My gf has a 2007 F-150 XLT Scab 5.4 2x4 and ever since she got the truck (bought used) the odometer back light has never worked. I know it was a common problem with the previous generation trucks to have a bad solder joint to cause this. I'm assuming that with these newer trucks the back light is LED, so chances are the bulbs are fine.
View 4 RepliesOdometer light on my 07 f150 was coming on and off,read the thread here on how to change bulb. Got that done no problem but the odometer is now blank. Read the thread saying it was a common issue and to look for a bad or broken soder. My problem is i can't figure out how to get the circuit board off of the cluster after i pull off all the bulbs and screws. My local ford service dept wants to replace entire cluster at a hefty price.
View 2 RepliesIt appears the odometer backlight problem has been around for a long time, aon many models. 2007 f150 Supercrew? Just had the engine replaced under warrenty at 35600 miles. Just as soon as I get 50 miles out of warranty the the odometer light goes out.
View 14 RepliesThis is regarding a 2008 F150 - STX. The light that illuminates the odometer is out. I saw the procedure to get to it on Alldata and it looks pretty easy. Next I went to the bulb chart in the user's manual and it said, for any instrument lamp replacement, see the dealer.
I called my local dealer and he said that they were some special kind of bulb but that he was out of stock. I know they can usually get these things quickly but I figured that auto parts stores would have them. It appears I was wrong. I looked on Autozone's web p-age and they show every bulb.... except instrument panel bulbs.
As the title states, my odometer back light works just fine, but nothing displays on it. No mileage reading, no nothing. How to fix it? Found plenty about fixing the back light, but can't find anything similar to this issue.
I've had the battery off for 30-40 minutes and the issue persists after restarting.

My 2005 STX 4x4 was running fine until yesterday, then on my way home I lost all forward power. The odometer displayed TRANS FAULT and the O/D OFF light was blinking. Limped home.... Today I checked the fluid level and it was a little high, so I ciphoned some out. I read a lot of posts about the same problem which lead me to my local autozone to have them put a code reader on it. Unlike all of the other posts, NO codes came up.
According to the scanner, my truck is fine. I was hoping to get some kind of "P" code to target the problem, but no such luck. I checked all the fuses and they are fine. What should I do now? I don't really want to take it to the dealer, fearing that they will automatically say I need a new tranny without checking everything else first.
I have had my 2004 F150 for 2 years now and the dash display has never worked properly. For a winter project I would like to fix it. So far I have deducted that it is not the bulb behind the panel because if I slide the dimmer switch to turn the interior light on the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree.....like it should be....but, I have to slide the dial down to turn off the interior dome light and the dash is veeerry dim. It is annoying as all get up. Is there a way to replace the dimmer switch with a strickly on/off for the dash lights? I don't see why the dash dimming is even an option.
View 3 RepliesIts a 2007 f150 v6. has 55,000 miles. just got her new tires for Christmas. the truck has doing this for awhile. when you use the brakes the pedal pulsates and the truck jerks back and forth. Feels like bent rotor or something. I've been doing it about a year keeps getting worse. Last year I had the rotors turned and put new pads on got a little better. But not for long continued to get worse again. So I just bought new rotors and pads and still sucks. I thought it could be a bent rim so I just rotated the tires and still no better. Where should i go from here? calipers? something in the front end loose?

The problem persists. Are these individual switches for the passenger and back doors in series, where one goes out and none work ?

View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 F-150 S/Crew and I seem to have the same intermittant odometer problem as many of the folks in that 1999-2003 group. The odometer comes and goes, flashes intermittantly and sometimes doesn't work for days.
Can it be repaired in the same fashion as those older units? The dealer is more than willing to sell me a new cluster (obviously). They say that there is "no way to possibly repair those odometer problems and we see them all the time."

Odometer display quit on me. This is the co.pass and temp as well. I have also noticed that when I come to a complete stop and then take off a again, the auto lock feature activates like I had put it in park and then back to drive. Thinking I could have an electrical issue here.
I have 2005 FX4 the odometer/temp display is flashing on and off like there is a loose connection the green back drop stay lit it's the black numbers is flashing on off it doesn't mater if it's running or in key on this is what I got ?
View 1 RepliesI already searched and seemed to only find info about, no backlight but lcd readout was still working. My backlight reacts to the lights being turned off and on; so I know it works but just no numbers. I noticed it on the way to work after the truck had been sitting in the hot sun for a while but When I got off work after dark around 11:00pm it worked all the way on the drive home, but I went to grab a bite and it no longer worked. I figure it could have something to do with sitting in the heat? It's the stx cluster with only the speedo and no tac if that makes a difference. I really don't want to have to drop cash on a new cluster.

I just called the servicing dealer and the SA told me that he felt the same thing when he moved a 600 for a customer making sharp turns, explaining that this is normal from the electric motors. Is this true???

View 7 RepliesMy 2006 F150 was purchased by me in early 2009 with about 28,000 miles on it. It's an XLT crew cab 4X4 with the 5.4. Stock except for a leveling kit and an aftermarket head unit. It currently has about 59,000 miles and has been babied since I purchased it. About 3 years ago I started noting some issues:
A. Oil pressure dummy gauge is all over the place. Some times it will show no oil pressure. Other times it is all the way to the highest mark. Other times the needle has gone 180 degrees past where normal is and is actualy pointing straight down towards the floor.
B. Recently my alternator dummy gauge has started doing the same thing as my oil pressure gauge.
C. The backlight behind my odometer works intermittently, but mostly not at all.
D. My dome light will flicker when first turned on. It doesn't matter which door is opened or if the override switch it turned on. It takes several seconds to come on and will flicker like there is a poor connection somewhere, but stays on once its on.
E. Blower fan will occasionally stop blowing. Once the climate control switch is turned to off, then back to on it resumes working. This doesn't happen often, but does occasionally.
Fortunately, the truck has not left me stranded and I want to keep it that way. We are getting ready to sale my wife's Toyota and this will become her daily driver. I want to take care of any issues before she starts driving it. Are these all separate issues or is there one common issue which could be causing them all?
I have a few issues with my 05 f150 that I need to know how to fix them
-the odometer display flashes on and off, the warmer it is outside the less it stays on
-heater blower doesn't work when the switch is on number one position, works fine on other positions
-power mirrors don't work neither side
I am thinking about rewiring the fog lights on my 07 f150 to run some off road lights. Do the wiring can handle two 6" lights? Not sure of the wattage yet for the lights....
View 2 RepliesAll those 4 problems, abs light on, brake light on, odometer gauge fluctuate, temp gauge fluctuate and air conditioner stop working, all happen simultaneously. They can also recover and work altogether again for a bit a time, and then all car runs good and after some time it happens again. Quite inconsistent.
Its toyota camry 2007,v4 , 95K miles on it.

Can it be done more economical or better way to do it. Also while the ABS unit is at fault and car is running perfectly fine with the brakes working as expected, is there any issue having the car to be used in the meantime it will be fixed.
I have a 02 explorer XLT with the 4.6L and the oil pressure gauge has never worked (the three years I have owned it) I did an oil change yestarday and replaced the sending unit thinking that was the problem but the gauge is still not working. What other problem it may have? 4x4 light flashing (instrument panel looks like a xmas tree)...
