Coming home from work tonight, Radio turned down, Air off/Heat off. Whats the sound coming from the dash around the radio/heater controls/ vents? Can't really explain the noise, but its like a boiling/clicking/scratching noise.
View 14 RepliesMy ex-wife has a 2008 Prius. When trying to get heat, either using Auto A/C or manual, the display panel shows that only the floor vents are open. However, forced air is flowing from the upper vents on the dash. The air from these vents is not warmed. It seems to be unheated outside air. It's unclear whether this is a new problem, since the owner doesn't know if this behavior has been there since she bought the car. She does report that the car has always taken a long time to get comfortable in winter.

View 6 RepliesTo kick off the coldest week (so far) of the winter season, I noticed a problem with the heater controls in my 06 Explorer with manual temp. controls. No matter which fan settings I select (defrost, panel+floor, etc), air does not blow through some of the vents. I can hear the fan working and air flows through the defrost vents and through the floor vents, but the there is no airflow through the vents below radio and round vents on the far left and far right sides of the dashboard.
Perhaps related to this problem, a couple months ago I replaced the blower motor resistor because fan speeds 1 and 2 did not work, only 3 and 4 worked, so whenever I would turn on the heat or A/C, it was on full blast all the time. After replacing the resistor, the issue was resolved and all of the speeds worked well. I guess I just never realized the issue with the vents, or maybe the problem happened because I replaced the resistor?
Since I'm not too knowledgeable with the climate control circuit, I'm not too sure where to begin, perhaps the switch or blower motor?
No matter where I put the selector it blows out the floor, the defrosters and the air cond vents, which I have to keep closed. It doesn't switch the air flow anymore. What gives?

View 14 RepliesI'm going to need to install a Nokia Bluetooth car kit on my MkVI in the summer at latest and was wondering how to get the radio and AC controls out to do it.
Radio naturally needs to come out to connect the kit to it (or its power cables anyway), but I was thinking of installing the kit's control unit under the AC controls, to the side of the center console on the inside of it.
I guess the control unit's wire would then go into the dash from between the AC control panel and the center console somewhere. That was my plan anyway.
My truck was fine yesterday morning, but when I got in it after work, nothing worked. The power windows, radio, ac, gauges all stopped working. Everything else does - power seat, wipers, turn signals....etc. What is going on?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry SE-V6 and recently noticed my heater is not working properly. The fan dial works fine and I can adjust the speed of the fan no problem. When I adjust from the defroster, to the feet, to the face etc.. I don't hear that noise I usually hear of the system opening or closing the appropriate vents in behind the dash - all I hear is the fan blower going - as though it's just blowing on my windshield but no air seems to be coming in any of the vents (ie. if I put the dial to the face and the fan speed on high, no air comes out the vents).
If I adjust the temperature, I can feel heat is there vs. cold but since no air is blowing out (all I hear is the blower fan going), I don't get any heat in the cabin. Is this a fuse problem or something more serious? I have about 70,000km so I'm out warranty of course....
Would the control on dash cause there to be no air coming out heater vents on floor. I can hear the blower very loudly in dash about in the middle air comes out dash vents and out defroster ducts. When you switch to heater you get blower noise but very little air coming out floor vents.is it the control or possibly a vacuum mother on a vent somewhere
View 3 RepliesI have a 86 f250 with rebuilt 302, new radiator, new hoses and heater core. I know the cold to hot selector works to open the door. now the ac works great although my heat is not working properly. I can put the defroster on with heat and the blower in the engine compartment comes on like normal. Now the problem is that we i put it on heat the blower in the cab does not blow air through any vents. I just purchased this vehicle and not really sure how everything works.
Funny thing also when the ac is on i turn the blower on low and its really high then the high is really low (its like to switch is working backwards) not sure if that has anything to do with it. Then when I was looking in the engine compartment i noticed the wiring harness has a plug going to the blower, then one plug to what looks like a heat strip of some sort, then someone took two oranges wires and wire nutted together to get the engine compartment blower to work. So now I'm wondering if I am missing something there??? Here's a pic of the engine compartment.......
I have a 08 F150 king ranch and have a couple of issues. There is a strange sound coming from the dash behind the gauges it sounds like a computer hard drive clicking and the heater seems to be stuck on will not even blow outside fresh air.

View 8 RepliesMy car had the smell of antifreeze coming from the vents, but it goes away when I use the "recirculating" button. Do u think it's the heater core? I hope not though. Also how much is the coolant suppose to be filled up too? Mine filled up a lot more then half the reservoir.
View 2 RepliesI have an extreme burning smell coming from my heater whenever it is on, curious I put the fan on cold and it still has the burning smell. I pulled over and got out of the car he popped the hood and I don't smell anything underneath the hood. I've been leaving it off because I don't want anything blowup on me... It is a 98 chrysler sebring convertible, and the low and medium don't work on it, it only turns on on high....
View 9 RepliesMy 2005 F150 has developed an intermittent high pitch electronic tone that seems to be coming from the dash. Sometimes it comes on for a few seconds. Sometimes for several minutes. It never varies in pitch. It will occur even if the radio and fans are turned off. It will also occur if the engine is off and the key is just in the accessory position.

Anyways, the AC doesn't blow any hot air... always just cold. I've adjusted the dial to red and have left it there for a long time... no hot air. Any trouble shooting I can do?
When you turn the interior ac temperature from cool to warm there is a loud knocking noise coming from under the dash. I am new to working on explorers but it seem like its coming from the black box nearest the firewall above the transmission tunnel. When you turn it to cold the noise almost completely goes away. The noise gets even louder when you mess with the selector for "max ac" "head and feet" "feet" etc.
