View 3 RepliesMy 2006 F150 with 77k seized up on friday. Sounds like a bad injector flooded the engine, caused hydrolock, and then bent a rod. I called the dealership today and they said the only fix is a new engine. I have 3 payments still left and now the dealership is telling me I gotta buy a new engine.

View 4 Repliesis there an way to remove the defrost vent covers? i think my license slid down the front of the defrost covers. its probably somewhere down under the dash. I would like to start removing the covers up top before I yank the dash. I am 1400 miles from home so I cant run and get a replacement.
View 6 RepliesI'm having a hard time trying to remove one of my rear brake rotors.
I thought these simply pull straight out and off, but mine might be rusted in place. I soaked the front facing area around the axle with Kroil and then tried jolting it out by tapping it with a rubber mallet. No success
What's the trick?
Recently the key chime will not stop when I remove the ignition key. It doesn't do it all the time but is getting more frequent. Usually I can reinsert the key and remove it once or twice and it will stop . How to remedy this issue? Is there something inside the ignition that can be repaired or am I looking at replacing the entire thing?
View 14 RepliesI recently got myself a 2007 F150 XLT Supercab, love the truck, but I find myself needing to make a few mods. First up is the floor console. This is the small console sits atop the hump between the jump seat and the dash. It contains two cup holders and the 4x4 floor shifter.
First how does one remove the 4x4 shift, you need to in order to get the floor console off, the console itself lifts straight up, but the boot for the shifter is attached to it, so the only way I can see to remove it. However I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove it.
I have a 2007 F150 XL that has the power windows and locks, I have the sensor on the dash for the auto headlights so I'm curious if I just need the auto headlight switch for this to work on my truck. I need to remove the headlight switch so I can try to connect the DB/OG and the DB/WH wires to see if this will make the circuit complete for the auto headlights. Anyway, I don't have a manual. How to remove the switch so I can get at the wires?

Do I need to remove the manifold to replace the gaskets for the crossover and if so looking for a good thread showing how.
I recently purchased an '08 F-350 4x4 Lariet Supercab 6.4l and was told by the 3rd party inspection that it needs rear brake pads (2mm left). Are the caliper pistons retractable without having the pistons seize down the road? HOw about the fronts? See below.
I ask as on my '06 F-250 XLT 4x2 5.4l the rear calipers seized without even doing a pad change and the fronts seized about 100 miles after a pad change. Come to find out it is a common problem with the '06 and the calipers either have to be replaced or rebuilt when changing pads. Now I've been "told" to expect the same with the '08.
How can I eliminate the factory Ford (2001 7.3) quick connect fuel line clamp on the output side on my OEM fuel pump? Do I just cut off the factory quick connect and add some 5/15 fuel line? Is it that simple or is there something I need to know prior to cutting off the factory quick connect clamps?
View 6 RepliesMy Haynes manual indicates that the ELC exhausts air when the key is off. Is it intended to exhaust all air from the shocks every time I stop? It doesn't make sense to lower the vehicle every time I stop for fuel etc. With over 200k miles on this can it's amazing that the compressor still works.
View 9 RepliesWhen I start my car after its been sitting overnight, I get a musty smell arising from the AC/fan exhausts.... it dissipates shortly but it happens almost every time.
View 1 RepliesGot two of these for my Sportswagen. However it seems impossible to screw down all 3 latches to fit the exhaust, I ended up just screwing in one (the one at the bottom)... how to install?
View 6 RepliesI have an 05 with a seized front caliper. What other vehicle has the same one? Does 4 runner or any other Toyotas have the same caliper?
View 5 RepliesMy 2004 Toyota Highlander with 84K miles has been diagnosed with a seized front driver side brake caliper with worn brake pad (1/32). I had recall work done a few days ago at the dealership and this was discovered afterward during the "complimentary" multi-point check-up. - You know, the long laundry list of recommended work they try to sell you on. Of course the brake work is actually necessary.
Since the vehicle was just inspected 2 months ago at our local shop, my husband suggested I take it back there to verify the diagnosis and see what that mechanic would recommend. That mechanic confirmed and showed me the seized caliper/worn pad, which, by the way, was functioning well in mid January at inspection, and measured 7/32. This mechanic recommends replacing both calipers, pads, turning rotors. There was no indication of a problem with the RF caliper, but he says it's just a good idea to replace it so we would avoid having another problem in the future.
I want to ask everyone's opinion regarding replacement of just the bad caliper vs. both. Are we getting ripped off as far as the estimate and is the flush necessary? Also, is this issue typical in the first place, and what causes a brake caliper to seize? We've had several other vehicles driven many more miles than my Highlander and never experienced a seized caliper.
I was wondering how do you remove the cup holder part of the console dose it just pop off or are there metal clips or screws hidden some how?

View 2 RepliesI've been trying to find information on how to remove the backseat to my 2008 Santa Fe?
Its really dirty back there where my vacuum can't reach, and I'd like to clean it.
I have a vehicle that I was hoping would make it to the end of the year or so with because of credit issues. I just within the past week or less, am experiencing delayed shifting into 1st gear from stop, and a hard shift into second, then gears 3-5 seem to be much smoother. I went to check to see if my transmission fluid was low, and it is very thin, watery and milky in color. I have 149,000 miles on it almost, and the fluid was never changed that I am aware of when I got it with 78,000+ miles.( I didn't know I needed to do it within the next 50,000 or so.) I've been told by regular mechanics at NTB tire that it was already too late (2 yrs ago) and just keep putting fluid in and should be ok.
Well now it's not, and my question is this, can I have the fluid changed at this point at all, is it possible that it could just seize up the transmission for good? I also don't know if I should continue to drive it or what.
