My truck has been jolting lately around 40-50mph. I have done some research, and I believe its one of the coils going out or is out. The problem is I can't get it to throw the ck engine light. So it's making it hard to determine which coil is actually bad. What to do? I honestly dont want to spend the money replacing every coil at this point.
It's a 2007 F-150 Crew 4X4.
We have a 2011 Santa Fe GLS with 3000 km on her. 3.5L with 6spd Shiftronic transmission. Had a "jolting" feeling when first start up after sitting for 4 hours? Of course this doesn't happen every time but more often than not.
We will turn ignition, CUV will start and then a "jolt", like you had high RPM and slammed in gear. Not lurching forward or reverse, but a "bump". Of course that is what it feels like but it happens within 1 second of start-up.
I think it may have something to do with the transmission but not sure. Maybe line pressure too high and torque converter "jolting/jumping/bumping" ....
My Prius has been jolting when the ICE is on and going from drive to park. It almost seems like the ICE is trying to turn off but does not and it jolts the car as a result.
Is this normal? It also jolts sometimes when the ICE is on and when going from park to drive. The ICE remains on although it almost "jumps" or "jolts." I have not noticed it before, and it only happened intermittently at first, although now it does it most of the time. It does not really have a noise associated although it is mostly a "jump" by the car.
So yesterday i was driving fine and all of the sudden the car started jolting like it was going to stall and the check engine light came on. I pulled over popped the hood to see if there was anything i could see and got back in and took off no problem and the light went off. I starting pushing it and accelerating it to see if it would come back on and it didnt. Today it started doing the same thing but this time the light stays on and every time i change gears it does that jolting like its going to stall.
Its a 2004 gli 6 speed gli 1.8t ....
Upgrading ignition coils on 5.4's? Looking to upgrade mine and only came across a few and the reviews are mixed. I am primarily looking to smooth out the idle and gain some minimal power and maybe get a flicker of a gain in mpg.

View 3 RepliesInstalled the Riffraff gauge kit and the check engine light came on about 20 miles after install and the Ex now randomly has a hard jolting miss, just for a second then its gone. Took it about 4 or 5 times of the jolting miss then the check engine light came on.
Could something have been unplugged or could the manifold air intake heater delete be causing the light. Ran fine until the gauge install. I remember reading something about the ground for the manifold air intake heater being a issue if not care full. I could not get the dam thing off so tapped the end and left it. The ground post kept spinning not allowing the ground to come loose. This thing is becoming a pit I cant feed fast enough.
If I can figure this out before Monday that would be great. If not I am tired of dicking with it and am just going to take it in. Don't have a scanner that will read the codes so SOL there. Unless there is some way to get them off with a flashing light sequence. I would love to find out how to do that. I don't want to drive it anymore than I have to as if one more thing goes wrong with this dam thing........
I just purchased a 2000 f150 4x4 with a 5.4 automatic... it ran great for a few days and even ran fine on the 100+mile trip home from the previous owners house. All the sudden it shut down on the highway today. I could barely get it started again and when it did start, it ran like hell, bucking and jolting, almost like a really bad misfire. I could also smell trans fluid being heated up, so I let it sit awhile and then it fired right up. It drove for about a half mile and began to act up again. I threw it in second gear to limp it home which it died several times on. Each time I'd let it sit for like 15 minutes with the negative battery cable off. It fires right up after that but the problem quickly returns. Also the overdrive button doesn't work, and the trans control switch fuse (spot 29) blows repeatedly. Also the power door locks do not work.

Swapped coil from cylinder #3 to cylinder #6 and fuel injector from #3 to #2.
Shows misfire is still on #3. Plug looks normal tan brown.
#3 is the middle cylinder closest to the firewall I take it.
I am thinking about rewiring the fog lights on my 07 f150 to run some off road lights. Do the wiring can handle two 6" lights? Not sure of the wattage yet for the lights....

View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 F150 (2wd) with 80k. My truck recently was vibrating under braking so i took it to my mechanic to have the brakes fixed. All the rotors needed to be replaced. In doing so, the front rotors were changed out with the kit that converts the front rotor/bearing assembly into two separate pieces to cut down on maintenance costs in the future. With this being said, after getting this work done, the truck didn't vibrate anymore... that is until i got it out on the highway. Now the truck vibrates from about 45-50 and 70-80 pretty bad. The steering wheel shakes back and forth too. I have gotten the tires balanced in hopes to fix this problem which it didnt. What could this problem be?
View 4 RepliesSo last night my trans have out, going up a slight grade, all of a sudden the engine revved and I had no more 3rd gear. I've done some research, looks like rebuilding it is the only option. I've got my Mustang GT to drive in the meantime, so I am thinking of rebuilding it myself. The truck is an '07 F150 5.4 2WD.
View 7 Repliesi have a 2007 F150 Fx4, with 94,000 miles. When I hit the speed of around 40-45 and I step on the gas it starts to chug until I press harder down the it gets out and runs just fine. The thing that confuses me is it doesn't always do it. Id say about 3 times a week. I am replacing my fuel filter tomorrow. I purchased this truck with 85k on it, and this just started happening. The spark plugs have never been changed. And am thinking about taking it in to get those done too. I also tested all my injectors and they are all working. No codes have been thrown either.
View 6 RepliesI have a bit of a question about my 2007 Ford F-150 w/ the 5.4 3V. I don't know how long it's been doing this, I just happened to notice it not long ago. Whenever I rev the truck (doesn't matter if it's in Park or Drive) in between 800-1,000 RPMs it makes a "rattle" type sound - like a "rat-tat-tat-tat" I guess is one way of putting it. It only does it when the engine is hot, it won't do it when it cools down some. The truck has 63,000 miles and I've always ran the recommended 5W-20 weight oil. Engine runs good, no power-loss or anything like that. I have posted a video on YouTube of the sound. It appears the odometer backlight problem has been around for a long time, aon many models. 2007 f150 Supercrew? Just had the engine replaced under warrenty at 35600 miles. Just as soon as I get 50 miles out of warranty the the odometer light goes out.

I know nothing about vehicles as far as exhaust and tire size. But what i want to ask is what is causing my 2007 ford f150 4.6l to rev up while in drive while im just costing. see i was at about 20-30 miles per hour and almost to 2 rpms and repeatedly my truck would rev in the range of 20 to 30 miles per hour for about 1 seconds but would go back to normal after that rev. I rely on my truck for work and also while I was in Park at a target parking lot my truck began to rev up Wow and park I don't know what is causing this....
