My daughter's 2004 F150 has a horn problem. She used it the other day and it would not stop blowing. Someone unplugged it for her. When I checked it out and re-plugged it in it still continues to blow. Question is where do I begin. Does this have a horn relay? Do I have to remove the air bag to access the connections under the pad? I own a 1985 F150 and mine is much simpler.
View 9 RepliesMy 2006 F150 was purchased by me in early 2009 with about 28,000 miles on it. It's an XLT crew cab 4X4 with the 5.4. Stock except for a leveling kit and an aftermarket head unit. It currently has about 59,000 miles and has been babied since I purchased it. About 3 years ago I started noting some issues:
A. Oil pressure dummy gauge is all over the place. Some times it will show no oil pressure. Other times it is all the way to the highest mark. Other times the needle has gone 180 degrees past where normal is and is actualy pointing straight down towards the floor.
B. Recently my alternator dummy gauge has started doing the same thing as my oil pressure gauge.
C. The backlight behind my odometer works intermittently, but mostly not at all.
D. My dome light will flicker when first turned on. It doesn't matter which door is opened or if the override switch it turned on. It takes several seconds to come on and will flicker like there is a poor connection somewhere, but stays on once its on.
E. Blower fan will occasionally stop blowing. Once the climate control switch is turned to off, then back to on it resumes working. This doesn't happen often, but does occasionally.
Fortunately, the truck has not left me stranded and I want to keep it that way. We are getting ready to sale my wife's Toyota and this will become her daily driver. I want to take care of any issues before she starts driving it. Are these all separate issues or is there one common issue which could be causing them all?

View 6 RepliesMy horn suddenly stays on when I hit the horn and it doesn't beep when I lock the door with the key fob. Only way to turn it off is to shut off the truck. I thought it may be a faulty horn relay. I've asked many mechanics where the horn relay is located and every one gives a different answer. Under the hood, in the driver side kick panel, under the dash, near the horn itself. Where the horn relay is located on a 2004 F-150....
View 1 RepliesTwo days ago, my horn began honking for no reason...as if the anti theft alarm was going off. I was able to shut it off only by putting the key in its ignition. Last night, the possession by the devil was complete and at 10:30pm, my car began to honk (same as before) incessantly... and I wasn't able to turn it off. This happened about 5 time within 30 minutes. I tried to disconnect the battery but of course, the Prius designers placed the battery in a location that makes it impossible to disconnect. Why this horn malfunction is occurring?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 F150 Lariat with a 5.4 L engine. Bought it 6 weeks ago from the original owner. Has 50,000 miles on it. He had a Ford command start installed when it was new, and received a new key FOB at that time. When I drive the vehicle, sometimes the horn will start blowing and the lights start flashing which to me, indicates the trucks security alarm is activated. The only way to make it stop, is to hit the unlock button on the key FOB. It also does it sometimes when it's not running and I open a door. Previous owner had same problem so he disconnected the horn!!?!

To stop the horn, I simply removed the fuse for the horn, but I was curious what sort of issue would cause this problem and what should be done to fix it.

The Ford emblem in the steering wheel has come off before and I think some of the tabs that hold the emblem in place are floating around behind the horn cover. How do I take it apart and short term, where do I find the horn under the hood to disconnect it?
View 14 RepliesI have a 97' F150, 4x4, Auto trans, 5.4L Lariat. Power locks and windows. Auto locking hubs. It doesn't appear to have any theft deterrent system installed.
It has been sitting for some time. When I hook up the battery the headlights, dash lights, and wipers turn on and the horn starts blowing continuously.
Cycling the key in the ignition or door has no effect. Cycling the key to the start position does not engage the starter.
I have 2002 F250SD, The horn just starts blowing by itself. Bump the horn switch and it stops for a couple of weeks. I've looked at the wires to the fuse box and no wires shorting out the horn wire. I read some very old posts but nothing conclusive was ever decided on, just a lot of guessing. The horn switch has always been sensitive.
Somebody said the air bag is warming up in the sun and expanding causing the horn to blow. Somebody said the horn relay, but in 55 years of working on trucks, I have never had a horn relay act like that. I'm told the horn relay is built in the back of the fuse box and it all has to be replaced. Some say the clock switch. I don't know what that is or where it is. I guess inside the steering wheel. Is it hard to replace?
Where do I go from here....
Sitting in the house, heard a horn blowing and ran outside to find my F350's horn was blowing. When I pushed on the horn button on the steering wheel it quit. Couple of hours later, it started blowing again. Pushed the horn button to make it stop and removed the fuse so it would not start blowing again. Did a forum search, but didn't have any luck. Short in steering wheel?
View 14 RepliesI used my A/C on my 04 f 150 for the first time this year today, and it seems cold but not really blowing out of the vents strong. The blower sounds like its blowing at different speeds but not coming out of the vents much different at each speed. What could be causing this, would the cabin air filter cause this???

View 5 Replies2008 GS460 ... When accelerating from a stop sign/stop light it get's stuck in 1st gear for about 10 - 15 seconds before it shift to second gear. I notice this as the engine rev's high and is not shifting. Shifter is in Automatic and not manual mode. Happened at least 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Dealership is unable to replicate the issue and transmission checks out fine. Guess I have to wait until transmission get's stuck in gear before I can bring it back in.

He replaced the battery last week after vehicle would not start. Noticed he blew a radio fuse but nothing else until yesterday. Major issues of all instruments, ac, windows, etc going out. Unable to start vehicle without jump.Had a error code B1676. So today we switched the battery, all is good (for now) except for horn fuse that keeps blowing.
It's a 2007 ford explorer 2wd v6
My main problem right now is that i am stuck in 4x4 low. Organically (should have left it at this) my truck would not do anything, no 4x4 high or low lights when i turned the switch.(lights worked when truck is first turned on) I researched it on the net and came across the idea to tap the Transfer Case Motor. I did this and my truck locked in 4x4 low and would not come out. I kept tapping on it while someone turned the dash switch and nothing, so i ordered a new(rebuilt) motor (160.00!!)
I got the new motor today and while installing it (I replaced the 2 speed wires) i turned the switch and it went in 4x4 high but i put it back in 4x4 low in order to bolt the motor to the transfer case. After I bolted it on, I tried to take it out of 4 low (in neutral and foot on brake) and it would not disengage. My front hubs will not lock, i am going to get on this after i get it out of 4x4 low(take it to a friends shop so i can lift front end up etc.) I have recently replaced the iwe solenoid on the passenger side firewall.
2008 F150 Super crew 5.4 v8, bone stock. The truck was acting up with a rough idle and slight miss when in gear at a stop 2 weeks ago, loss of power going uphill. Changed fuel filter and filled up with premium and a can of sea foam. The truck straightened up after that, so I thought. Last Friday it dies in the road, cranks, but no fire.
Has to be the engine, had it towed to the local dealer and they get to look at it Monday afternoon, said the transmission fuse was blown and it keeps blowing new ones, it's in the transmission wiring. I am used to older trucks and was blown away transmission wiring will shut the truck down. I would think the wiring harness to the transmission would be simple enough to check out, can the wiring or solenoids in the tranny cause this?
