Have a raw gas smell inside the cab, what could be causing this. When heater is on and vent at mid section I notice the smell coming in worse.

View 5 RepliesMy 2010 F150 super crew cab is rusting from the inside out on both cab corners. I purchased my truck about 3 years ago with 75,000 miles on it. After about 3 months I noticed the 3rd brake light was leaking. I went to the dealer but they wouldn't warranty it due to the mileage. They did acknowledge that there was a problem with the 3rd brake lamp leaking and was willing to sell me new parts. So I repaired that ASAP. I don't how long is was leaking prior to that. Fast forward a couple years later the corners are starting to bubble. I am assuming this what caused the cab corners to rust.
View 4 RepliesI have lots of info these manifolds. Have gone through four including both sides twice. This last time it seems the manifold has a crusty residue on the inside. The mechanic says it may be a bad head gasket.
View 14 RepliesA week ago, I bought my wife a 2010 Platnium White Lariat. (I will post pics later, when it's clean). We noticed that the smell of fuel, was bad after driving it, and coming to a stop, say at a stop sign.
We returned it to our dealer, yesterday, and this what they found. Just though I'd pass it on to you, for problem shooting, and infor to ask a dealership.
This is the quote on the paper we have. "Customer states when filling up or at idle the can smell fuel in the passenger compartment. Smells like coming from the engine area. Leaking at fuel rail. Tightened valve and road test no leaks now".
We were told that it was a "schrader valve". There was NO CHARGE for this repair. So far it seems to be o.k.
The advise we were given was as follows:
1) NO HEET is needed in the fuel tank
2) No Sea Foam, or injector cleaner of any kind
REASON: Was told it would mess up gaskets, and seals etc. I'm not a mechanic, just passing the word that I was told.
I have a distinct coolant smell inside my Jeep (2009, 60k miles). I popped the hood and couldn't spot any leaks nor was there any fluid underneath the vehicle. I took it into a mechanic and they smelled the same thing and put the coolant system under pressure (as well as doing a visual inspection), and could not find any leaks nor was there any evidence of fluid by the vents. They also noted that my coolant levels were still full and I had not added anything to the car. The current theory is a pinhole leak in the heater core (the smell is definitely worse after the car has been driven a bit).
I have had one suggestion to add Bar's Stop Leak to the radiator, but the mechanic said this was a Bad Idea (his argument being that since there was no visible leak in the system it would likely just gum things up). Since the vehicle seems to be otherwise operating fine, I'm hesitant to replace the heater core, but there's a good chance it's still under warranty, so I could go that route.
So, could it be something other than the heater core? Should I have that replaced or would the Stop Leak be a good idea?
I have noticed on my 2013 F150 Eco that I have seem to always have a oil type smear. on the inside of my windshield. It is very hard to clean. Looks like the ones I would get when I smoked many years ago. My Boss has a 2011 F150 ECO and we have two others in our company. We were talking at work today and it seems all 4 trucks are having this problem.
View 14 RepliesOpened one of the rear doors on my crew cab and there must have been several gallons of water sloshing around inside the door. Shook the door a few times and water started draining out both corners of the door seam. After about an hour (I told you it was a lot of water) it seems to have stopped draining. Now I'm wondering how long this has been going on and what the inside of the door looks like by now.
View 6 RepliesIt is finally getting hot here in Texas and I turned my AC on Max the other day. It has a sound like there is something flapping around inside the duct work or something like that. Like a flag whipping in the wind. I tried feet, defrost open and closed loop etc and the noise is always there. It is really annoying when it is on high speed. Also, I did not notice the noise during the winter. Is there some where that leaves or something like that can get into that might cause this type of noise. The truck is a 2010 FX4.
View 3 RepliesThe only disappointment with the 2010 prius is the terrible chem smell inside the car,, after six months it hasn't changed... in fact it is B.S. and doesn't seem healthy even running with outside air.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2013 F-150 SCREW, I have an issue with my doors not unlocking with the remote and the inside door switch. It happens intermittently and not with the same doors.
View 1 RepliesSince most of us on this forum drive pick-up trucks, we're all accustomed to them riding, well, like a truck. We fully expect them to bounce around a little bit, right? However, one should not expect to be annoyed by noises inside the cab. For instance, my passenger seat bounces around like a baby's bouncy chair, even when the road is smooth. Surely, I'm not the only one noticing this! How do I shut-up my passenger seat???

I went out of town for 10 days and left my car parked. When I returned the inside of the call smells like a dead animal. I keep my car clean and do not eat in it. My husband checked all over including underneath to see if there was something dead. He found nothing. Yesterday, I had to turn on the defrost setting for the windows due to condensation in the car. This is not normal for my climate right now. We are 70 degrees with little to no humidity. The cabin filter was changed 6 months ago.
We have tried airing it out for a 2 days, spraying Ozium and other sprays, but the smell persists.
I own a 2011 lariat with 500 miles. We have had several days of rain and I am getting alot of rust spots on my driveway always below and inside the right front tire. None in the rear or left front. Dealer said not to worry about it after they looke at the area. They said it is the new metal forming surface rust. There is a skid plate which seems to cover wherever the rust is starting. Should I demand that area be undercoated.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a 2010 F150 with 5.4 and 6R80 transmission. According to records the trans fluid was changed only 1 time at 101,000 miles. Shift from 1-2 and 2-3 was a little sloppy, but really not too bad. Everything else shifts and downshifts nicely. It now has 227,000 miles, so I decided to pull the pan, look and see how much trash was in the pan and on the magnet. Very, very light film on the magnet, the fluid was brown colored, but no burnt smell at all. What concerned me was the fact that I drained out only 5 1/2 qts of fluid. Replaced the filter and added a drain plug to the pan for next time.
On the refill, I started with 5 qts but I ended up adding another 4 1/4 qts (1/2 qt at a time between checks) to fill the trans for a total of 9 1/4 qts. Of course, trans was at operating temp in park (Damn those catalytic converters and exhaust get hot!!) I even let it warm up and re-checked it the next day just to be sure it wasn't overfilled or low. No apparent leak except for a little dampness around the driveshaft yoke. Should I be concerned about taking so much to refill? Haven't had a chance to drive it (Will tomorrow) to make sure it drives OK.
I have a 2010 f150 supercrew 4x4 with 8.8 3:55 nls rear differential. my driver side tire has a wobble to it it is wearing the inside of the tire. i have replaced the driver axle shaft with new ford oem shaft put in new axle bearings and seals on both sides and have replaced the spyder gears and i still have the wobble I don't know what is going on. the wobble is more pronounced when the tire and rim are bolted to the shaft only without the drum and caliper attached. with caliper and rotor attached i still have the wobble just not as bad however the tire wobbles going down the road more noticeable between 20-45 mph.
View 13 RepliesI recently puchased a 2012 F-150 with the "ecoboost" engine. Recently I've been noticing an odor of what seems to be like rubber burning coming from the rear end of the truck.
It's very prominent when I stomp the gas pedal, with the traction control disabled especially. There's quite a bit of smoke coming from the rear, and the truck seems to over-accelerate for a V6. Should I take it to the dealer for repair?
I just picked up my new 2011 F150 SCrew with Ecoboost on friday (pictures soon). I noticed after driving it a little, there is a noticeable burning smell...almost like an oil smell. It is even more noticeable after I had been driving with a little more throttle.. i.e. getting the turbos working a little. I attribute this to the normal coatings of oils on the parts but it still is a little concerning at times. I'm sure I'm worried about nothing and this is normal...
View 14 RepliesAC used for the first time since purchasing the truck last Oct. I notice and passengers in truck with me as well notice that the AC is not strong at all and it fluctuates from cold to warm with a heavy damp smell almost like its letting fresh air in mixing with the cold AC. It seems to be doing this more so when driving but will also do it at at idle after driving. Of course dealership states perfect temp blowing @34 and Freon at perfect levels. Max AC will not blow you out of the truck and reg ac at lowest setting feels like its on a vent setting. When AC first comes out it smells very damp mildew smell. 2013 F-150 Limited 3.5.....
View 3 RepliesWhat are some pros/cons you have with yours? Both 5.4 supercabs xlt im looking at just cant decide. The 09 has a overall higher rating but its not to much more.
View 6 RepliesJust wanted to let know that the mildew smell i had in my '10 ISF was resolved with a simple spray into the a/c intake vents at the bottom of the windshield. Changing the cabin filter and lysol didnt do squat. its called "a/c treatment spray" available at Lexus or at the auto stores.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2014 RX 350. I have noticed an intermittent issue with exhaust smells coming into the cabin when the car is on recirculate and I am at highway speed. It happens when I am first accelerating after I've entered the freeway. If I get the odor, I can make it go away by briefly hitting the recirc/fresh button to bring in fresh air for a few moments. This doesn't happen driving around town.
