I drive a 2011 f-150 5.0. I hit a crater-sized pothole out on a dirt road and the check battery light came on. The truck hesitates slightly when i put on the gas. I already check the voltage on the battery 13v off 15 on and I took off the Postive cable and the truck still ran. What could be causing the issue.
View 1 RepliesIt's my first time experiencing a flat tire after hitting a pothole. I was on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, NY on Saturday evening after watching The Amazing Spiderman 2. It was about 12:15 AM, and there were still a lot of cars on the road. (and they were fast!!!) I wasn't aware and hit a pothole, and I immediately heard a loud "BANG" noise from the left wheel. I switched on the tire pressure indicator on the dashboard right afterward, and the air pressure started decreasing. Luckily, I was able to find an exit early and pulled over on local road to check the car. I swapped out the flat tire with the spare and went home safely with my girlfriend.
* I was surprised that the Bridgestone Turanza was able to hold up with 0 air pressure, without letting the rim rolling and touching on the ground.
* Rim is fine - no bent, no scratch
* Took the wheel to a tire shop and discovered that there must be some sharp edges in the pothole, which teared the side of the tire for about 2 inches (right underneath the tip of the rim). Total replacement with installation - $290. Shop ordered a brand new tire (same model) and I will return on Monday to get the tire fixed.
1) How do I check whether the suspension is okay?
2) The tire pressure indicator on the gauge shows nothing now - all 4 wheels. I'm not sure what's going on. I still have the spare wheel on, so I'm not sure whether this is causing the issue.
3) Where is the tire pressure sensor located? When I return to the tire shop on Monday, will the tire guy know how to swap out the bad tire with the new one without messing up with the tire pressure sensor in there?
I recently picked up a really clean 2011 F150. Once thing I notice is the brief smell of manure at startup. I bought a ventilation cleaning kit which has a hose to snake up the drain hose. Little did I know how much of a PITA this was going to be. Best I can see, the drain is behind the heat mat on the firewall and not easy to get to.
Questions - Is there another way into the system? Since there isn't a cabin filter (first odd discovery for a modern vehicle), can I get in through the intake side?
While bucking a 30+ headwind on the highway @ 70mph, hit a pothole, got a check engine light and engine died. Traffic heavy and dangerous so I stayed on electric power longer than I should have to get off onto a service road. Determined my 12 volt battery terminals were very loose from vibration, I'm assuming. But now the car will not stay running when started. SOC shows 2.5%, main battery 0 volts.
Towed home, recharged main battery to 7.3vdc per module, yet car still shows same SOC and will not stay running. Currently, disconnected 12 volt battery overnight to see if things look better after system sits disconnected for several hours.
I have the stock 16-inch Bioline wheels on my '10 JSW TDI. After hitting a big pothole on the Pennsylvania turnpike (stupid of me, I know), the car started to shake noticeably above 55 m.p.h. Tire pressure was normal. When I replaced the wheel (right front) with the spare, the shaking went away.
Did I damage the wheel? Normally, I would attribute shaking to the alignment being off, but---again---the car doesn't shake when the spare is on. I would have thought it would take more to damage a 16-inch alloy wheel, but what do I know?
I'm trying to decide whether I should pay to have the alignment checked or start scouring the classifieds for a replacement wheel already.
I hit a pothole on I 55 going about 70 mph and the ABS/tire pressure lights went on. My gut feeling is that this is not serious, as the car is 14 years old (131,000 miles) and runs well. Figure it's just a sensor or connection issue or something like that. Is there a way that I can test to see if my ABS has stopped working without going to a mechanic? The tire pressure light comes on now and then at high speeds and usually means nothing.
View 5 RepliesI've had this problem for years but is now getting worse. It used to only happen when it was really cold out, subzero, but is now happening as we now approach 50 degrees out. If I hit a pothole or pop over a small curb, I get a clunk in the rear. I replaced the shocks about 3 months ago which seemed to work briefly but the problem is back and is worse than ever.
I have the original springs and it looks like the recall was done by the previous owner (rubber bumber stops installed).
230k miles. Do I need new springs?
I just bought a 2013 Hyundai sonata (this is my first car) and I found a wired thing happening when I just turn on the car (without turning on the engine) that Malfunction indicator light, Changing System warning system warning light, EPS and Check Engine Light are ALL on but after I start the engine, these lights will be off. Is this normal or there is something wrong with it?
View 2 RepliesJust returned from an 8500 mile travel trailer trip with my 2012 F150 with EcoBoost. Couldn't be happier with how the truck performed. Did discover, however, that my 7-pin connector does NOT charge trailer battery while driving. Wasn't a problem this trip, but could be an issue when dry camping (no electrical hookup). Is it a big deal to get my connector to charge trailer battery while driving?
View 14 RepliesHad my 2011 to the dealer multiple times for this problem. If I use a thumb drive or iPod in the usb drive sometimes it will lock up the Sync system. The voice command button wont work. The phone button wont work. I have tried 3 different thumb drives as well as an iPod. It is an intermittent problem. The system never has a problem unless I use the usb port.
I thought I had it worked out by removing the thumb drive when I turned the truck off and reinstalling it after the truck was running but this morning it crapped out again using this method. I thought (so did the dealer)starting the truck with the drive installed was the issue but it is not. Dealer already replaced the Sync module. Did not work. Something in the usb port or connection.
My 2011 3.7 CC seems like it is missing at speed.
If I am around 75 or so in 6th is vibrates, but downshifting to 5th or 4th seem to take it away.
I am going in tomorrow and have the tires rotated and balance, but I think it is somewhere else. It has a little over 42,000 miles
2011 Lariat. My key fob is starting to come apart, and dropping it didn't work any.
View 7 Repliesi have a 2011 f150 xlt with the 5.0, my 4x4 does not lock in very well, i practically have to come to a stop and wait for it to engage fully or it starts banging and slipping like its trying to engage and not quite making it. are they still suppose to be on the fly? is there any kind of maintenance that i can do to them to have them work better? are they still locking hubs or did they change something?

View 4 RepliesBeen having an issue lately with the AC system on my 2010 4.6L F150. The AC system is not working properly and is only blowing air the same temp as outside. In other words, if its 60 degrees in the morning the AC will blow cool, but later in the day its blowing warm. Pushes air no problem, but living in Florida, it's mainly warm air. Compressor clutch is kicking on and off fairly rapidly when on max AC setting (5-10 seconds on, then 5-10 seconds off). Hooked up gauge to low pressure side and the readings were 60psi WITH compressor on, then fell to 30psi when the compressor turns off. Where to start? Haven't done too many AC fixes before. Potentially a bad compressor? Overcharged lines?

View 6 RepliesMy problem is this. I hear my transmission shifting through my heating system. I will explain. When I have my heating system on I hear my transmission shifting like a humming. The transmission shifts just fine. When I turn off my heating system the hum goes away.
The truck is a 2012 F4 ecoboost with 149000 Km or 92000 miles.
How do you remove the pcv valve on 2011 5.0l. I don't want to break it .
View 1 RepliesI bought a 2011 F-150 a year ago. Today was I driving my truck like usual and for some odd reason, it revved up to 3500 and then my truck shooked like I hit a big pump. I'm debating whether I have a faulty transmission or something. I barely touched the foot pedal. I wasn't evening barely putting any pressure on the accelerator and for some odd reason, it revved up that high and something shook my truck. I know a little bit about vehicles, my transmissions are not my thing. I'm gonna' take it in Monday morning to work.
View 1 RepliesWe purchased a brand new 16' tandem trailer last night. Plugged it in to my husbands 2011 F150 and hooked it up, lights went on, directionals, hazards, and break lights will not go on UNLESS the trailer light itself is taken off the trailer. We are thinking a grounding issue.
We pulled our 2011 F150 up to another trailer, same issue, only the running lights works.
Two days ago a old single axle trailer worked fine, break lights, directionals, everything.
When the owner put electrical tape around the bolts that connected the lights to the trailer the directionals worked, then they tightened up the nuts it touched the metal part of the trailer, it (meaning directionals, hazards, break lights) stopped working, (but the running lights stayed on). Are we tripping or what the heck is going on here?
Will be towing about 5k to Fla. in march from Chicago area. have 2011 F150 SCrew 3.73. max tow package , ecoboost. Wondering to use tow/haul all the time or just using it in the hilly parts of Tenn. Have heard that running in overdrive will mess up the tranny.
