I have a 2004 F150 Fx4 and i just locked the tailgate for the first time and now i cannot unlock it. I turned it clockwise to lock it and I am trying to turn it counter clockwise to unlock it and it seems like its putting too much tension on the key.... Am I doing something wrong?
View 7 RepliesSo I'm having a tailgate issue. When I open my tailgate, sometimes the internal spring wants to keep it up, rather then letting it open down. It also makes an odd popping noise during operation from time to time......I don't see or feel anything broke in it.
View 7 RepliesI just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
I just had the bed and tailgate on my 2004 replaced with a 2015. The body shop took my old lock cylinder out to put in the new tailgate. The old tailgate is only a year old and I wanted to sell it. The issue is that the latch will not open the tailgate. I can manually unlatch it by pulling the rods. Does the lock cylinder not being installed somehow affect this and need to be installed for it to function properly or do the rods simply need to be adjusted?

View 5 Replies2003 Explorer Sport, 4X4, keyless entry. Bought the truck brand new but never had occasion to use the keys in the door and tailgate locks. Tried them this week and they did not work the locks. I first thought that the locks were frozen. Not the case. Stopped by the dealer and he suggested spraying WD40 in the locks. Didn't work. Got a new 'blank' cut by the dealer in case the key was worn, didn't work. What might be the issue? I was thinking that the wrong cylinders were put in the truck on the assembly line. I have a key fob remote and keyless entry but it would be nice if the key unlocked the doors in an emergency.
View 6 RepliesWell heck, the PO of the truck I just bought has lost the spare key to the ignition, and the key that opens the tailgate and unlocks the spare tire. First question, is the key to the tailgate and spare tire the same key or are they different?
Second question, is there any simple way to have new keys cut for these things?
I have a 2006 F-15 XLT with a bed cover, tailgate cover and separate tailgate cap. The cap has cheap plastic clips that went into the tailgate but have broken off...this is a problem as I have a tonneau cover that is a tight fit. Every time I close the tailgate with the cover on, I have to jam the cap down and hope it is far enough by the time the tailgate closes.
2 Questions:
1) Where can I buy a reasonable replacement?
2) Is there a good solution to just repair? I tried JB Weld, but that did not seem to hold (surprisingly)
Remotes suddenly will not lock/unlock doors or open trunk.Background - guy left key in ignition in 'on' position overnight. Also thunderstorm with very near lightning strike during that time.Battery dead in am, though after jump start it was not necessary to reset radio, clock, etc.Neither remote works.Checked the door lock fuse - looks OK, but did not replace it as there were no spares in the spare slots.Where else to look for the problem?

My tailgate is getting increasingly hard to open (and it's not me getting weaker!). I now have to pull pretty hard towards the left side of the handle to get it open, whereas I used to just pull in the center without much effort and it'd fly open.

So they brought out another Touareg and opened the tailgate...it opened all the way...and they still tried to find fault with our car. Why the tailgate doesn't open up all the way?

View 3 Replies2007 Santa Fe tailgate will not open. When I use the key fob it goes through the lock and lock motion. When I grab the handel and squeeze the tailfate does not open. I took inside pannel off and checked and nothing seems broken. Also, sprayed wd40 to lube.

Also when I press the unlock on my key fob, the headlights flash, but the doors do not unlock. And the driver side lock/unlock switch is no longer working either.. could this be a broken wire?
View 8 RepliesOn my Hyundai Accent 2007 (3 door) I accidentally closed tail gate without pushing the outside handle off me, as the manual recommends. After that I am unable to open the tail gate, neither manually turning the key clockwise nor with keyless fob by pushing UNLOCK button. I do hear that it unlocks however when pulling handle towards me, I simply can't open the hatch. Driver's and passenger doors open and close fine. I've checked the manual from cover to cover and verified every single thing that it talks about, but still no result.
View 4 RepliesI've just got a new to me 2007 Santa Fe and it's full of electrical gremlins. Today's problem is the idiot light indicating the tailgate is open is always on and the light in the hatch and the alarm randomly come on as well... the neighbours are not impressed. I can't find any pin switch on the hatch and where the switch is located. Is it a magnetic sensor? perhaps on the lock mechanism?
There is so little technical info available for these vehicles. I've always had VWs and the tech support online is insane. Hope i can resolve these problems as it seems like a good vehicle.
