I changed out the bad bulb for a new 194 LED bulb and it still doesn't work. So it leads me to believe its a bad fuse. I'm looking at my Manual and no where do I see the fuse location for the Shifter light. The light that lights of the shifter so you can see if your in Drive or Reverse or etc... I have a 2004 Ford F150 Supercrew.
View 4 RepliesI just got a 2004 f-150 STX 4x4. It has floor shifter for the 4 wheel drive. I can shift it into 4x4 low and that light will come on but I can not get it to go into 4x4 hi when I try to slide the shifter in place the light will flash on but I can not keep it on. Am I doing something wrong?

Someone had posted that they had gotten a replacement from their dealer. I went to my dealer and all he would sell me was THE WHOLE SHIFT UNIT. All I need is to pop the little cap on top of the shifter, not replace the entire unit.
What I was wondering is if you have gotten just the cap from your dealer, what might the part number be so I can get one.
I can't get my shifter to move out of park. I took it in and they replaced the brake switch and although that seemed to fix it it started up again after a week of use. Now I'm stuck in my driveway. What's causing this?
View 13 RepliesI have a 2006 f150 fx4 4x4. I drove it home from work yesterday and it ran and drove just fine. I got up this morning to go to work and turn the key but the engine won't fire. I turns over just fine. I turn the key to release the trans to put it in neutral to see if it would start like that and the shifter is stuck. I button in the front will not go in. I tried lifting the rear tires off the ground to see if I could free the trans.

View 6 Replies2008 F150 Super crew 5.4 v8, bone stock. The truck was acting up with a rough idle and slight miss when in gear at a stop 2 weeks ago, loss of power going uphill. Changed fuel filter and filled up with premium and a can of sea foam. The truck straightened up after that, so I thought. Last Friday it dies in the road, cranks, but no fire.
Has to be the engine, had it towed to the local dealer and they get to look at it Monday afternoon, said the transmission fuse was blown and it keeps blowing new ones, it's in the transmission wiring. I am used to older trucks and was blown away transmission wiring will shut the truck down. I would think the wiring harness to the transmission would be simple enough to check out, can the wiring or solenoids in the tranny cause this?
I own a 2004 F150 Screw Lariat and the fuse # 41 keep blowing. This fuse goes to the cigar lighter and the Diagnostic connector power. As soon as I put the fuse in, it sparks and blows. I have even tried different sizes.

I've gone as far as to -removed- the fuse box to inspect wires wrapped together behind it, and nothing.
Most threads talk about orange wires with a green stripe meeting in a corroded splice. I can only find one orange wire with a green stripe, no splice found on it yet. Other splices (like on white wires with blue stripe)look very good, no trace of corrosion at all!
I know fuse #3 powers the mirrors, but it is impossible to visually trace which wires it is connected to, even with the fuse box in my hands... I guess tomorrow I will probe all the contacts for connection to fuse #3...?
I have a 2004 Lariat 4x4 with a no start condition. I had lights, but it wouldn't crank. I then discovered that it would not shift out of park. Turns out that it had a blown fuse. I did not have any of that type (the funky square 20a fuses) so I pulled the heated seats fuse (30a) and threw it in there, tried to start it and blew it right away. Is there a common short to look for on these? I believe that the guy that owned it before me had a satellite radio in it, and could it be a bare wire from that setup possibly blowing the fuse?Just trying to get a head start on tracking down the short.

View 6 RepliesThis is very weird. A strange noise occurs intermittently. It sort of sounds like a pulley slipping on a steel shaft briefly followed by a brief rattling noise and may or may not blow out fuse number 14 (A/C Pressure switch, backup lamp and daytime running lights, redundant speed control heated pcv, ABS, Reverse park aid, EC Mirror), then the brake light and the ABS light is displayed and the cruise control quits working. It does not ALWAYS blow out the fuse as I discovered yesterday.
The first time it happened (about three months ago) I was doing 75 when it happened and was unable to figure out what it was. Yesterday it happened and I new it was fuse number 14. I replaced the fuse and it happened again within 3 minutes. It may be when I turn the wheel to the left. The first time it happened I was changing lanes, yesterday when it happened I was on a ramp turning to the left. In the driveway it happened as a backed up and turned the wheel to the left. I cannot identify where the noise comes from. After the noise and the blown fuse the truck runs just fine and I can continue to drive.
Within three days the alternator and fuse #23 blew. After replacing these and the fuel filter (because of stalling during acceleration), I took it for a diagnostic check at O'Reileys because the stalling while accelerating worsened, it wasn't shifting correctly and the O/D light began flashing on the shifter. It hit on these 13 error codes:

I have researched each code (definitions, what to examine/test, and the locaton of each part). My question is that with this many hits is it most likely a problem with the PCM, or should I just proceed with checking each connection, wiring and solenoid individually? The EGR Valve tested fine and the alternator is pushing 14.6 v...
As the title states I have a 2001 f250 with the 5.4 4x4 and lately the auto headlight / overdrive fuse keeps blowing. Both seem to function just fine but a couple of days later the fuse will be blown. I am not functioning the OD button when it blows so I'm guessing its something with the headlights. What else does that fuse protect?

View 3 RepliesI had a question about the light in the gear box/shifter on the dash. Mine seems to work occasionally. Sometimes when I shift into a D or B it'll pop on. Lately it's stopped, I was thinking maybe I have a short in it or it needs to be replaced.
Upon searching through the forums it appears I'd have to replace the whole shift mechanism, is this correct?
