I have a 2006 F-150 Supercab King Ranch 4wd. The 4wd is not working. Took it to the dealer and they tell me the 4wd module is not communicating with the PCM. It is my understanding that this problem is rare...like 1 in a million. Ford wants to replace the entire PCM. In the past, I have had electrical problems with this vehicle due to corroded wires.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 F150 4x4 5.4L 43000mi. My four wheel drive is not working. I have the dash mounted switch to switch it into 4x4 Hi 4x4 Low. When I put the switch into 4x4 Hi nothing happens. 4x4 does not engage, and the 4x4 Hi light on the dash does not illuminate. I get the same symptom when the switch is placed into 4x4 Low. I have checked all of the 4x4 fuses and they are ok. I checked all of the vacuum lines to the hubs and they appear to be intact. What I should check next? What would cause this?
View 14 RepliesAbout a month ago, I was driving 50 mph in my 06 screw on a dirt road. There was an old wood bridge that was not as flush as I was expecting. Jolted the truck pretty good but it kept on trucking. However, a few seconds after the jolt, the power to the AC cut out. All I had to do was turn the AC to "off" then back on and it'd start working fine. Over the last month, the power randomly cuts out, but will go back on after I switch to "off" then back on. It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times since The Big Jolt.

I have a 2006 Ford F-150 with about 43,000 miles .. love it. However, my driver side window stopped working today. For about the past month when you would power up, it would delay and then go up. This happened every so often. Going down was never a problem. Some times window would go up, then drop down an inch or so. Now this morning I went to the store and the window won't go up and it is down all the way. I do not hear grinding, only clicking. All other windows work fine.

Light continues to flash. New diagnostics from dealer says error code 1885 - the control restraint module needs replacing in P&L. Does the code match the fix? Can a novice mechanic replace the module?
View 2 RepliesFirst it was the whole spark plug debacle. Now it's the "fuel pump module". Story starts a several months back. On a moist day I was headed out and the truck ran very rough, "clunky", like it wasn't getting gas. After 15 miles and a stop truck ran fine. Didn't think much of it and truck ran fine for month or so. I was then away for a couple days and came home to find my truck wouldn't run (started briefly then died). Local mechanic thought it might be a fuel pump issue but then got truck running thinking it might have been a delayed inertia switch in front panel (I had hit a deer a week or 2 prior). Again, not thinking much of it continued to drive truck with no issues for awhile. Then one rainy morning on my way to work the truck was running very rough and "clunky" again. It died several times and finally for good.
After getting it towed to the mechanics, he figured the fuel pump was finally shot. The end to my long story is it was the fuel pump module (luckily a lot cheaper fix than the fuel pump) - half of the housing was gone (corroded away) adn moisture was shorting the pump electronics. Why, if this module is half encased in plastic do the engineers feel the need to encase the other half in metal (appeared to be cast aluminum)??!!????!! Of course it makes sense to have an electrical unit that is mounted underneath the truck where it can collect all the moisture, snow, salt from the road encased in a corrodable metal housing. No no, don't put it all in plastic, just half of the unit. MAKES PERFECT SENSE!! I thought to be and engineer took some sort of brains and common sense. Must be not at Ford. I can't be the only one with this issue and wondering WHY!!! - it must be widespread??
Where is the Throttle Actuator Control Module Processor on a 2008 5.4L? Is it built into the throttle body, or integrated into the PCM?

My power windows have stopped working from all locations. I checked and the fuses are good. I can no longer use the exterior keypad to unlock the truck, yet my remote keyring switch will electronically open both driver and passenger doors. Neither driver's nor passenger's interior door switches work.
Driving home my radio quit working. I looked at the gauges and they all dropped to the left. The it looked like my lights quit working and then the truck just quit. All of this happened within 5 miles and 10 minutes. I jumped it and quit before I could even get going, it did start momentarily. Could not even get the gear shift into neutral; had to jump it to get that to happen.
It is 2006 F150 4x4, 5.4L engine and about 95,000 miles.
My rear passengers side turn signal is not working. The bulb is lit up when i have my parking lights on so i know that th bulb is good. So my guess is that there is a voltage issue. I have searched the web for a wiring diagram and have come up empty handed.
View 2 RepliesI just replaced two bad modules in my 2006 (125K mile) traction battery. I replaced one other module a year ago successfully. I installed the battery last night and tried to charge it with my Hybrid Automotive charger. The charger would not go into charging mode. So I decided to check the idiot lights on the dash - plug in key and push the power button - every light on the dash lit up and stayed lit. The battery charge indicator in the display on the dash had most of the blue bars filled. I left the power on for several minutes and the engine never started (usually does regardless of state of battery charge for a minute or two when you first power up the Prius).

As I understand it, the PAT module communicates wirelessly to the key module under the steering column. Since the PAT module is obviously working (the truck cranks, starts and runs fine). What are they talking about?
My 2 remotes quit working at the same time. Tried to reprogram following method on the forum, but I dont get the lock/unlock on the 8th key cycle.

The power windows do not work up or down either side, no door chime or pdl either.i think this is related to the gem module cause I have run a 12 v to the motor itself in the door and it goes up and down.checked all fuses and switched relays.I don't even hear any clicking relays.I have spliced into the orang/white wire at the 2pin connector to the motor and have hooked it to a purple wire on the back of the window switch and now have pdl,and door chime,and hear clicking under dash but still no windows.What am I missing is there another wire to splice into?
