I have a 2012 3.5 eco boost. It has 82,000 miles. I just purchased a large travel trailer. That is the first thing I have ever towed. When I was accelerating onto the interstate the engine started making a chirping noise.( not the normal turbo whistle). It went away when the rpms came down, and now every time I accelerate, it makes the same noise around 2000-2500 under load.
View 6 Replies2010 F150 XLT 4.6V .... Not too long ago my truck started making this whining/roaring noise when I accelerate. It does not matter what speed I am going from the slowest to the fastest it makes this noise but it does not make it when it is idle or at least it is not loud to the point where I can hear it while inside my truck. I am not sure what this can be I am at about 51,000 miles and have no problems other than the noise besides the fact that to me it seems as if it pulls at times when I drive it but others say they don't feel it pull. So I am not sure what is going on and I do not want to take it to any mechanic I'd rather fix it myself and know what is going on with my vehicle?

For the past 30 k my truck vibrates between 20/30 kmh when accelerating mostly when making a right turn and when engine is warm, feels just like driving with 4x4 and doing a u-turn....
I'll get the transmission flushed but didn't work (does shift smoother though). They said the u-joints were still good ,no play. I don't hear any strange noise either
In the last while i read a lot about trouble with the pinion angle/driveshaft/slip yoke and what all on the newer f150
Can I grease the slip yoke myself easily or? Is there a complete aftermarket driveshaft available that solves the problem permanently instead of temporary or would it be the transfercase? Cause i didn't buy this truck new so not sure if the transfer case oil ever got changed,or does it not need to be changed ever?
Front wheel bearings making noise. Can I buy replacement bearings/races/seals, or must i buy a whole new hub front assembly?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 F150 FX2 5.0 motor that hit 16,000 miles. I took it yesterday to dealer for oil change. After 1 hour they advised me it was ready and that it was sitting outside. When I start the truck with my door open I notice a slight metal on metal sound coming from the driver side wheel well. Its not a constant taping sound. It more like its morse code. I called the service adviser. They take the truck, They came back 30 mins later and said. They hear the sound. Sounds like it coming from the bottom of the motor by the oil pain. They confirm its coming from the motor. I had 2 options.. Leave truck and let them dig into it or come back on Monday and drop the truck off. I left with the truck but will be returning on Monday. I spoke to a buddy mechanic and he said something is wrong and he believes they ran my truck without oil. He said maybe the tech started the truck and then realized he forgot the oil..

My throw out bearing makes a faint chirping noise since I bought the car, but now that the weather has been in teens, it seems to be louder.
I was wondering if it is possible to grease the throw out bearing or something without dropping the transmission.
Intermittent chirping noise when accelerating from a stop. It sounds like a brake chirp but it comes and goes. Not brakes. Changed pads and turned rotors chirp is still there.
View 2 RepliesSo i just had my torque converter recall done yesterday but before that happened i told the dealer that iv been experiencing a chirping like noise when in gear and when tapping on the gas. It's very quick and goes away once i ease off the pedal. Anyways they told me it could be the transmission. Mind you i had my car for a year. I bought the car brand spankin new and currently have 19,000 miles. All they said was oh hey come back if you still have that noise which i do. So im thinking they didn't even look into it because its pretty obvious the noise it makes. Im wondering what this could be?

My mother's 09 Corolla XLE just started making this high pitched noise.. It makes this noise every other day, then it makes a loud pop sound and goes back to normal..
I bought a 2010 f150 from the company I work for.... It had a blown front diff, when I bought it, I just put a complete front diff assembly and front drive shaft on it. Thought I was golden, but when I accelerate fast there is a slipping/ snapping noise which sounds like it's coming from transfer case area... Accelerate slow and steady up to highway speeds it doesn't happen. This problem only happens in four wheel drive.... what this could be!???
View 4 RepliesBought my 2009 super cab with 6.5 bed little over a month ago. It has the 4.6 3v. A couple weeks after I got all the symptoms of a dry slip yoke. Thumping at stop and start. Shortly after I also started getting a very bad vibration the got progressively worse during acceleration. Felt like the truck was going to bounce off the road. With the vibration there was also a loud chirping noise from underneath. Thinking this was related to the skip yoke problem I pulled the driveshaft and lubricated the yoke with CV joint grease my dealer gave me since they didn't have the Teflon grease.
Truck was fine for a couple weeks. No thumping no vibration no chirping. Last week the vibration and chirping came back just as bad. I got the ford Teflon grease and pulled the driveshaft again. The very next day the vibration and chirping came back. No thumping or other noise like before my initial grease job. When it starts shaking I stop and shut the truck off. Usually once I do that and wait a couple minutes I'm ok. Only happens intermittently. U joints?
I drive a 2001 Ford F150 4.6L , Miles at 175,000+ (a little more but no more than 176k)
Situation as it happened : Driving home from work for lunch, about halfway home I notice that my Oil Light is on and the Gauge has dropped to below the "L." Engine started making noise, best I can compare it to is to the sound of a diesel engine when it's idle. Immediately pull over after noticing this, shut off engine for about 5 mins, check oil, oil is fine. Turn truck back on, light is off, gauge is normal, and noise isn't as loud as it was before. Drive rest of the way home no problem. After deciding on driving the truck back to work (I know i shouldn't have but I have no other means of transportation, and I work at Autozone so I wanted one of my managers there to check it out) I turn on engine, everything is fine, no oil light, gauge is in the middle of the "H" and "L", only thing wrong was the engine noise, except like earlier it wasn't too loud or shaking the truck. About halfway to work, I come to a stop sign, Oil gauge shoots down below the "L" and the oil light come on.
As soon as that happens engine starts making same loud noise as before (diesel truck idling.) I push the gas to get past the stop sign, and instantly truck loses power in pedal and just shuts off. Make it to side of road, hasn't turned on since. Never had any problems with the truck since I bought it 5 months ago, changed the oil 1 time about 2 months after I bought it. I'm just hoping my engine hasn't seized up on me.
Not sure if this matters, but about 4 days prior to this, truck was making a rattling noise, almost like shaking a can of paint , under the front drivers side, in the suspension. Was told those were probably due to my sway bar link bushings being busted.
After some research on here and other websites as well, I have come to find out that this is pretty common in most Fords? Most people recommend changing the oil pressure switch, and others say it could be the oil pump? Was planning on changing out Oil Pressure Switch, and changing the oil filter/oil , and fuel filter as well. Not sure what else I could do?
I have a 2012 f150 supercrew ecoboost with 6,000 miles on it. I just took it into the dealer for a clinking noise from the rear end. It happens when shifting between D and R and during dowshifting at low speeds. They said that ford is aware of this noise but does not have a fix yet.
View 2 RepliesRecently my engine started making a rattling noise. It does not matter if the engine is warm or cold. In either condition it produces the same noise. The noise can be best heard at the back of the engine. My car is a Sonata 2.4 GLS from 2006 and has roughly 110000km on the odometer.

I'm having an issue where when the fan is set to the lower fan speeds it will make a high pitched, harmonic chirping noise. I've isolated it to the operation of the fan, so I know it's something to do with the HVAC stuff.
View 2 RepliesI have an 04 dodge ram. I have recently encountered a chirping noise at low speed (it may be there at higher speed, but I can't hear it over the engine). It sounds like rubber, rubbing against itself or birds underneath the truck. The noise speeds up and gets a bit louder as I accelerate. The sound generally goes away or I can't hear it after 25-30 mph. This only happens when in motion, so I don't think it's the belts. I've read a number of things from CV Joints to Bushings and not sure if it's either.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 F-150 4x4 super crew all factory with 54,000 mi. I've noticed a new noise/hum at slower speeds, more frequent now. The noise doesn't sound like its from the front or back specifically. I pulled the front wheels this evening and the front rotors seem pretty tight, how easily should they turn with vehicle off for about 30 min? I started it and pushed and released the brake and quickly tried to turn them, very tight, after a minute or two they relaxed a little, another 5 min they seemed tighter? I sharpie mark on both inside and outside of the rotor and turned it past the pads and they are both squeezing equally ruling out binding of the slider bolts.
View 3 RepliesThis morning, the driver's heated seat in my 2012 Lariat did not seem to operate properly. (It worked fine approx 14 hours earlier.) Note that my seats have both the heat and cool options.
I started the truck (its NOT garaged and the air temp was -5 F, which has been kinda typical lately) and turned on the driver's heated seat to high (level 3). I noticed that the seat's 'air noise' was more than normal (I've always noticed a more air noise with the 'cool' setting .........
No, I was not using 'cool' instead of 'heat' !) and that the seat never warmed up during the 10 minute drive. (Normally it would be noticeably warm in less than 5 minutes.) The 'air noise' seemed to cycle off/on toward the end of the drive. I did not have a passenger, so I did not have a chance to try that seat.
I've owned the truck about 2 years and had never run into this before.
I've got an '12 F-150 with 7k mi. on it. It developed a squeak/creak noise about 1k. mi. ago. It comes from the r. front suspension area and I noticed it one morning leaving from work. It occurs under suspension loading/unloading and it only happens during cold and dry conditions. It won't make the noise when it's wet or damp outside. I've had it at the local dealer 2 times now and they can't seem to locate it. It sounds like rubber on metal or when the 97 & 98's had the dry tie rod ends or ball joints problem. They are reluctant to throw parts at it to try and eliminate it and I agree with them. What were the findings?
View 5 RepliesThe other night I was going up the mountain and while going it started making a clicking noise..probably from no oil..We had been told from the dealership there was a small leak but nothing to worry about at the moment.We tested it and it wasn't leaking visibly but I guess with it getting cold out the hole got bigger and we didn't notice so all the oil leaked out as we were powering the lil car through the mountains..Needless to say on the cruise down it started shaking i saw some sparks and I think the rod went through my engine block and we broke down. It's completely dead. The car has right around 200,000 miles on it and has always been very well taken care of.I just traded my dad the car about 7 months ago for my 4-runner cause of gas prices..I moved across the country and of course have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS since day one.
