Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Front Door Speaker Cutting Out?
Nov 25, 2011
2010 F150 XLT ... Front driver side door speaker goes from working fine, to crackling, to cutting out. It`s been doing this since the day I bought it. I've had a local audio company tell me they have seen a few new Ford with that problem.

We all know the front door speakers on these are horrible. I am changing them out all the time under warranty for being blown. In doing so I decided it was time for a video on how to remove the door panel without damage to get at the speakers and swap in aftermarket etc.

The passenger front speaker on my 11 FX4 has been intermittent for a while. I replaced the door harness as described in TSB 12-11-4 but found the harness may not have been the cause. I have aftermarket speakers in my truck and installed them using Metra speaker harnesses. When pulling the old harness out, I found the connector for the speaker to be full of water. This is likely the issue with my truck but I wanted to share this observation with others who use these little harnesses. These connectors are not assembled using rubber grommets between the leads and the connector housings, which are necessary to make the connection weather/water tight.

Ford's Door Wiring Harness - Connection Side - Blue Seal
Now, I'm just passing this along in the event others are experiencing this issue and also have aftermarket speakers. Before hitting the dealer up for the TSB repair, check to see if you have the same issue as I found. But if you're running factory speakers and have intermittent speaker operation, hit up your dealer for the TSB repair.

I have the standard Audio (not Mark Levison) and want a little more mid and highs out of the side door speakers. I've already maxed out the audio settings for treble and the dash speakers are doing their job to my taste. I just think the side speakers can do just a bit more.
I don't want to replace the head unit, ad additional amplification, equalizer, nor any custom fabrication, at least just not yet. Thought starting with the door speakers would be a 1st step.
I'm presuming the FRONT door speakers are 6 1/2" (at least the mounting holes) so a common 6 1/2" aftermarket speaker would work. Just swap out. Correct? I'm thinking of something like the Infinity 6502ix co-axials with adjustable tweeters for all four doors.

I have a 99 navigator, the drivers side front speaker is cutting in and out like there's a loose wire. I cant seem to get the grill off to check it, do I have to take off the whole door panel? If so what is the best way to go about it?

So my right rear stock speaker in my 09 corolla has started to cut out. some days it works fine, others it's a mess. I've never cranked them so it shouldn't be damaged, in fact it sounds a lot like when a wire is a bit loose. How to fix it?

I have a buzzy, vibrating speaker in my right front door. Is the speaker itself shot or is it just loose? Or does the plastic door panel vibrate against the steel door. Placing my hand on the door doesn't seem to reduce noise ( 2010 Corolla )

I had two 12" subs running in my 09 corolla. The front right door speaker and little tweeter speaker stopped working so I took the subs out. I figured the speaker was blown so I ordered new ones. When I installed the new door speakers, they didn't work.
I know for a fact it is not the speaker that's faulty because I tried them on the driver- side door and they worked. So my passenger side door and tweeter speakers aren't working. Do I need to order a new tweeter speaker as well? Like does the tweeter need to be working for the door speaker to work? And vice-versa?

Can I swap doors from an XLT to an XL without a lot of trouble? Are the needed wires and connectors for the P/W, P/L and P/M in the main wiring harness under the dash? What possible problems will I run into?

I have a ecoboost with 80k on it. All of a sudden it started cutting out real bad while accelerating. If I punch the throttle it feels like the motor is trying to die. Could this be my fuel pump going out?

Both my rear doors in my 2010 F150 supercrew wont open from the outside. Was wondering, is there was a DIY fix?

We were coming home today from a 300 mile trip and we were heading into a 40mph head wind. Anyway we start to here a clicking sound in the driver's door like something is blowing around in there. It sounds like a piece of metal hitting on metal or like a small rock blowing around in there. Tick, tick, tick, it about drives me crazy. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow and hope it continues for them. Ever have that happen when something is going on with your vehicle and take it to the dealer and it doesn't do it. 2010 Lariat....

So, I'm still getting used to this 2012 F150 and have been experiencing issues with the driver's side speaker fading out for 5-10 seconds and then fading back in. I was getting worried that the radio was defective or something. Well, it is actually working as DESIGNED. Not that I like the design!
Okay, what is happening is that the NAV system periodically has something to say. Most frequently the message is "GPS Signal Lost". It appears that when the NAV system speaks it fades out the radio on the driver's side only, plays the message, and then fades the radio back in.
The volume on the NAV system app was turned ALL THE WAY DOWN so it was going through the motions of delivering a message, but no message was delivered since the volume was set at zero.
i just need to make it stop saying "You are over the speed limit!" all the time... Also, how to make it stop turning down the volume on my cell phone conversations when I put the truck in reverse? I back out of a parking space and have to ask the person I'm speaking to if they are still there???

Picked up my new ride yesterday, 2012 F-150 STX tuxedo black, supercab
4x4, 3.55 e-locker, 5.0l. It is one nice ride but it already has a blown speaker rear drivers side which is frustrating, I see this is a common issue with these trucks. Just hope it is not a recurring thing. But still a great truck.

Taking this part out of their truck, my speaker is cracking bad at low volume, thinking maybe I can play with the wires some.
Just wondering if there is any clips on this part, before I knock off a six pack and go caveman on it.

2012 F-150 5.0 Rough Idle Upon Start up - YouTube
Whenever I first start my 2012 F-150 with the 5.0, it idles rough and if I step on the gas it acts like either an injector is cutting in and out or it's missing. It doesn't really seem like a miss though, more like an injector/fuel issue. What it could be. If I let it sit and idle it won't go away unless I step on the gas and get it > 2500rpm or so.

The 6 button powercode remote start and alarm will shut the engine down if you open the door after remote starting.
Here is the fix, I found it somewhere else. It's nice doing stuff yourself that the dealer tells you it cant be done.
open the drivers door
turn on the ignition
hold the program/override button for 15 sec (horn will chirp 3 times)
press the override button again horn will chirp 4 times
" " horn will chirp 5 times
" " horn will chirp 6 times
" " horn will chirp 7 times
" " horn will chirp 8 times letting you know you are in option bank 5.
press the panic button on the fob horn will chirp once
" " chirp twice
" " chirp three times
" " chirp 4 times
" " chirp 5 times
press the lock button on the fob once...your led alarm light will now be off.
Turn off the ignition
you are done
Enjoy
Activate the remote start open the door(smile) just don't press the brake before you put key in ignition and turn.
