2006 STX 4.6 .... I recently changed my oil a couple of weeks back. I've noticed spots of oil on the driveway. I thought it may be coming from the oil pan drain plug but i checked it and it seems to be coming from where the transmission connects to the engine. Lotta oil on the bell housing. That's where it looks like it's dripping off of. Could it be the rear main seal?
View 1 RepliesMy 2006 f150 was making a noise that's coming from the engine. It sound like rocks in the engine. When I'm going 50-60 MPH the engine starts to make a sounds like rocks in the engine. What's happening. When I go about 40 it stops.
View 12 RepliesI haven't had time to take my truck to the dealer to actually be checked yet but it appears I might have a rear main seal going out from what I can see. I pressure washed the whole underside of my truck the other day and there is fresh oil where the engine connects to the transmission.
My truck is a 2011 with a 2013 engine in it. The truck has 103,900 miles on it. The engine has almost 60,000 miles on it. I have the extended warranty on it which is good. All this truck has to do is last 2 more lousy months and I'll replace it.

I have an 07 with a 4r75e transmission that has developed a leak. The truck has 60,000 miles on it. I looked under the truck and it is not leaking from the pan. I plan to put on stands and get under it tomorrow to see if I can find the leak. Where I might check for the leak?
View 6 RepliesI am a new owner of a 2004 F-150 FX4. Bought the truck with a leaking power steering and I have isolated the root cause of the leak. It is coming from the "transfer line" attached to the center of the rack. The top portion has simply rotted through. I have searched the forum and google for about a week and only found one thread where someone actually asked about replacing the hard line on the rack. Unfortunately, no one chimed in with a part source and all my searches only come up with a HP line or Return line....no hard transfer line leading from the rack to the gear box.

View 4 RepliesMy 2006 F150 Lariat screw has a passengers side water leak that runs down under the passengers side dashboard on to the fuse box , electrical connections , etc... My rug is soaked ....
I thought it was the ac / defroster condensation drain issue covered in the TSB and did that fix ( not an easy job ! ), but that's not it. I sprayed water on the passengers side windshield and watched it leak on the inside. I broke down and took it to the dealership and they can't find the leak . They still have my truck ! They don't think it's a windshield leak and I don't either .
I have a 2006 F150 screw 4.6 auto 116k miles that has evidence of a small coolant leak where the intake manifold joins the head. This is on the drivers side directly under the thermostat housing. The t-stat housing is dry and the hoses all appear dry. It's just wet right at the gasket where the manifold joins the head. Reservoir is still normal so it's not leaking too much just yet.
I searched this site and youtube but didn't find any other posts. Lots of problems with older trucks with composite manifolds but nothing for this one. It looks like a part of the bottom of the manifold is plastic but the entire top and where it is leaking is all aluminum.
It seems odd that this would start in the winter time just driving back and forth to work (no load). And, yes the antifreeze is good. Just wondering if this is a known issue with this truck. Is it just a matter of replacing the gaskets or is there some other flaw I should be concerned about?
2008 F150 HD Payload package with 5.4L and 4spd auto, 61,000 miles.
Recently developed a whining sound coming from the transmission or somewhere else in the drivetrain. Does not sound like rear axle because it changes pitch with the change of gears. I proved this by disengaging OD while driving and the whine was higher pitched once the transmission down shifted. I did some other research and found a reference to the #9 bearing going bad in a 4R75 trasnmission in a Crown Victoria. I am going to fight for any repair to be covered by the powertrain warranty even though it just clicked 61,000. The dealer has done ALL maintenance on this truck since it was new (following severe duty recommendations).
I have a 2001 F150 Super Crew 5.4. I had a leak where the water transfer connects to the intake manifold. I decided to get a new manifold rather than trying to repair it. The new manifold from Dorman came and the gaskets were built into the manifold. I torqued the manifold to specs. I replaced everything and it starts fine.
I can hear what sounds like a leak, but can't find anything. I checked every hose that is connected and they are all snug and connected. I had the check engine light checked and it said it was running lean on both sides (p0174, p0171). Also a p0122. I thought something might have damaged the Throttle Body Position Sensor, so I replaced it...but no change.
I'm still driving it everyday because I need to. It won't change gears so smoothly sometimes. The most noticeable problem is that the A/C doesn't work. It just blows hot air. And the worst part about it is...it does it even when the air isn't turned on! I just go around with the windows down...in 95+ degree heat...with hot air blowing!
This is my first time to attempt a manifold change out. What I should check?
I have an 06 with a 5.4 with 70k on it and I have already had to do the exhaust manifolds twice, once covered by warrantee at 19k, then again around 40k and now at 74k I have a major leak from the left side manifold again
View 1 Replies2008 5.4 ... Well got a new issue now. Noticed last night that I have a leak of some sort from the front of the engine. I have the 08 5.4 4x4 with 70k miles for the background info. The leak is coming from the front of the oil pan area unless it's running down the engine from somewhere I can't see yet. The fluid appears to be more like power steering. My oil is at the end of it's cycle so it is a little dark but the fluid leak is clear to a slight yellow and pretty thin in consistency. I've rubbed it between my fingers and the texture does not feel like oil. First I wanted to see if you guys have had a similar leak before I really start tearing into things and do you think it's possible to have power steering fluid leak that far forward on the engine? I've checked the fluid levels and they appear fine but this leak did just start and came on pretty quickly. I plan to take a photo tonight and re-post that. Have oil pan seal to start leaking because I know that's pretty rare on most vehicles but nothing seems rare on this vehicle.
View 6 RepliesI just got an Egde Evo which I installed and everything looked great. After a few runs, I noticed the ABS light coming on an soon after that my transmission goes to limp mode (the wrench lights up).
I receive the DTC error: P2106 on the Edge Evo.
I have gone back to Factory default, but it keeps coming back, ie. the ABS light lights up and the Trans goes to Forced Limited Power (according to the Evo).
just picked up a high mile f-150. (146,000) 4x4 light not coming on. jumpered out the vacuum solenoid first, nothing. Then found out I could try to tap on the actuator motor at transfer case. It worked. Just wondering if i keep exercising the actuator motor, if it will continue to work, sounds like the previous owner did not put it in 4x4 for a long time. also, if needed, where is a good place to purchase the replacement actuator motor? If this truck has heated seats ( it is a lariat) , where is it controlled from? Seems to ride a little rougher than i expected. new tires, but it seems a little harsh. I have an f-350 as well. it seems to ride just about as good.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 F150 4x4. When the engine an transmission is cold it jerks/ Bogs when it shifts. After it warms up it doesn't jerk to bad sometimes but you can still notice it. Also when it shifts the RPM's drop low causing it to bog and jerk. RPM's will go from 1600 to about 800 when it shifts. It is and auto transmission. Today I wanted to try something so I pressed the button to turn the over drive off. Well it shift real good with the OD Off. Seem like with the OD Off it keeps the RPM's up a little higher so it doesn't bog and jerk. I put an Edge Programmer on it, but that didn't work. Still does the same thing with or without the programmer. I changed all my spark plug and coil packs. Truck goes great until it shifts.
View 1 RepliesOn my 06 Mark LT I have a buzzing noise of outside air coming in the cab on the passenger side. I have had the grinding vent door actuator problem fixed in the past so I am not sure if it is related. The buzzing gets louder as I go faster, such as on the highway. Where to look?
View 3 RepliesWe have a 2006 Civic and there appears to be a coolant leak coming from the engine block above the started motor, so it is hard to see clearly. The kids are about to leave for Atlanta (from Iowa) and I am concerned that this could be a crack in the block based on some on-line discussion. Is it risky to send the kids on a 1000 mile trip without fixing?
View 6 RepliesOK so I noticed the last few weeks that I have just a small shutter coming from my rear end every now and then. It feels like it locks up for just a sec and then is fine. It will normally do this earlier in the day and maybe once or twice. Is this telling me its time to add some more friction modifier into the rear diff or do I have another issue. I don't notice it once the truck is warmed up and been driving around some.

While servicing the bosses 121k 6.0, I noticed the coolant resevoir empty. It took 1 1/2 gallons to bring to proper level. Returning under truck to install drain plug, I noticed coolant coming from rear of the engine(right side). And of course Ford has changed the cooling system cap, so I wasn't able to pressure test it to pinpoint the leak. Started the engine and seen coolant coming from the left rear as well. I've been reading here to see what others have been seeing, (EGR cooler, head gaskets). With all the heat shields,not much room to look.
After work I did go and buy the adapter to test the cooling system. With any luck I will be able to see leak better.
