I have a 2007 F150 It will stall out when I go over a speed bump. It has happened several times and getting worse. No codes stored. It will also skip between 40 and 50 mph.

Over the past couple of weeks it would get go through random rough idling spell or stall going down the road. If it was sitting it would idle clear down to 200 RPM's and just sound like an old 'chitty-chitty-bang-bang' car, not a modern marvel of Ford engineering!
I noticed it particularly does it this on an incline. Initially I fixed it by just coasting to where it was flat. I normally keep it above half a tank so i dont think its a fuel pump not getting fed. So I replaced the fuel filter yesterday hoping it was full or clogged, no changed.
This morning it would start at all, I removed the negative terminal on the battery, rolled to the level, tried it 30 times. Nothing. I checked all of my connectors under the hood and the 2 below the cab under the plastic cover. Everything was connected. I disconnected the fuel pressure sensor and it fired right up and runs smoother than since I've owned it.
It hasn't had any CEL lights, until I disconnected that sensor. Should I drop the tank and clean it? Is there any special gasket kits or connectors I should be aware of? Should I just replace that sensor? Is it connected with a chain of sensors I should check first?
The front driver's side wheel of my 2007 Ext. Cab makes a speed-related "ticking" sound. It's usually audible but not always there. I look for rocks in the tread of my BFG All-Terrains and sometimes I find some, sometimes not. The noise seems to be independent although some of the rocks really get up in there. Sometimes its really loud and it sounds like a rock. Bearing? 4WD CV or U-Joints or whatever?
View 6 RepliesI have a front end noise when I go over a speed bump or hit a pot hole. It is kind of a crunching nise like something needs grease.
The Hyundai dealer charged me $54 to diagnose the problem and told me I needed both upper control arms replaced to the tune. They did force some grease in the bushings.
The car only has 63000 miles.
My 2010 SF has 36000 km and I've noticed a "crunching" type sound every time I go over a steep ramp or a speed bump. The sound comes from the rear and never happens on smooth road. I took the car in for service last week and the dealership has ordered two rear replacement shocks -- they say it's premature failure.
View 16 RepliesI have recently started to have the exhaust rattle on my RX330. It occurs every now and then when the car is on an angle or more particularly when going over a speed bump. I had been trying to find out where it was coming from and it looked to be the exhaust possibly touching the plate that separates the exhaust from the spare wheel cover (which of course is plastic). This is the part I am talking about....
Now the first part of me thinks that to resolve the issue it would be handy to put some padding there to stop it from rattling against the shield when the exhaust does move. The second part of me also thinks, it might be time to replace the rubber holders as they seem to be particularly soft and have quite a bit of give to them. Now for the interim I would want to put some padding on there. What padding have to put there? Would exhaust wrap be the most obvious choice to wrap around the shield?
Trying to find an inexpensive temporary solution. The long term resolution would be for the actual rubber rings themselves to be replaced as well as having that small metal bit covered in some sort of wrap to prevent metal to metal touching (hence vibration and noise). Part of me also thought to remove the shield altogether, but worried that the exhaust may touch the plastic around the tyre and cause it to melt and possibly catch fire, as it does sway a bit.
Just had new full struts installed as well as rear shocks on 04 F150, supercrew. There is a noise that only happens when you hit a bump. I initially thought it was the strut boot but having those replaced, and the noise still there means it was not that. What I should look at sounds like something is loose on the front end. Had an alignment done and they said all was tight.
View 3 RepliesLet me describe this perplexing issue. I have a speratic rough idle problem. When it happens it's almost like the truck wants to stall. Once going the truck is fine. There has never been any acceleration issues, but for a short time the truck would kind of lunge off idle. It hasn't done that for quite some time. I've replaced the fuel filter. There are no vacuum leaks that I know of. I've tried higher octane fuel. I've tried injector cleaner for a month. What should the fuel pressure be and what is the test port located? Is the fuel pump in the tank? If so, whats that big log looking thing behind the gas tank that the fuel lines run to? Also, there are no MIL codes...
View 14 RepliesMy mom gave me a 2004 f150 lariat with a 5.4l and were having an issue with the engine when coming to a stop the engine wants to stall out and runs like a bag of hammers and sounds like its going to explode then i give it a shot of fuel and it runs fine for a a while and then does it again. I brought it to the local dealer and he said it was either the vct or the cam phaser bank 2 so i changed both and it still does it just wondering before I keep getting intake cam sensor code retarded and a bunch of other codes but we replaced the cam sensor already.

The truck runs/idles fine, shifts fine, everything is as normal. Except maybe 12 times while under a load, like climbing a hill, the truck would "bump" that's the only way I can describe it. I only noticed it in Drive/Overdrive. I hoped I had water in the gas so I added gas treatment at 2 fill ups, still seems to do it occasionally. Where to start? I'm going to get a fuel filter today, the one that's on it only has about 12k on it....
View 13 RepliesAs I said when I take off from a dead stop I can feel a clunk or a bump that feels like it is coming from the rear wheels. I can feel it more than I can hear it, although I can hear it a little. It is difficult to describe this. It is only for a second and kinda feels like the rear wheels have no traction then it bumps and takes off. If I ease into the accelerator I can avoid it, but I don't have to hit it real hard at all to get it to do it. I am sure it is not u-joints as I put a brand new drive shaft from driveshaft specialist on in the spring.
View 3 RepliesI put on a leveling kit a few months ago and pretty much replaced a lot of worn out parts in the front fenders. With the exception of lower control arms, shocks and springs. Just about everything else that moved was replaced I think.
Well now it seems like every time I hit a decent bump in the road my truck jumps to the side. It's very noticeable if I'm going around a corner and hit a bump. The steering wheel is thrown from side to side so I'm fairly certain that the issue is up front but don't really know where to start looking.
The truck may have done this before the leveling kit but it's very exaggerated now. It's so bad at times that my husband won't drive it.
I have an 08 LS base model, and recently while driving I'll hear a knocking noise coming from the rear suspension. This is every time I'll go I'll go over a bump. The knock is the same as when I had my 03 Acura TL .
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 F-150 SCrew Lariat 4X4 with 80K miles. Over the past month or so, every once in awhile there would be a loud metallic "clacking" sound (kind of like sticking a peice of aluminum in a bike's spokes) that would start at higher speeds and would turn into a low pitched whirring gear sound as I slowed down and eventually there would be a thud followed by a sensation of running over a small bump and the noise would be gone. Kind of confusing I know, but that is the best way to describe it. My gut feeling is a wheel bearing or transmission problem....
View 9 RepliesI was driving when the truck made a terrible noise and while pulling over the check engine light went on as well as low oil pressure. I turned off truck and checked but no evidence of any leakage at all. Checked oil stick and was dry. Let sit for an hour and checked oil stick to find about 1/2" showing. Added oil to find that now it was overfull, drained oil back and stick showed proper level. Attempted to drive and it was fine until I came to a stop wherein it would stall with "low oil pressure" showing and check engine light on. Brought to shop and they said engine is very gunked up, they said they could try oil flush but probably will not work. They most likely will have to remove the valve cover and such to physically look at engine and take it from there... (I have always used type of oil stated on the cap, used synthetic and changed every 5-7k miles - showed diagnostic codes p0011, p0340, p0345 and p0021).
View 14 RepliesI recently bought a 2006 STX with the 4.6 engine. Occassionally, when stopping at a light, the engine will stall. I took it to the dealer where I bought it and he put it on the computer and found that once on a test drive the RPM's dropped to 490, but it did not stall. He said everything checked out fine and thought it might be a carbon build up, since the truck only has 27,000 miles on it and was driven only around town. He suggested a couple of tanks of higher octane fuel and a fuel additive to remove the carbon.
View 10 RepliesOk my 2004 F150 has been messing up lately. The 4wd doesn't work. Pretty sure that's the actuators however, now it is riding EXTREMELY rough! Every time I turn the wheel to turn into a parking lot and then proceed to enter the lot something in the front end pops! Loudly! It sounds like popping out a dent like its loud! What it is. I just know 4wd doesn't work, there is a loud popping noise when I hit pot holes or turns. I CANT even go off road now because of the popping noise and also it is extremely extremely rough. Any clues on what's up?
View 3 RepliesMy 04 F150 has started having a rough idle. While in park the engine will stall out with the A/C off. Also when in drive the truck will idle close to 1000rpm's. I had to the fuel filter cleaned and also the MAF sensor cleaned. Also did a vacuum check on it. Pulled the code and it's throwing a Lean Code. What else should I be looking for?
View 12 RepliesMy Prius has started stalling out. I had the codes read a couplt days ago..needs plugs or gas cap gaskets. I disconnected the ground cable to clear codes instead of going to dealer and being charged to clear check engine light. After doing this the car has stalled out twice. The first time I tried jumping it didn't work until I disconnected and reconnected the ground cable, it started after about 5 minutes of being hooked up to my other car.
Took it for a drive to charge it further after about 15 miles everything was working fine, the hybrid monitor was showing good charging. Then all of a sudden the triangle light comes on and all the other stuff, check engine etc. Takes a few more miles to stall out. I did the same thing with the battery as before leaving it disconnected for about 5 minutes. Reconnected and it starts up and ran fine to home. ?? Did trying to clear the codes the first time cause these problems???
Just experienced the teeth jarring "thud" from going over a speed bump. That was bad. I want to fix the issue right now for cheap. I plan on doing the full blown V/B mod swap out later, but don't want to buy new rubber when my current is nearly new. Dealership wanted ALOT of money for replacement leafs. This is just a temporary temporary measure to stop the slamming.

I really like the shackles for their price. Flip side though, I feel the mini-pack would firm up the ride a tad. My old F-250 rode like a truck, and the X just doesn't.
Are the factory front shocks long enough to support 2" of extension without breaking? I really didn't want to mess with the rear suspension, but she sits pretty level right now and I'm not a fan of the Bulldog look.
I have a 04 lariat f150. Problem is every time I stop at a light or stop sign I hear and feel a bump. Coming from the rear I guess . Had my truck aligned asked the alignment person about the situation he said ford just do that. True or false ...
