2004 f150 - Airbag light was flashing. Received recall letter. Dealer replaced a wiring harness. Dealer did not confirm functionality of airbag prior to leaving shop. Light continues to flash. New diagnostics from dealer says error code 1885 - the control restraint module needs replacing in P&L. Does the code match the fix? Can a novice mechanic replace the module?

Odd thing seems to display just after passenger seat has been moved/adjusted or something medium weight placed on it.
Will reposition seat and check belt tensioner but, stays on for awhile.

View 10 RepliesI have a 2005 f-150 street boss with 79000 mile, and it is shooting off going down the road, and the check engine light is flashing. The first time I started it back up and it would idle fine, but the throttle wouldn't do any thing. After setting about 15 min. I started it up and it ran good. I checked the codes and it had a p2104 Throttle actuator control system forced idle. It happened again with my wife. This time when I checked the codes it had the p2104 and a p2112 throttle actuator control system stuck closed code. What could be the problem, or a troubleshooting guide I could use to try and diagnose it.

2006 F150, FX4, 5.4, super crew. Had the infamous airbag code 42 flashing at me the other day, replaced the sensor in the front of the radiator support, and am still getting the same code. The old senser had some corrosion inside the sensor itself, but the connections were clean on both the sensor and the pigtail. Is there something I may have missed?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 F350 7.3 Powerstroke with approximately 200,000 miles. Recently I have been having an issue with what I am told is my airbag control module heating up to the point it is too warm to touch when I am pulling a heavier load. It is located just under the dash on the center hump. I removed the black plastic cover revealing the module itself in order to determine that indeed is where the heat and smell of hot electrical equipment is originating from. It gets too hot to touch when pulling a heavy load and making the motor work...once I lighten up on it or am not pulling it immediately cools back down. If it is an option I would just disconnect it but I havent yet for fear of creating more of a problem.
View 1 RepliesI've been trying to trace down a issue with the airbag warning light flashing. The seatbelt light is flashing also. The airbag code is 53. If i search it i get the front crash sensor..I replaced it with a new sensor and pigtail. Other than that the search leads me to believe it could be anything.
I've checked and clean every connection that i could find. I haven't removed the center console yet to check the module. I did buy the truck last fall as a winter/work truck. The issue started a couple of months after i started driving it. Not sure if the module would just go bad.

- Car won't start ...
- Remote key unlocks the car fine
- When put the key in the ignition and turn 'on' the little key indicator on the cluster doesn't come on.
- Left overnight and tried again in the morning, key indicator come on and then disappeared and wasn't able to start car.
- Key indicator now won't come on.
I spoke to mechanic and he said replace the immobilizer control module and reprogram key..
I have to replace the upper control arm on my 05 f150 4x4. I've been looking around the site and didn't see anything. Is there directions posted anywhere on the procedure? or if the strut assembly has to be removed? If so do I have to compress the spring first?

Fuses visually look ok (I don't have a tester) and they had been working previously. I live on Molokai - no prius mechanic on the island so I do my own repair when I can - how to diagnose the problem?
View 4 RepliesI purchased a 04 V8 with 22K miles. Very nice ride and huge upgrade from a Grand Cherokee. After noticing slow cranking, I took it by a dealer where we tested the battery. Electronics and battery tested OK. Dealer advised to lock the doors at night when parked in my garage.
I am still having slow cranking, and now experiencing the Traction Control module flashing and error message on the screen. ( It will disappear after I restart in a few minutes.) I am also experiencing a message that the computer is shutting down the consumer electronics.
Alternator showing 13.75-14 volts at first start up, returns to 13+ volts after 15 minutes. Cables, poor battery? I want it to start after sitting at the airport for several days.
