Have noticed lately 2012 4x4 sc with 42,000 k has a slight vibration I guess you would call it you can feel through your fingers at certain speeds. I looked and felt tires which are at approximately 4,000 k from being new and they are wearing on the inside, going to rotate and have it aligned asap.
View 7 Replies2009 FX4... Every once in a while, I'll feel a vibration in the gas pedal. It happens under acceleration, and typically if I'm pushing down and it has not downshifted yet. Then once it downshifts the vibration is less noticeable.
I have had the mechtronic unit replaced due to harsh shifting and the vibration was there before and after that was replaced. The drive shaft was also replaced due to a click/clinking noise and the vibration was there before and after as well. The harsh shifting and clinking noise was fixed with those repairs, but the vibration is still there. I notice it more when I am towing.
My neighbor has a 2010 or 2011 Screw with only less than 10K miles. He complains that the steering wheel vibrates when he applies the brakes; not all of the time, but most of the time. Could it be pads/rotors? With this mileage, and no stop and go traffic, I cannot believe it would be the pads/rotors.........

I'm having one of those moments, you know after you do a mod to your truck and all of a sudden you notice something about your truck that could have been there all along but now you notice it as something new? Ok earlier in the week I had my exhaust resonator removed and replaced with a straight-pipe by a reputable exhaust shop. IMO the work looks to be pretty good for what it is.
That said I have always been nervous about getting exhaust work on any vehicle because it always seems like tampering with or removing the OEM plumbing for aftermarket or custom work tends to develop a vibration at some point.
So here is what I've noticed over the last couple days, when driving my truck it is extremely smooth, almost like glass. When I come to a complete stop say at a traffic light about 1-2 seconds after making the complete stop I feel this slight harmonic vibration in the steering wheel. For those of you that have an iphone it would be like having your phone bolted to the steering shaft somewhere and it on constant vibration if that makes sense.
Just to prove it only happens when I'm sitting still and idling in (D)rive I sat in my driveway with the truck idling, set the park brake and released the brake pedal holding the truck in place in (D)rive with the parking brake. No vibration, smooth as glass engine idle, as soon as I put my foot back on the brake pedal the vibration comes back. It's as if the extra draw of applying the brakes puts an extra load on some sort of accesory drive or componant under the hood and the result is this harmonic vibration.
Just so everyone knows, the vibration is very noticeable to me because I drive the truck daily, most people wouldn't pick it out if I didn't tell them first. Case in point if my wife drives the truck she can't feel it unless I tell her what to look for. There are going to be some of you that just say my truck doesn't do this and has had a smooth idle for XX,XXX miles I believe you but let me know now that I have explained exactly what to look for. Like I said for all I know it's done this since day one.
I have a feeling that the straight pipe might have been welded in slightly longer than the oem section that was removed thus putting more tention on the exhaust and engine if that makes sense, the end result being a slight vibration?? I know that manufactures put these little rubber bushings along the exhaust system on cars/ truck to absorb harmonic vibrations and for all I know my resonator might have been designed to balance out harmonic vibes in the exhaust system as well as quiet down the exhaust.
I have a 2012 4x4 f150 163" wheelbase 8' bed that vibrates/shutter when you take off you fell it more when you are on an incline and a WHOLE lot more when you have a load on the truck (trailer/load of fire wood).
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 super crew ecoboost and about 50 mph and up on the highway i can hear and feel a vibration in the column. i have over sized tires but these came off my 11 f150 and it never had this issue with them. they are 33's on 18" wheels no that that large.
View 4 RepliesI have noticed recently that I have a "rubbing" noise and vibration coming from the right front wheel on my FX4. It is most noticeable from 5-10 MPH, and more pronounced when turning right. it is not constant. It sounds almost like a brake pad rubbing on a badly warped, wet rotor. It goes away when I apply the brakes. I am thinking bearing or possible CV joint.
The dealer can't get it in until Tuesday, and they say I will have to pay the deductible on the ESP, even if it is related to the steering vibration they could not replicate or fix about a month ago. I am seriously considering going to another dealer for my service. Given, they did absorb the deductible last time, but they didn't fix the problem!
2014 crewcab lariat 4x4. Here is the question. This is only when I'm backing
it up and only after putting truck back in drive do I get the steering wheel whine. It sounds as if it is low on fluid. Only last for a seconds or two. Could this be the start of a steering problem or possibly a brake issue? Just throwing this out there.
I just bought a 2015 Camry LE 2 weeks ago and noticed a slight annoying steering wheel vibration when you hit 40 kph and above. You can also feel it on the floor and when you hold the door. Brought it to the dealership and they balanced the wheel. It seemed to have made a difference and you can now feel the vibrations from 80 kph and above. Did a road test with the mechanic and the service manager but they couldn't feel anything and told me it was normal road vibrations. Was advised to go to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. 2nd dealership found a slight excessive loaded runout on the LF tire and road force balanced it.
After 2 days i can again feel a vibration, but this time now at 115 kph and above.I thought I was just being paranoid so I drove a Maxima for 2 days and never felt a vibration.
I just inherited a 2012 F150 Fx4 Super Crew. Nice looking truck, but the wheels are stock 17" steel. Need upgrading to nicer looking wheels/wheel covers w/o breaking the bank?

View 3 RepliesI just recently bought my wife a 2013 Accent GS HB to Drive with 11k on the odometer and we have noticed what I think is excessive vibration at idle and small changes in RPM (Not like Hunting but on a smaller scale). Is this normal? I have driven the Prius for about a year now and I just think I'm a little too sensitive going from an engine that doesn't run at idle or at stops to one that does. I read other owners having the same experience, and to me it feels like a possible motor mount. At speed it's fine but I was just curious. We love the car regardless but it's still something that we wonder is normal.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2014 FX4 Ecoboost with 2K miles. While driving in a straight line on smooth roadway I feel a slight 'clunk' in the steering wheel. Feels a bit like slack or something. It only happens when the steering wheel is in perfectly neutral position ( straight up) with no turn to either side. Oddly I feel it more when I hold the steering wheel in the lower half as opposed to the upper side. Could it be 4X4 play or splines or loose something in chassis?
View 14 Replies2011 F-150 Classic Sync w/ satellite factory radio. A few hundred miles over warranty the radio controller side of the steering wheel buttons has randomized, where the buttons each do a different function, but none of them turn the volume down. Volume Up changes the source, volume down = up, etc. The cruise control side seems to still work.
I have disconnected the battery cable and also done a software reset on SYNC. Read on on other forums to disconnect the air bag and open the steering wheel to spray electrical cleaner in there, or for other radio problems to pull fuse #2. Is this a ghost in the machine type issue?
Also, I have had the truck in for service one time already for the driver door speaker fading out when turning right at specific volume levels. They put in a new speaker which resolved it until the warranty ran out and now it happens again. Could both of these be indicative of a bad radio, or deeper wiring problems?
My Steering wheel is losing the outer coating. is this been seen before?
View 12 RepliesMy '11 has almost 60,000 miles on it and I've turned the front rotors down once already for a vibration at 42,000 miles. Front pads looked good at that time, but I'm pretty sure the brakes are otherwise all original (2nd owner). Not feeling it in the pedal but starting to get a steering wheel vibration when I touch the brakes above 60mph and I figure they will be getting due sooner than later- though I still have not pulled the rears down to check them.
Whats the consensus on replacement brake parts? Is OEM the way to go? I figure any decent ceramic pad set should be fine but what about rotors, OEM, raybestos, wearever, etc? I know everybody wants USA made but realistically price is a major factor. I can get Raybestos advanced rotors and pro pads shipped from rockauto for slightly more than wearever pads and rotors from advanced- is it worth it? Or are the OEM rotors notably more durable?
Keep in mind this truck sees light to empty loading 99.5% of the time and the stock front rotors needed turned at 42,000 and are starting to show signs again at under 60,000.
Front wheel bearings making noise. Can I buy replacement bearings/races/seals, or must i buy a whole new hub front assembly?
