View 4 RepliesMy driver and my driver side passenger (slightly) door squeaks when I open and close it. I know it has to do with the door checks. The black plastic thing that holds the door open 1/4 or 1/2 way. I don't want to try something that might not fix it like greasing it. I don't want a glob of grease on there and it still squeaks. Is there a way to adjust it?
View 8 RepliesMy passenger and back door windows won't open with the use of their switches. I can open all three with the master control. I thought the master switch was bad and replaced it. The problem persists. Are these individual switches for the passenger and back doors in series, where one goes out and none work ?
View 4 RepliesSo I noticed that since day 1, whenever I close the door (both driver/passenger side), part of the door rattles, almost like it reverberates. It makes the car feel really cheap, and find it hard to believe that this is normal, since I never heard this with any other Toyota. I'm not sure if it is the window rattling, or the window frame.
View 8 RepliesI noticed today that the bass from the Infinity stereo in my Santa Fe was making my passenger door rattle pretty bad. I haven't noticed this before (maybe it was from the cold weather?)
Has taking off inner door panels fixed the rattle? I read a few threads that made it sound like people just took them to the dealer.
My driver door is just loose enough to rattle on bumps and it's quite annoying. I've loosened the striker and tapped it in as far as it'll go with the hammer and it is still not tight enough. I need about 1/4 inch more and that's about how worn my striker is. Obviously I need to buy new a new striker based on the wear, but am I the only one with strikers wearing too much to be adjusted and causing rattles ?
View 7 RepliesDoor panel has been off a few times to see what is up. drove it down the road a few times with the panel OFF to see if I could find the rattle...and it was quiet. when the panel goes back on, rattle comes back.
Now...where should I look at? is it one of the lock/door latch rods vibrating against the panel? that is about the only thing I can figure...
I have a bit of a question about my 2007 Ford F-150 w/ the 5.4 3V. I don't know how long it's been doing this, I just happened to notice it not long ago. Whenever I rev the truck (doesn't matter if it's in Park or Drive) in between 800-1,000 RPMs it makes a "rattle" type sound - like a "rat-tat-tat-tat" I guess is one way of putting it. It only does it when the engine is hot, it won't do it when it cools down some. The truck has 63,000 miles and I've always ran the recommended 5W-20 weight oil. Engine runs good, no power-loss or anything like that. I have posted a video on YouTube of the sound. If you want to skip my talking in the video to get to the sound, then skip to 1 minute and 40 seconds of the video.
2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L Triton V8 Rattling/Ticking VCT Phaser Noise?
Sometimes when closing either the front driver or passenger door, it seems as though the door is not closing properly and it sounds like the latches are striking metal against metal. The doors always close and the noise does not occur all the time, in fact it occurs on a very seldom basis. The noise is very annoying and definitely does not sound right. I can not repeat the problem at will and I fear the dealer will not be able to locaate, unless it happens just as they close the door. The doors do close tight, but the sound is awful (sharp metal hitting metal sound).
View 2 RepliesI'm working on my little brother's 2006 F-150 FX400 Crew Cab. Last night he lowered the front passenger half way down to talk to a friend. He then tried to put the window back up. The window very slowly went up 3/4 of the way then stopped, slowly started to lower, then dropped down into the door. He was only using the window switch on the driver's door and it was raining at the time. I saw a lot of issues posted about window regulators and motors but none that matched this.
View 7 RepliesI just bought a 2004 Ford F150 supercrew, and I noticed that the rear passenger power locks don't work.
- I can manually lock and unlock the door. But when I try to use the powerlocks, nothing happens at all.
- I have powerlock controls on both front doors and when I try to lock/unlock all the doors, they all work properly besides that rear passenger door.
- I have checked all fuzes, they are fine.
I realize it could be the actuator? But, I can manually lock/unlock the door with no problem, so could it still be that? How do I troubleshoot to see if it is the actuator or just a wiring problem.
I have all the tools and a meter, just don't know how to troubleshoot the problem! I've done a lot of googling about this and there isn't really anything I've seen on troubleshooting to see if its wiring or actuator.
My 08 gs350 makes a clicking noise when you open the doors really wide and again as you close it. I've tightened all the screws around the door check... Also lubed it as good as possible.
Could it be something to do with the door check pin? How do you replace it?
Passenger window won't function from the drivers door switch. Installed a new drivers door switch and it still doesn't work. The passenger window works fine from the passenger door switch.
View 5 RepliesI'm still shopping around trying to find the right ES. I test drove a very clean 2008 today save for 2 things. The interior smelled a little stale. Can't figure out if it was cleaning solvents that were used or if it's a cleaning product mixed with light smoker smell. That was the only thing I noticed initially until I got in for a quick test drive and closed the drivers door.
When I closed the drivers door it had a hollow gong-like sound, like if you hit a big empty metal barrel. A 'bung' sound. I haven't noticed this on other ES's I've checked out. You can kind of pick out the noise on the passenger door on this car, but it's very muted. The passenger door sounds like it's supposed to sound. It sounds solid, more 'chunk'. You could pick out the slight 'bung' if you were listening for it, but normally, all you hear is 'chunk'. But, there's no missing it in the drivers door. There's no rattle in the door or the car in general. Initially, I thought maybe the speaker was loose, but nothing is moving in the door, it just 'bungs' when you close it. Maybe it's out of alignment? It looked straight.
Is there sound proofing in the door that could be missing or loose from a repair?

View 5 RepliesI have a 2002 F150 Lariat Supercrew, and suddenly a bad rattle developed inside the passenger side door. The window still works fine, but I'm afraid it won't much longer. I have taken the panel off, and can reach into one of the supports and mimic the rattle. When you shut the door, it sounds like the glass is going to fall out. I had to replace the motor on the driver's side door a couple of years ago, and I'm hoping to prevent another window sliding down inside the door. How to fix this situation? I haven't been able to feel anything that may have come loose.
View 3 RepliesHaving issues with the gas door not closing. I opened it a couple days ago, and the little tit inside didn't pop back out. I messed around with the lever under the steering wheel and with the unit inside the gas door. Got the tit to pop out, but once I opened it again, it didn't stay out. Not sure if I need a new cable from the pull lever to the door, or just the unit that's inside the gas door.
View 1 RepliesJust sopped up about a quart of water on the pass side floor. the wiring harness channel (along the door on the floor) was full as was the corner where the fuse box is along with the whole jutting up to the seat!
Was thinking I has a windshield leak, tested out fine. I have alot of AC water draining under the truck, thought that ws O.K. too. Then did an experiment after dryin the floor and juting.
peeled it all back and ran the AC for 20 minutes till I had a good puddle on the ground, and sure enough the "joint" lowest and closest to the tranny tunnel was dripping. Thinking the box is full of water now. Where is the actual drain hole for the AC? can't find it under the "heat shield" crap under the truck.
When I shut my driver's door there is a reverberating sound similar to a spring being stretched and then plucked. It closes fine, the window works, and all the functions of the door work. It closes tight. It just has this hollow spring sound right after I close the door. None of the other doors make this sound.
I was at the local Toyota Dealer today for work on the prius (check my other thread about that trip) and I found a gen II prius unlocked... so I got in and closed the door and no spring sound. It sounded just like my other 3 doors... so something must be up with my door. My car is a 2006 Prius with JBL package.
I picked up my 2014 Tiguan about a month and a half ago, and I am experiencing a tinny rattle from the front-passenger side door...and sometimes from the rear passenger door (or at least it seems that way). It is intermittent. Sometimes it is very slight, sometimes it is quite noticeable on acceleration in colder weather, and sometimes it is just not there. It is, however, bothersome...especially on a new car with 1400K miles. It is also the kind of problem that, in my experience, is hard for technicians to locate and fix. Where it might be emanating. Is it is a common problem with this line of VW?
View 4 RepliesMy wife's 2012 VR6 developed an annoying buzzy rattle that, I believe, emanates somewhere from the front passenger side - either from around the glove compartment area closet to the firewall/A-pillar, or the door itself.
I took everything out and still cannot figure out where it's coming from; thought it was the puddle light being loose (and btw they are loose) - but that was not the source of the sound. Best I can describe it as a cross between pebbles in a tin can and small buzzer; and it happens only on rough roads.
