i have a 2010 f-150. during the day normal sunshine the gauge area is to dark to see any unless you put your head down close to the steering wheel.at night when the lights are on it is just great. At dusk the lights on the dash come on by them self. is there something i can do to have them on all the time i have good eyes & do not wear glasses.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2011 F150 supercrew 4x4 5.0, it has almost 8k miles. I have looked around online to see if this is a common issue but haven't found anything really. The airbag warning light in the instrument cluster will come on and stay on randomly. Some days it only lights up when I start the truck, other days it will turn on and stay on until I restart the truck. I think I have a glitch or a malfunction in a switch somewhere with the Airbag system. I will be calling the dealership about it after we finish the Easter Weekend.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 F150. When parked for a period of time, it kills the battery. It flashes the lights on and off as though the remote were locking and unlocking the doors and after a couple of weeks there is not enough juice in the battery to start the truck. Ford has been unable to find the problem, they replaced the headlight switch which did not correct the problem.

View 3 RepliesI purchased a new '09 f150 in '09. the truck has been fine except the dash light problem which ford has declined to correct. In low light i have no dash lights. it must be completely dark for the lights to work.
Last fall I drove a windy 2 lane secondary road at dusk without dash lights. I could not read the gauges. I did not know how fast i was traveling. This road has several tight corners.
The truck is powerful, accelerates quickly and weighs about 6,000 lbs. this is a very dangerous situation!! I have been to the dealership several times and phoned the ford customer service but to no avail!! Fords response is 'they're all like this'!!!!!!!!!!!??
For the last few months my truck has been throwing an intermittent check engine light due to the same code every time - P0171. The dealer has allegedly checked everything and has given me the "We have done all we can do" speech. Lead tech even suggested that since today's fuels have alcohol in them, that a check engine light would be normal. The truck has been in the shop 3 times with no success or even remote possibility of what the problem could be.
The check engine light has since gone from intermittent to constant and comes back on after 5 drive cycles after clearing with an OBD2 scanner. Also, I'm now getting a P0174 code.
Personally, I think they're trying to blow me off because I'm a few months and about 2k miles away from being out of CPO warranty.
Truck is a 2013 F150 Super crew 2wd 5.0 with about 45k miles.
red dash light comes on after 1 km, most times. dealer says abs module but no abs light or codes

Intermittent BRAKE (red) light in dash , no other symptoms
Brakes work fine, mechanic is baffled
Noticed on my wife's 2013 F150 that when you put the key in the ignition without turning it on that the dash lights will flicker on/off and the easy out power seat will move back and forth if you wiggle the key. My SD did the same thing while under warranty and the dealer replaced the ignition switch. How hard of a repair is this to do? It doesn't do this with the key in the acc or run position.
View 1 RepliesHaving problems with the auto-up feature on your windows? Mine seems to randomly stop working from time to time. Only the drivers side has the problem. When the truck was new the dealer re-programmed the computer and put a new window switch in. That worked for a while but the problem keeps coming back. I can easily do the re-programming sequence however the problem always comes back. I have a 2012 Lariat SCREW.

I have done a reset 3 or 4 times, and nothing changes. I checked the owners manual, but didn't find anything.
Did a search on here, but found nothing.
Any work around/fix for the gauge brightness dropping so dramatically with the headlights on? I have it maxed out on the rocker switch (brightest) but would like to be closer or equal to daytime brightness.
View 3 RepliesHave a '13 F150 Platinum. Recently three things "broke" at the same time and I suspect a fuse but cannot locate the right one. At first I thought it was just the GD Opener, but when trying to reprogram it, I realized the red lights were not lighting up and the Drivers side Vanity Mirror light was not working.
About the same time, I noticed that the Instrument Cluster Memory function quit working and weirdly, every time the truck is switched off and then back on, it always comes back to the trailer tow screen for my Snowmobile trailer.
I thought i had it solved when I found that the trailer back-up lamp relay power fuse ( #43 in fusebox under hood) was blown. I replaced with a good 15 amp fuse and the problems are still there. I have searched high and low and cannot find a fuse for the Car2u GD Opener or the Driver Vanity Mirror Light (neither Vanity light for that matter. I tested all under hood fuses, but the kick panel fuses are impossible to check one-by-one.
just had a question about my trucks coolant bought it used from a dealership a month ago and the coolant was fine i recently was checking everything today and saw that the coolant was a light brown with what looks like dirt floating in it. It smells like normal coolant there's no oil in the reservoir, not milky or sludgy just a light brown truck is running at normal temperatures ac and heat work and it has only 26k miles

I got a Bully Dog GT Platinum Gas with plans to purchase a tune from 5starturning. Was messing around and loaded the built in 05-10 Ford Gas tune in Bully Dog... all went well.
Take it for a drive around and next thing I see is my check engine light is on so back to the house and revert back to the factory file... again, all went well.
No such luck; still have the check engine light and the Bully Dog says there are no DTC codes. Needless to say, I'm a bit freaked out.
I have tried uninstalling the Bully Dog tune and reverting to factory file and still no luck.
I think I would feel better about it if I could just find some comment saying "this is common just unhook the battery and reset and go on your merry way".
Town and all shops nearby have a week wait to get the truck in there. This happened once or twice a year ago but I'd pull over, shut it off and when I restarted it everything was fine. I'll be driving and all of a sudden the information display on the cluster will show a wrench signaling something's wrong(see image), then the speedometer will go to 0 and all information in center display will show flat lines. This started up yesterday but is now doing it after about 10min of driving every time I being driving. What's worse is the truck will randomly start shifting or shift extremely hard even when driving at a consistent speed. This was taken while truck was going about 45, but shows 0...

View 1 RepliesI was loading some 2x4's and one hit the rear tail light housing and broke it easily. Hard to believe it broke so easy. Will be picking up a new one at the dealer! Wish it was made out of high impact plastic . You can't just get the clear cover. You have the buy the whole unit.
View 8 RepliesThis happened last year right at the end of winter and than stopped during summer, just started back up today, just so we have all the info- my airbag light in cluster comes on and airbag off light come on above radio and both turn off. Once the truck is started a very loud ear piercing single tone comes from under dash (130 dB at least) this can range from 5-30 seconds depending on how cold it is outside.

Also the rear defogger switch doesn't light up. We don't know if the switch to it is just bad, OR if the whole system is bad.
Was also wondering if the blend door would be bad??
