Original owner 2004 f150 4wd 4.6 ... Switching in and out of 4wd electronic no hubs. There is a light clicking noise when I shift out of 4wd , then when I go back to 4wd the noise stops......it seems like its not going out all the way. Is there something to lube ??I would hate to think something is grinding to hell....it sounds like a card in spokes a light purring. Bad weather heading this way.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 RX350. When i shut off the engine and pull the key out i hear a constant clicking sound. I dont really know where its coming from but i can kind of pin point it maybe to the windows or door i'm not too sure. I also notice the interior light flickering to the same pattern as the clicking noise.
Second problem - in the middle of the night the alarm goes off! Its the alarm without the horn noise. For some reason i cant switch it off with the fob key. No matter what i do i cant switch it off. So it goes on for about 20 seconds and stops. I just leave the car unlocked after that and it doesnt come back. The alarm noise is coming from the boot....
Third problem Now the navigation screen flickers. Blacks out then the lexus emblem appears then switches back on itself.
When I am driving and i go to stomp on the gas my truck feels like there is no power and makes this funny clicking noise and goes no where.
NOTE : Literally just replaced plugs and coils with success. 105k miles, Oil change 2 weeks ago
2007 F150 lariat super crew 4x4, 5.4 v8 w/ 3 valve
2005 F150 Lariat package with 63,000 miles. Ok... thought I had a cat crawl up in thew engine to stay warm...but alas no cat found. Got off of work and headed home, clicking/rattling noise from the front passenger side dash, then a whirring noise followed shortly there after by a dull thud (hence the cat scenario). Happened twice on the way home (~15miles) ...
View 1 RepliesI recently purchased as used 2006 F-150 Lariat 4x4 with 77K miles. I am having an issue with the shift on the fly, I had a vacuum leak that was causing the auto hubs to make noise on occasion but it has never allowed me to shift from 2wd to 4H while moving. I have replaced the IWE solenoid and repaired the vacuum leak but it still will not engage while moving. The light for 4H comes on but the hubs will not engage. The dealer where I purchased the vehicle is not a ford dealership and whey have been trying to solve the problem but to no avail.
View 3 RepliesEverything about my '08 2.7l Santa Fe seems/drives fine, but it always has a light clicking noise when idling and maybe even at higher revs. Is a little bit of this clicking normal or does the valve clearance need to be inspected and/or adjusted?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius with the platinum 7 yr/100K warranty. The brakes are making a creaking/clicking noise when pressed. It only happens when the car is coming to a stop. If you start the car and sit there and press the brake pedal it doesn’t make the noise. Only when the car is in motion and coming to a stop. I took it to the dealer and they said the brake lever/shaft needs to be lubricated. It is only heard on the inside of the vehicle and doesn’t seem to affect the brake performance.
They said it would not be covered under warranty since it was a lubricating job and not a mechanical problem. They said they would have to take apart the whole dash to get to that part to lubricate it. It would be covered only if the part has failed or broken. They called Toyota to approve the fix, but it was denied. It is just annoying to hear the creaking noise every time I come to a stop. I am supposed to pick up the car tomorrow since they are replacing some other items. I asked for a parts diagram of what part needs to be lubricated to see if I can get to it. I have to take part of the dash apart to install my LockPick and XM radio.
I have the mods listed below in my signature. When I shift gear and have almost completely released the clutch to move up into the next gear I get a clicking noise and feel from my transmission I think or maybe differential. This is with traction control off and is only noticeable at lower rpms like a low rpm shift from 1st into second.
View 7 RepliesI have 2005 F150 XLT 5.4 litre engine and my battery light comes on after letting the truck run on idle or sometimes driving.
Last Saturday went out drove it heater on and radio on I smelled something coming from the heater kinda like burning wire smell didn't think anything of it no smoke from heater (indicating the core was bad) no lights on the cluster nothing; went into the bank let it run came back out my battery light on. Drove it home and while driving the light goes off.
Opened the hood and the smell was coming from the alternator. So I turned the truck off. Let it sit for an hour or so then I took my voltmeter to see if the battery was good. The battery was 12.4v with engine off. Checked my battery connection for corrosion or loose connections everything was tight there was some dust on the battery terminals so I brushed them off. I checked the battery cable that goes from positive to the alternator where it connects to the alternator with that nut it was good, clean and tight.
So I started the engine up and I can hear a whining noise from one of the pulleys. Let it idle for 2 minutes no battery light so I put my voltmeter on the battery it read 13.8v, so I turned on the A/C, head lights, radio and the heater tried again the voltage dropped down to 11.9v then the battery light came back on. Also through all this my battery gauge in the cluster always stays a half way mark doesn't drop or go high. Next with the engine turned off I took the belt off checked the pulleys the idler pulleys seem fine and the belt doesn't show any glazing but the alternator was hot almost like touching a hot exhaust manifold.
So for the last 3 days I have been trying to come up with how to resolve this issue obviously it could be the alternator going bad but the battery has never lost a charge yet I let the truck sit for these past 3 days and today I started the truck and it started right up I don't see any dimming lights except it has a whining noise and the battery light didn't come on immediately I let it run for 5-10 minutes before it came on; I even drove it around the block and the whining noise gets louder every time I step on the gas. To me it's either I need new alternator, tension pulley is bad or the idler pulleys are bad but they turn fine.
Have a trusty 05 stx 4.6 4x4 automatic 44,000 orig. miles/owner ext cab pick up. Just lately I thought I picked up at tree branch or something make a noise very similar to pulling a hung up branch or something.. Stopped, looked under truck (everywhere) no dice! Then did some research.. Noise went away when not giving it gas or gliding in nuetral just when light or heavy accelerating! Where do I begin??
View 7 RepliesI found today that when I depress and release the brake while my car is in park, there is a clicking sound coming from the gear shift. It only occurs in park and other works fine. I have done some research and some say that it is the solenoid in the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock.
if this is the case? If it is, is this something that I should get fixed and could fix myself? I am fine with the clicking, I just don't want to not be able to shift the car into and out of park.
I bought a 2004 heritage V6 Transmission was bad my father in law rebuilt it (he is a retired Ford Transmission guy) in drive it will not shift out of low if you take off in 2nd it will shift out of low on a rare occasion the OD light on the shifter will start blinking and it will shift fine?
View 2 RepliesFirst time owning a VW (Nissan guy but got love for the VW). So I am having 3 issues
1. This is the major issue. My battery is not charging. I have replaced both Alternator and Battery so i know the issue isnt there. I took it to an import shop (I can't diagnose electrical issues to save my life) they told me the positive terminal cable needs to be swapped out. Before I put down money for the part and swap it out I wanted to know if this sounds correct (or at least like a possible solution)
2. While driving the turn signal clicking sound will randomly come on from 5 seconds - 2 mins and then turn off. Some days its worse some days it's not.
3. I think this is a solenoid issue but maybe I am wrong. For about a week the car would not shift to the next gear unless RPM's hit 6k. I mean I would have to floor it to get the thing to shift to the next gear. It shifts down fine. I haven't had the issue in a few weeks but I would rather take care of it if possible.
These are all electrical issues and it would be awesome if they all were related but i'm honestly only concerned about the first one as I can deal with the annoyance of the second 2. This is my first VW and so far me and my family love it.
I have an 08 escape v-6 fwd. i recently started hearing a clicking noise in the steering column. Seems to be getting worse and more noticeable. Front end seems normal. This clicking seems to be coming from right under the steering column cover near the turn signal area.
View 4 RepliesI am 98% sure my 17" chrome clad wheels are making a clicking or ticking sound as I drive. I took off the plastic center cap and the noise changed.. it's less than constant now.
View 3 Replies2005 FX4 truck. Doesn't click when going straight, but if turning wheel like turning into or out of a parking spot, it makes a clicking noise that gets faster as you get faster. It sounds almost like a baseball card in a bicycle spoke honestly. Don't know if its related, but about 3 months before i noticed the sound I had the Rancho quick lift struts installed on the truck. Somebody told me it could be wheel bearings but in my experience a wheel bearing will make a roaring noise, and it would roar while going straight down the road. This is only when turning the wheels. Also, it doesn't matter if you turn left or right, you can hear it both directions.

Recently I got a flashing 'Check Engine' light and a rough running engine (along with a tapping noise) when I was passing someone (and pulling a trailer). I retrieved codes 300, 304, & 305. I can't swear to it, but I think the tapping noise started at the same time as the coil problem.
I replaced coils #4 & #5 (later that same day) and the engine smoothed back out but the tapping noise is still hanging around. The noise speeds up at higher RPM's and doesn't go away if I shift into neutral. Oil level and pressure are fine and I only use Motorcraft 5W-20 and Motorcraft filters (and change the oil every 5K miles).
Not sure if this is relevant: I think I have bad valve guide seals (blue smoke after long idles) but no other problems that I am aware of. It sort of sounds like a lifter, but is there a good way to pin it down? Is it possible that this tapping is related to the bad coils?
I have an 05 f150 5.4 and when it shifts into overdrive the whole truck starts jerking, if I turn overdrive off it shifts and runs smooth through all other gears. When it does start jerking if i give it gas and speed up it stops and runs smooth?

I have a 08 F150 king ranch and have a couple of issues. There is a strange sound coming from the dash behind the gauges it sounds like a computer hard drive clicking and the heater seems to be stuck on will not even blow outside fresh air.
