I just bought a 08 Screw with the 5.4 3 valve, 4x4 with the 373 gears, and 25,000 miles on it. I love the truck, but what is the best that you have gotten for mileage on your trucks with the 373 gears? Does it do better at 75 mph or 55? I haven't checked mine yet so I am wondering what to expect...
View 8 RepliesWe picked up our 2009 prius about a month ago from a local dealer. At the time it was getting about 52 miles per gallon. Since then, we have driven about 1000 miles and now we are getting only about 41 miles per gallon. Are we doing something wrong that made the MPG drop over 10 miles per gallon.
View 6 RepliesRecently, my 2006 has been showing a decline in MPGs. I purchased a K&N filter several months ago hoping that it would work in getting better MPGs. I also watch my tire's air pressure, but the MPGs still fall off. I used to get around 43mpg in town and 45 to 47 on the highway. Now, I'm lucky to get 39mpg no matter where I'm driving.
I've been thinking of changing the spark plugs since I'm sort of grasping at straws. Also, someone told me that the older the battery pack (NHW20) gets the less MPGs I can expect. Maybe true maybe not! My Prius has a little over 60,000 miles on it and it shouldn't be loosing MPGs.
My 2007 (with Nav package and aftermarket Sirius radio) recently started losing channel settings on the Sirius (not on the FM radio!), the dash clock resets, and, recently, the miles-per-gallon and miles driven since last fill-up reset to zero. These events are sporadic, but have started occurring more often. The dealer seems unable to figure out the problem.
View 8 RepliesSo, I've now had my 2015 F250 6.7 Diesel for about 2 weeks and I just turned over 1000 miles (damn I love driving this truck). And, I'm dying to find out if my mpg experience coincides with any other truck. With no load I am consistently getting right at 22.5 mpg at 70 miles per hour. With all in town driving and no load I'm holding right at 15 mpg. And I've noticed something else that seems odd. I'm actually getting a little worse mileage at 60 and 65 than I do at 70 miles per hour. What is going on there? Do these engines get a little better mileage as they get more miles on them?

View 11 RepliesI bought a 2012 Prius new and averaged just under 53 miles per gallon for the first 15,000 miles regularly. I have a long commute so my driving mix of city/highway is pretty consistent. When starting the car one morning there was a fairly loud series of clicking sounds from the engine compartment, which then stopped. From that point forward the mileage has dropped to just under 50 mpg. Same driving habits. I am bringing the car if for it's 20,000 mile check up shortly. Any ideas if something happened to the battery I should ask about? It is still under warranty.

View 3 RepliesIt has been a long time since I have owned a Ford truck and recently got a good deal on a 2004 Reg. Cab 4x4 (4.6L). It only has 58K miles and still looks, drives and smells like new. I have just noticed that the Rear end gears whine very loudly at 45 mph. It is quite everywhere else accept a little hum at 60mph. No other issues with the truck and perhaps, this is just normal on these newer fords.
View 7 RepliesToday I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph and my truck seemed like it popped out of gear...no loud noise or anything. I was able to coast off the off ramp and my truck was still running but sounded a little odd when I revved it. No gears work and when i revved it in gear it sounded like something loose in the bell housing area maybe. After I turned it off I was not able to restart it, sounded like the starter was just free spinning. Flywheel maybe?

View 14 RepliesI picked up my 2005 F150 4x4 last winter. It has 135k miles & a slight tranny problem.
When cruising around 45 mph - right between where it wants to be in top gear or not - if I slightly accelerate the trans BANGS between the two gears.
I mean repeatedly bangs - it is not a smooth shift where it can't decide which gear to use - it is a hard BANG where it can't decide which gear to be in.
What gives? I can usually stop it if I turn on the towing button - shutting off high gear.
2005 f-150 4.6l v8 rough idle only when truck is to normal operating temp. I have run several gas system cleaners through the truck. I replaced the air filter, the fuel filter and the spark plugs. I am only getting 14to 15 mpg mostly highway. No DTC's are showing up. The truck only has 50,000 miles.
View 6 Replies I finally upgraded from my 1998 F150 5.4 to a 2008 F150 Lariat supercrew 4x4 5.4 3v with 83k miles. I've had the truck about a week and have already noticed an issue. During light to moderate acceleration, I notice a slight hiccup in the 30-40 mph range. This "hiccup" is best described as a quarter second dead spot in the throttle. At times, I have noticed an additional hiccup between 20-30 mph that does the same thing. Occasionally, I will also feel a slight vibration on take off. It's important to note that if I accelerate at a quicker pace or really get on it, I can't feel the issue. I have also had a tough time replicating the issue when I deactivated overdrive. Not to say it wouldn't do it, but I really couldn't tell if it was doing it. Also, I've noticed that when I really get on it, It takes maybe a second to catch before accelerating. (From what I've read, that's common for 5.4s though, just thought I'd note it)
I have had spark plug and coil pack issues out of my 1998 model, but they felt different than what this truck is doing. Is it possible that this is the same issue but is manifesting itself differently? I briefly spoke with my mechanic and he seems to think it sounds like a torque converter issue. He checked for codes and none were showing or pending in the computer. Transmission shifts good. Fluid is a pinkish orange color, and there are no metal shavings on the oil dipstick. I started to notice the truck would sometimes shift a little hard into 4th. I took the truck by my mechanic and he rode with me. I was able to replicate the original issue. He told me it felt like something in the transmission. He said that my fluid smelled a little burned to him, but it was still a pinkish orange color. He said he would service the transmission and adjust the bands. The truck has 83k miles so I'm not too worried about a major transmission problem. He said he was fairly certain the servicing would correct the issue. I'm also going to have him put a new set of coils and plugs on as well. Am I missing anything?
I've searched around for a specific list of scheduled maintenance past the 150k mile mark but couldn't find a complete or a definitive list really. As you know, Ford's list stops at 150k. So, I have an 04 XLT Screw at 162K that runs like a charm.
View 1 RepliesI've got a check engine light on but the truck runs fine. I checked the fluid levels everything seemed normal. Any special trick that I could try to reset this check engine light myself? It's got the 4.6 L, Stock no mods, been keeping the regular service intervals at the dealership.
View 8 RepliesMy ABS light resets itself when I leave the truck, but when I go down the road later, after a few miles it lights up until I turn the engine off again. It's a 2008 Lariat Super Crew 60 K miles. I've searched and seen only a few posts related to the ABS. One item I've seen mentioned is a sensor on the rear differential. What other parts are in the ABS system that may cause a light to come on. How to troubleshoot the system would be great, too.
View 1 RepliesThere was a time Ford when used a nylon toothed timing chain gear on the camshaft. Over time this got brittle and started to break into pieces. The rule of thumb at our household was to change these at about 100k miles.
I think that was a "302" thing and all "5.0" engines have all metal gears? I have no reason to open up our '99 Explorer's 5.0 with 180,000 miles. But, I will change the timing chain if it should be done.
At a loss right now. My 2004 F150 4X4 and just recently started sounding like the truck is trying to shift into 4X4 mode while driving it. It stops if it's switched into 4X4. I have taken it to a local mechanic shop I use and they said it was the Actuators and they replaced those. I got it back and the same day the noise came back. Took it back and they have had it for another week and still unable to figure it out. I even took it to another shop that was highly recommended and they say to take it to a Ford dealership. I have read that some say it could be the vacuum operated hubs? Need to figure out what it was and had it fixed?
View 1 RepliesI am a new Prius owner. I just purchased a 2008 with 27k miles yesterday, and last night I got the "red triangle of death". My car is currently back at the dealership after a very expensive tow. I only got to drive it for about 4 hours.
Before the break down, I was extremely excited to finally have a Prius, and was really happy with my purchase. I'm still excited about having the car, but I'm also highly disappointed that it broke down the day I bought it! I sure hope this isn't a sign to come! I see that most people love their cars, and I've read that they consistently get high dependability ratings.
See the video about my prius. its 2008 with 59k miles . It wont start anymore, I tried to jump without and with the trunk battery but nothing happens, it goes in park but it wont go to reverse or drive.
