Okay so my 04 f150 has all of a sudden decided to stop showing the compass and odometer. At first they started to blink then it went out.

View 7 RepliesI've read through my manual, but can't find anything on how to actually lock the odometer at zero when I don't need it. Trip A is set to my oil change mileage and I just want Trip B to be off or at zero. 2012 F150 XL SBRC, 5.0 V8 4x4, 3.55 gears....
View 8 RepliesI have a 1997 f150 4.6L 4x4 Standard Transmission and today I hopped in it to go to work, and the Speedo, Trip Odometer, and Odometer all are not working.
This is the first time it has happened to me, what could cause this or have a problem similar to this and know how to fix it?
I'd heard that the new Prius V would give you stats on your latest trip. I see where it will tell you how long you've driven, but I was under the impression that it also did your MPG for the latest trip too?
Also, my 2008 would automatically reset the trip odo upon fill up. Not the tripA or tripB odo's, but the one on the consumption screen. Does the new one do something similar? I new at every fill up that I would reset the MPG's for that tank whenever the miles reset. I can't find an analog to that in the new screens.
How are people calculating MPG's per tank, computer wise?
I had less than half a tank and went to fill up before a long drive. At the gas station, the pump wouldn't let me put any gas in the tank , it kept clicking stop. I gave up and was going to try again later, however when I turned my car back on, it said I had a full tank all of a sudden.
The gauge on my dashboard isn't going down at the right speed either.
So I just replaced the stock head unit in my 2005 ford f150 with a brand new Sony one. Install went pretty smooth and I had every thing working pretty quick. So about an hour after the install I got in my truck to drive home and everything was working fine until about 5 minutes into driving all the door speakers just stopped working.
(Music was not blaring). Sub still works but that's it. No sound from the door speakers what so ever. I checked the fuse and the head unit. And all the fuses related to audio in the fuse box. Everything looks normal. Head unit powers on fine. Just no sound from any door speakers. The only thing that plays sound is the sub.
My new to me 96 4x2 4.0 automatic Explorer has a working speedometer, but the odometer, and trip meeter are not working. I used the search, but found nothing. What should I be looking for to fix this problem?
View 3 RepliesI just noticed that the odometer and trip meter have stopped working. What is involved in the repair?
View 6 Replies I have a 2005 Sport trac, just recently, I started my truck and my check engine light was on and my trip counter and odometer went blank, not off, just dashes going across the panel. I recall noticing that my rpms were a little high. I turned off the truck and restarted and after a few minutes it came back to normal. Check engine light went off and my miles were displayed again.
A few days later, it happened again, except this time the rpms were normal, just the dashes and check engine light. I happened to have an obd II with me and I immediately scanned it for any codes. NONE. Few minutes later, back to normal. Scanned again, NOTHING. Its been happening more frequently now, every time i turn on the truck when its been sitting for a while. Like I said, it takes about 3 minutes or so and it goes away. Nothing unusual happens during this time. Motor sounds fine and runs smooth.
A friend who is a mechanic told me that it could be a ground cable for the COIL? that could be loose or damaged? He said its more than likely a ground because it happens when its cold and takes time to warm up and goes away. That if it was a hot it would happen all the time. I have searched online for something similar and have found similar problems but no exact match. I just changed the motor about a week ago. I had problems with the timing chain and broken oil pump.
Due to the amount of damage, cost and time to repair and amount of miles on the truck (180K) I decided id be better off putting in a new(used) motor with 67K miles in half the time for labor. I dont think this makes a difference though, because the first incident happened about a week before the truck broke down and the second about two days before. So Im guessing that the change of motor has nothing to do with it.
I believe that the odometer MPG applies to "when the hybrid engine is started." I turn the car on, and the odometer MPG is at 0.0
I flip to "Trip A", and reset it. Now the Trip A MPG is 0.
I have a 2012 ecoboost, recently I went to the trip gauge mode and the display screen for trip A had a yellow rectangle imposed over the time, mpg ect.and would not function correctly. When I switch to trip B info, all info operated correctly and no yellow rectangle in trip B mode. Trip A mode continues be inoperable and still has the yellow rectangle even after the engine was shut off several times during the day.
View 3 RepliesIf you remove the battery contact (effectively removing power to the car) does the trip odometer reset? Just wondering, as I plan on doing a relay install for my HID setup.
View 2 RepliesI got me new accent 2011 but my odo doesn't display the computer trip that display the mileage and shift indicator and other stuff only show the km and trip....
View 3 RepliesEvery once in awhile my car "resets." When I turn the key to the off position, my clock and trip odometer resets to 12:00 and 0.0mi and my radar detector shows a warning of low voltage.. I looked at all the fuses, and they are all good. And it seems to be intermittent.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 Mini Cooper I bought a year and a half ago. The last couple of months when I shut my car off I sometimes hear a buzz sound near the center console and my trip odometer resets to zero, and my LED clock resets to 12 Midnight. Sometimes it happens when you open the door after turning the car off. In the Mini's there is a feature that the windows automatically lower a 1/4 inch when you open the doors, allowing air to escape when you shut the door after exiting. When this happens, sometimes that triggers the "buzz" sound and the reset thing happens. This doesn't seem to effect anything else, its just bothersome because I keep track of my miles with the trip odemeter, and I have to keep correcting the clock. Oh Yeah! one more thing that happens, when i am using the Air Conditioner and slow down after full speed, there is what I would describe as a power surge. All the dash lights go off for a split second then come back on.
View 1 RepliesThree things happened with my Phaeton today.
First, when I pulled out of the driveway, there was an "achy" should as I turned the steering wheel. I sound like it coming from under the hood in the area of the steering mechanisms. I am hoping it just might be low power steering fluid?
Second, my engine warning light (amber) came on after going through a car wash. Everything seems to run fine, so I plan to just wait and see if it turns itself off again.
Last - and only as an irritation - I noted that my trip odometer on the front dash display won't reset when I go into the console "trip data" and press reset. Am I doing something wrong?
This is regarding a 2008 F150 - STX. The light that illuminates the odometer is out. I saw the procedure to get to it on Alldata and it looks pretty easy. Next I went to the bulb chart in the user's manual and it said, for any instrument lamp replacement, see the dealer.
I called my local dealer and he said that they were some special kind of bulb but that he was out of stock. I know they can usually get these things quickly but I figured that auto parts stores would have them. It appears I was wrong. I looked on Autozone's web p-age and they show every bulb.... except instrument panel bulbs.
It appears the odometer backlight problem has been around for a long time, aon many models. 2007 f150 Supercrew? Just had the engine replaced under warrenty at 35600 miles. Just as soon as I get 50 miles out of warranty the the odometer light goes out.
View 14 RepliesMy Odometer will not show me my miles any more , I have my mph but not the miles any more . I was wondering if I can just get a new Odometer or if I should take it to someone to fix or is thus something I can do. I work on Rv all day so I do understand most but electrical is my weak link...
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 F-150 S/Crew and I seem to have the same intermittant odometer problem as many of the folks in that 1999-2003 group. The odometer comes and goes, flashes intermittantly and sometimes doesn't work for days.
Can it be repaired in the same fashion as those older units? The dealer is more than willing to sell me a new cluster (obviously). They say that there is "no way to possibly repair those odometer problems and we see them all the time."

Odometer display quit on me. This is the co.pass and temp as well. I have also noticed that when I come to a complete stop and then take off a again, the auto lock feature activates like I had put it in park and then back to drive. Thinking I could have an electrical issue here.
