View 2 RepliesI have a 99 Passat and the lights behind the 3 heater control knobs just went out. All the other lights work. I tried to get the radio out to get to the lights but it seems a special tool is needed. I tried some homemade devices but they did not work.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 F-150 with a 5.0 V8 and am in need of a block heater. Who makes an aftermarket heater that can be installed in this truck. I expect to see lows as low as -50.
View 4 RepliesWe all know the front door speakers on these are horrible. I am changing them out all the time under warranty for being blown. In doing so I decided it was time for a video on how to remove the door panel without damage to get at the speakers and swap in aftermarket etc.

So the other morning I drive the 140 miles out of town to work for the week. when I pull up to the job site the cooling fans were revving really really high! never heard this before. then it went back to normal after I opened the gate and parked my truck and shut it off. I'm driving maybe 5 miles tops to the job and back to the motel every day. however that is far enough that my heater should be warming up and it's not even coming close to warm. it blows cold air. and to compound that I'm not sure the cooling fans are even working. they don't appear to be. Is there a connection here?

I have a 2011 F150 FX4 Ecoboost w/ 37K. I recently had to have the master cylinder replaced along w/ all my brake pads because it was not disengaging the calipers properly, so all of my pads were prematurely worn and cracked. I was wondering, it seems like this shouldn't happen on a truck this "young".
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 F-150 Super Crew and have had to replace the back up camera due to a malfunction. Once the dealer replaced it under warranty I was no longer able to get all the options that the previous camera had. Since then the 2nd camera went bad and I just had it replaced again. This new camera still is missing 2 of the options the original camera had. The dealer now tells me that they must have been deleted off the software on the replacement cameras. They were unable to verify that through Ford though.
View 6 RepliesReplacing a heater control valve for a 2004 Jetta? My car's vents only blow hot, and I checked the cables and saw that the control arm was disconnected. I tried to put the cylinder piece back in and had some luck, but I can't get it to sit tightly in there and it keeps falling out. Also, it still wont change the temperature coming out of the vents. I assume that something broke on the inside piece that the cylinder connected to.

Here is an example of what mine kind of looks like, but mine is way more loose.
They are supposed to light up right? Mine don't ... Would this just be a light out or something?
View 11 RepliesJust wondering if this would hurt anything or if it's a splash guard of sorts. There's been previous posts about the alternators being mounted too low on these trucks and getting water damaged over short periods of time.

View 14 RepliesI am looking at using a 2009 F150 XLT to rig up a soil sampling truck. I was hoping to remove the front-passenger and front-centre seat to make room for a probe that will go through the floor into the soil. As I was looking through articles to see if this was possible I read that some newer models dont make this easy, as there are air bag sensors and seat belt sensors that screw up the process. Before going out to look at the truck and make an offer, I was wondering - if there are any tips for removing these seats.
View 3 RepliesOk so this morning it finally got cold here. Around 10F degrees outside. Had a light coat of frost on the truck'just enough to make it hard to see out the windshield. I had the defrost on, fan speed set to high, temp. control set to high. After 20 minutes of driving it still wasn't getting hot in the truck. I had made a clear spot on the windshield so I could see to drive but the rest of it never cleared. Took the cabin of the truck forever to warm up at all. The fan doesn't seem to blow very hard on the highest setting on this truck. Air doesn't get very hot either. What's the issue here? Is this normal for these trucks? You'd think that on a truck that's commonly used in fleets and for work crews that they'd have designed these things with awesome heaters. Dang it's gonna' freeze me to death this winter.
View 14 RepliesMy 2010 f150 Ford 5.4 liter Extended Cab Pickup Heater Fan has a mind of it's own. It is on high and will not go down or off. The icon works, looking like the fan is increasing or decreasing, but it does not. Is there a quick fix for this problem. I watched a YouTube on the problem maybe being the Blower Motor Resistor Control. If this is right, what is the procedure to fix the problem?
View 7 RepliesI noticed today my heater did not kick in when I started my truck and about 10 minutes into my drive I finally began feeling hot air. Soon after the air was no longer blowing hot. What this may be and how to verify the issue? I'm interested in taking care of this myself if it is easy/moderate level of difficulty to isolate issue and fix.

View 15 RepliesInstalled the Rough Country winch mount yesterday. One hour, by myself. Used a floor jack to lift it in place.
Only problem was removing the plastic molding which came in the spot the fairlead will be. Just a small rectangular plastic molding with a couple of bars down the middle for looks. It had two screws on top edge, and two pushpins on bottom , but also was molded with two catches on each side on the back I did not see. When I figured it out, and squeezed with just my fingers, little too hard and snapped one catch on each side. They slide into a slot and catch but wont be doing that ever again. Oh well.
As for mount, solid and easy to install. I used hand tools as the air gun would only hit one of the bolts for the front tow hooks. The other was blocked by plastic molding. No big deal.
