I bought my 2005 f150 three years ago and the auto headlights never worked. I have just turned them on manually. Couple weeks ago they started to delay coming on and now they do not work at all. All other lights work including fog lights.

The other morning when I left the house, turned on the lights, all of the marker lights, dash, fog, etc. come on normally but no headlights. Placed switch in auto and all works fine, including lights. Move switch back and forth between auto and manual a few times and lights finally come on in manual. Next few days they worked fine. Now again this weekend it did it again. Everything worked fine in auto but no headlights in manual. Run the lights in the auto position and after about 5 min on the road switched back to manual and lights came on. I'm thinking possibly a bad headlight switch or maybe a relay that's hanging up or has a bad contact. I've searched but most of the problems I see are when the lights don't work in auto not manual.

Truck has 200K plus miles on it and I went to start it after driving (it may have say for 10 min) the truck hesitated and didn't start and smoke started coming from under the hood. Looked like it was coming from the drivers side maybe mid fender or closer to the firewall. Look at it and nothing was on fire but something defiantly happened cause now its compensating for something. The rpms are up from what they usually are and the drivers information was cleared. Truck runs now but just worried
View 6 RepliesI've been noticing over the past couple years that sometimes when I accelerate, there's a slight delay between the time I press my foot down on the pedal and when acceleration actually happens. From reading other threads it would seem that the most common fix is to re-flash the ECU. I bought a DiabloSport Predator tuner along with a CAI a while back to improve performance/gas mileage and I was wondering if there's a way I can use the tuner to re-flash.
If not, do most ford repair shops already carry these? I don't want to buy a flash programmer. Also, if the shop does carry this type of an item, what is the average cost to get it re-flashed?

I have an automatic 2004 f150 fx4 with a 5.4 engine. I just bought the truck and noticed the other day that when I shift into reverse, there is a 1-2 second delay. Sometimes it will shift quicker than other times. Drive seems to be a little more swift I think. Everything seems to run smooth and the shifting is very smoot other than the delay. Is this normal or what could be some of the causes. The previous owner has the ATF changed this pst summer and it looks and smells fine other than maybe having to much fluid.
View 2 RepliesI've got an 04' F150 and the ONLY problem I have with it is a ridiculously sluggish throttle. I bought the Superchips Tuner in hopes of eliminating this, but the delay in the throttle is still there (power is much better however). When I talk delay, I am talking hitting the gas and probably a realistic .5-1 sec delay. It is quite annoying to say the least.
My question...is there something that I can do myself to improve the throttle response? I drove an older 150..probably an 02 or 03 and it felt sooooo much more powerful just do to the throttle. I am even willing to ditch the Superchips if the Ford re-tune would do a better job.
I have a 2008 F-150. When moving gear selector from park to either reverse or drive, trans has a delay engaging. After engagement, it runs fine, shifts ok, downshifts ok....

I have already scraped (not cleaned) most of the corrosion off of the terminals on the battery and tightened the connections...
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 RX350 AWD with only 500 miles on it so far and I am starting to get concerned about what seems to be excessive slipping or a delay in response in the trans. Under normal forward driving the trans seems to shift very smooth. The problem occurs under situations where I am coming to a near stop, basically coasting, and then have to accelerate again to continue forward. This could be in a slow moving traffic type situation or when maneuvering through a parking lot. When I try to execute a small increase in speed the engine revs but the trans doesn't respond.
It's as though it's in neutral and unable to decide which gear it should be in. After a 2 to as long as a 5 second delay it finally engages and moves forward. The condition is even worse if I am heading into a slight incline. Once it is engaged everything is fine and the subsequent shifts are very smooth. When starting from a complete stop it works perfectly. I've never had a transmission slip this much in any vehicle. There was one situation where I was almost broadsided because the RX delayed in moving forward.
I realize this is a subjective call but I am trying to determine what level of slipping in the trans is considered normal under the conditions I've described. I have searched and read past threads about issues with the earlier model years but I thought they were resolved by now. I haven't taken the RX in for service yet but I fear I will get the standard - everything is working as designed - answer from my dealership.
My state requires headlights to be on when wipers are on. Is there a known way to rig this on a 2006 F150 with the auto headlight setup? Link to a DIY somewhere? I'd expect to have to wire in a relay at the very least.

I have swapped out my 2008 Headlights for 2012 LED ones. However, the LED strip is not coming on. I followed the below thread and grounded that green wire as shown, and ran the red wire to the ig2 fuse box on the drivers side and nothing. i also tested it from the battery and nothing as well.

View 11 RepliesI have a 2004 ford F150 trition 4x4, I bought it in march, happen to notice that my head lights wouldn't shut off this afternoon after when I got home from town, after several phone calls n different ideas I resorted to removing a battery cable to keep my battery from dying, then tonight I decided to go to my dads, when I put the negative cable back in the battery I noticed it sparked. she drove fine there, got done visiting n on my way home my horn goes off n won't shut off till I stopped n turned the truck off, I drove all the way home with it blowing like crazy, I took the fuse out but my truck will not start with out the fuse!! I have to work tomorrow night n I have no clue what's going on!!

View 4 Replies I was having a problem where my headlights were turning off every time I would turn my directional signals on (2004 F150). Started out that it was mainly during left turns, but recently it affected right turns as well. Did a bit of google research as well as asking a mechanic to take a look at it while he was repairing something else, and all signs seemed to point to a bad multifunction switch.
So I replaced the mfs, and now my headlights don't work at all. The high beams work when I flash them, but not when I click them on fully. The parking lights work as well as the directionals. Took the truck into Ford and they are saying the headlight switch is bad. Does this sound right? After blowing $100+ on a mfs I'd hate to drop on a headlight switch only to find that it too, doesn't fix the problem. Not to mention NOBODY around here seems to carry the switch in stock. I checked the 2 fuses for the headlights and they looked fine.
2006 SuperCrew, 2WD 4.6L with 117K miles. Headlights will not turn off. totally drained battery. I replaced dead battery wit a fresh one. truck started right up. Headlights on. I turned switch to right and left, and 'clicks' sounded and seemed normal. Headlights on. Turned truck off and pushed button on key fob. Headlights still on. Disconnected new battery and trying to figure this out.
View 6 RepliesI own a fully loaded 2014 Lexus IS350F and noticed the Enform/Radio/Nav has about a 2 minute delay of booting up when the car is first started. I literally can't change the audio source, make a call, etc for nearly 2 minutes. I never experienced this on any other car. My 2007 Acura TLS was instantaneous. What's the deal with Lexus?
Also I noticed the Nav system does voice commands over the radio rather than muting the music. Any way to change that? Some odd choices Lexus made here and I hope I can tweak.
2004 f-150. When I put the light switch in "auto" position and it gets dark, only the parking lights come on. The headlights do not come on. The headlights work when I put the switch in the "on" position, however. This makes no sense to me.
View 1 RepliesI just recently got a 2004 f150 5.4, and it was running good it just had a random jump in RPMs low high low high, so I went to autozone and the code read it was my IAC but they said it might be my MAF sensor that was dirty so i bought MAF cleaner and cleaned the sensor and the plugs on the tps and also cleaned the throttle body and it worked no more rpm bouncing. But then I had to turn on another project. I had and took the battery out of the f150 after about 30min.
I reinstalled the battery i turned the truck on and turned on fine but i put it in gear and the gas pedal didn't response it would just go to the floor so i thought i might of damaged the gas pedal sensor so I went to my local junk yard and bought another one and same thing the mechanic down the street said i had to reprogram the computer and buy a new throttle body but i keep reading it might be the tps and I might have to calibrate it. Its my first ever Ford....
My problem is my right front axle (cv shaft) when in 2wd and engine running will not turn, everything else will as it should. in 4wd engine running nothing moves... if i jack up tire engine off right side makes a clicking noise kinda like the wheel of fortune wheel (from the tv show) <<<just in case. 4WD does not work when engaged, by that i mean they dont pull like there not locked in....
