab, only have 350 miles on it and absolutely love this thing. Since I've never driven any other '11 F-150 I'm not sure if what I am feeling is normal or not for these trucks. With a light foot, driving around town my truck feels like it has a very slight shutter just before the 2-3 up shift or between 20-25 mph.
I have felt it in the 1-2 up shift but it appears to be intermittent but almost 80% of the time. Had a cup with ice-water in the cup-holder and exactly between 20-25 mph on the 2-3 up shift the water in the glass slightly ripples and caused the ice to slightly chatter. Is this normal or should I take it back and have Ford look at it?
Oh forgot to mention if I give the truck more aggressive throttle pressure I can't feel it, only seems to be low speeds, such as driving through a neighborhood or parking lot. I hoping it just needs to be broken in yet.
Been suffering some take off shudder as well as the 55mph shudder and finally took the truck into the dealer who informed me it is throwing a couple of misfire codes (no CEL). Quoted for spark plugs. Looking around the boards, seems a lot of people are seeing premature wear on the ecoboost plugs and have had success regapping or replacing. Any words from 5.0L owners? What are the odds they just need regapped? I'll probably just replace them anyway, but its a good discussion. Also are they are simple to replace as it looks- just pop the coil packs off and they are there in the valve covers?
View 14 RepliesI've got a 2003 F150 4x4 supercrew that's got a 9.75" rear end with 3.73 gears. I just replaced clutch packs and spider gear set 2 weeks ago. The last day or two I have noticed that when I make sharp turns that it get a whining like spinning noise. It sounds to me like the spider gears are spinning. It only does it when making sharp turns. There is no noise going down the highway or normal driver. I have noticed at times I get a little shutter when I go to take off or back up. Kinda feels like a brake is hanging. I put friction modifier in when I did the clutch packs and everything. Maybe not enough?

My question is my warranty ran out,I had a 30,000 or three year and now I have 31,000 plus it's like the truck new when the warranty ran out. There is a TSB on it,10-22-6 NOV 10 Drivetrain - Driveshaft Slip/Bump On Accel. Or Braking... Will they do any thing for me,and how much would it cost me to have the work done at a shop.

There is a TSB on it 10-22-6 NOV 10 Drivetrain - Driveshaft Slip/Bump On Accel. I am going to pull the rear driveshaft and put in new grease MERCURY MARINE GREASE with TEFLON (2-4-c ) part nbr 92-802863A . How much do I need, will 8 ounces be enough.
View 3 RepliesOn my '11 5.0L I've noticed at light to mid throttle if I get into 5 or 6 with the rpms down near 1k or so it will have a light but noticeable to me shudder type sensation. At first I thought maybe it was a converter lockup effect or possibly road noise but the more I drive the more I notice it. Very indistinct and mild with no check engine light and mileage was 17mpg mixed so I'm pretty convinced its not an engine shutter- but I have no experiencing dealing with these coyotes yet...
View 4 RepliesMy 2012 F150 has developed an odd issue.... It doesn't seem to want to always take off in first gear. I've had it happen several times where the truck would take off in a high gear but yesterday was the worst yet....I was towing my boat and the truck attempted to take off in 5th gear....I threw it in neutral and back in drive and it was fine, what's causing it.
View 7 RepliesI have 163,000 + on my 2009 fx4. Recently I have lost my take off power and passing power. I have the manifold leak but the dealership says that's not the problem. Took it in twice to the dealership and once to an independent and nobody knows what's wrong. No codes are showing. Had a dealership tune-up at about 120,000 miles. Need some starting points cause it's very annoying and unsafe. I tow alot and the "get up and go" is gone.
View 3 RepliesHaving trouble with a shutter upon take off in there drive train. It only happens when I am going straight. It does not do it when I am turning or anything. I just bought the truck used sat. It has around 18000 miles on it. I haven't had a chance to put a load on it yet to see if it does it then.

My friend has a clunk/lag on take off from a dead stop only. Drives fine down the road, but when taking off from a complete stop, you step on the gas, and nothing happens for a second, feels like it lags, then clunks, gives a jerk, and takes off.
From talking to other newer Ford owners, seems like a common problem.
I've been wondering why my 5.4L sounds so grumpy at take off and then so quiet at speed.
I'm assuming this ain't factory? Looks like a flowmaster but can't find any markings on it.
I want to get dual exhaust (yes I like the look) but can't figure if I want Magnaflow or Flowmaster.
What I'm looking for is performance (is there even such a thing--rhetorical) and pure-wood-developing raw rumbling noise! Not the kind of noise but the kind that if you want to pop the throttle a bit you let the awesome guy next to you know that this truck ain't no slum.
I'm trying to figure out tips and placement-- I'm thinking straight back is the best bet?
I am changing the front and rear axle fluids on my '10 f150.The rear was no problem,the front is my issue.I took all the bolts off and loosened the cover to drain the fluid but it is a tight space and cannot take it off completely to clean it up and put on the gasket sealer.
View 2 RepliesWell it's been 300 miles since Ford applied their "special grease" and put on clamps to eliminate the clunk when slowing and the slipping feeling at take off. Now the clunk is back. Every time at 25 it downshifts and clunks, then once again at 10. Drives me nuts. My service advisor wants me to "log" these visits so we can be more aggressive with Ford to get this resolved. I love the truck, but this is annoying driveline slop. Almost like the splines weren't cut right and Ford is using heavy grease to fill the gaps......developing...
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 Corolla CE (base model in Canada) that is completely stock. Took delivery in Dec 2011. Manual transmission. I am finding the car stalls from takeoff way too easily. Have had many manual trans cars before, and have experienced nothing like this.
Can be driving around town all day, no problem, then pulling away from a stop sign or light, and bam, I stall it. The clutch is a at a good peddle position - not too low, not too high.
Taking off on hills is a bit of a nightmare. Will stall easy there too. So I have to over-rev it to make sure I pull away from any stopped position. Passengers have noticed and said, "What are you doing! And I have to explain that if I don't over-rev from a takeoff, it may stall.
Case in point: at a car wash, aiming into the wheel slots to get into the track, at a very slow crawl in 1st and the car encountered resistance when the front tire rubbed the guide, and bam, it stalled.
After 7 months of driving this Corolla, I still can't get the hang of the clutch !! Does it sound like something is not set up correctly? What to check. Basically, it looks like I can't drive a standard.
We went to an out of town zoo over the weekend and the exit is going up a short but steep incline. When going up I get this very noticable shutter, vibration coming from underneath but thats the only time it does it. This is the 3rd weekend in a row weve been there and its done it everytime. Is there anything I could check? Normal driving is non issue, and going up this incline were only going like 5 mph or so. Im stumped.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2010 F150 Lariat 4x4 with the 5.4. It has around 63,000 miles on it. I purchased this truck last winter and recently have noticed a pretty heavy vibration when the AC is running. It only vibrates when I am at a stop. If I apply a little throttle the vibration seems to go away or it goes away if I shift to neutral. The vibration is not violent but it is above average and I would definitely not consider it normal AC vibration.
View 14 RepliesI have a 09 s crew with 6 1/2' bed also. Lariat, Max tow package (most of the cool toys) I bought it certified pre-owned in April of 2011.
My vibration is between 35 and 45 mph. Not felt in the steering wheel but all the seats feel it. Set the cruise at 40 mph and it will drive you nuts.Dealer has had it a couple days for this and all they have found was a sticky rear u-joint.
I am at 35,500 miles so I am thinking about just dropping it off and saying keep it till you find the problem.
My 2011 3.7 CC seems like it is missing at speed.
If I am around 75 or so in 6th is vibrates, but downshifting to 5th or 4th seem to take it away.
I am going in tomorrow and have the tires rotated and balance, but I think it is somewhere else. It has a little over 42,000 miles
I have a 2103 F150(5500 miles) and a 2013 Ranger Z522 bass boat( 23'-4800 lbs 3000 miles). I get that ole strange vibration between 60 and 65 when towing) My tire dealer balanced all 8 wheels for me. I tried to get my truck to do it by itself but did not notice. It does not do it all the time. I'm going to say about 1/2 the time it does it and then it will not. It only does it at that speed range which to me at one time was a wheel balance problem.
When it does it i can see the head of my trolling motor on my boat vibrate with it. I did try to give the truck a little power to see if it effects it. It did not. I did this because back in the 80's i had a truck that the drive shaft was a little out of balance. Power to the drive chain would effect it enough that you could notice. I've tried to get the truck to do it by itself but can't.
