My 2005 f150 extended cab / supercab front doors wont close fully. The light on the dash goes off, but you can see the door is still open in the mirror. It also sounds open. The rear doors are fine.
View 6 RepliesI currently have an 05 Limited X and I've also noticed this on other 05 X's as well. The front driver and passenger side doors near the lower end with the cladding doesn't seem to match up with the rear doors. This goes for both driver and passenger front doors. I at first thought maybe it was just on the X I have but this is something I've taken notice of on just about all of the 05 Limited's I've looked at. What I'm referring to with the front doors being popped out a small bit and not matching up or being perfectly aligned with the rear doors?
I've had an 01 Limited and the doors wasn't anywhere near how mis-aligned they seem to be on the 05 Limited's. I haven't checked years between or XLT's. But on almost or pretty much all 05 Limited's I'm noticing this. Some are not as bad as others or as noticeable as others. But for some reason they all seem to pop out a little towards the bottom. When I speak of doors I'm referring to the doors itself, not the cladding/molding sticking out.
Weird issue started last night--I have an 08 and when you go to lock the doors the two front doors will not lock--you can see them jog a little but do not lock.. The back doors and rear lock fine. also I have them set to auto lock after you take off and again all lock but the front doors?
View 9 RepliesI have been having an issue with my blinker for the past few months. When the blinker is fully engaged, the right front blinker doesn't work. If I just push up on the blinker so it doesn't fully click into place, the right front blinker works fine, so it is not a burnt out bulb. I have also checked my blinker light in my mirrors and they work fine. Left blinker works fine. I am stumped on to what this can be and I need to get it inspected. 2005 F-250...
View 3 Repliesthis is my brothers truck 05 f-150 4x4, i put brakes front and back and flushed the system about six months ago now. the other day when he was coming home from college the front passenger tire locked up. he drove it home and i went over took it apart nothing was sticking put it back together and it was fine. now today he call it stuck again so i just pulled it apart, pads are now purple from the heat, pins are free, caliper moves i put a small piece of wood in it and had him press the brakes the caliper moved out and i pused it back in, reinstalled everything and its not stuck no more. what do you think is causing this? my uncle says it could be the abs box acting up, when he bought the truck my dad made him buy the extended warrenty but he wont pay the 100 dollar deductible because this past winter we all went out in the two foot of snow and he got stuck so i pulled him out and our dad says thats what f$ucked his brakes up so now his is pissed. so how can i fix this for him? oh it only has 42k on it
View 7 Replies2005 FX4 truck. Doesn't click when going straight, but if turning wheel like turning into or out of a parking spot, it makes a clicking noise that gets faster as you get faster. It sounds almost like a baseball card in a bicycle spoke honestly. Don't know if its related, but about 3 months before i noticed the sound I had the Rancho quick lift struts installed on the truck. Somebody told me it could be wheel bearings but in my experience a wheel bearing will make a roaring noise, and it would roar while going straight down the road. This is only when turning the wheels. Also, it doesn't matter if you turn left or right, you can hear it both directions.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2005 f150 and it will not engage the front hubs. It is a manual shift on the fly not electric. I have done some checking and this is what i have found so far. Pull the lever into 4H, dash light comes on, IWE's do not lock onto axle. Same for 4L. The transfer case does come in when lever is pulled into either 4H or 4L. Front end up on jack stands, engine off. Turn either wheel and axle turns with it as it should. Start engine, turn either wheel and it is free from axle, as it should be. so there is vacuum going to IWE when engine is on. Not sure what to check next. Is the vacuum solenoid on the firewall bad?? Is there something not getting activated when i pull the floor lever back?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Supercrew 4X2 with 110,000 miles on it. Lately I've noticed at 30 mph and up if I steer to the left I get a growling noise from the left front. When I straighten up or steer right it goes away. I don't feel anything in the steering wheel or seat of the pants...just this growling noise during a left steer. Tires are about half wore out...I went ahead and rotated them to see if the growl moved. It didn't, stays in the left front.
Does that sound like the bearings in the rotor are on the way out? It won't stop raining so I haven't had a chance to jack it up and see if I have I have play in that tire/wheel. I thumbed through my Haynes manual and it seems pretty straight forward to replace the rotor. New rotors/bearings, one time use nut, might as well do pads while I'm in there, torque nut to 275 ft. lbs. Am I on the right track? Any other way to diagnose this growl? Is the R&R of the rotor as easy as it sounds? Tips or trick, things I should know that Haynes isn't telling...
My 2005 F150 is making a thumping noise in the front end. It increases as speed increases and is more pronounced when turning wheel left and almost goes away when turning to the right. Sometimes at higher speeds I can feel it in the gas pedal. Seems to be coming more from the driver side but I could be wrong On that.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 F150 4x4, with just over 75K, and I have owned it from new. I am having left front brake issues. The left front brake seems to drag, but of course does not do it consistentally or after a given type of braking event. It just does it very randomly. I originally replaced the caplier pins thinking one may have been hanging up. It seemed to fix the issue for a couple months then it happened again. So doing more inquiry it seems some have had issues with the front rubber lines.
I just had both front lines replaced with OEM Ford parts and the system flushed out at a dealer. The brakes again seemed to work fine driving home from the dealer anto work today. Then on the way home it did it again, started dragging. The truck starts to feel sluggish while accelerating and slows very quickly just lifting off the gas. then when you get out you feel the wheel and it is very HOT and you can hear a heat popping sound. (First time it happened it was smoking it got so hot.) Right side seemsfine.
Since it does it so randomly I am at a loss. I can not just drop it off at the dealer and say drive it until it. I am considering having the caliper replaced, which I really considered when it was at the dealer for the hoses since I had the IWE's done at the same time, so they were off.
I have a 2005 ford f150 supercab 4x4, and around feb I replaced all the ball joints my self, and now recently when back with the wheels turned turned to the left and then put it in drive and turn the wheels all the way right and give it has to take off there is a popping noise that comes from the driver side front wheel and it just does it once I take off and quit . I've looked and everything and cant see anything that would cause this. And know when I put it in park and it rolls forward I can hear a popping noise that sounds likes it coming from the rear end. I had my rear rebuilt, with new pinion bearing and race, a new axle on the pass side with bearing and the shop told me that it the driver side is questionable on the axle but it has new bearing also, they also told me that it needs a carrier case cause it had groves wore in it where the axle bearings wore out so much. at the time I could afford to have them to replace the carrier case. what would cause the popping from the front end and now the popping in the rear end.

It was a cool morning and the truck was sat for 24 hours, I have read some post about how that could be the reason. I was also told that adding a quart of lucas in place of one of the (motorcraft synthetic) quarts.
View 3 RepliesMy 05 f150 is lift with a 6" skyjacker lift I've only had it a week from the dealership when it stopped firing on cylinder 8 which is a lil problem easy to fix,but then it started clunking around turns in the front and rear end. So I took it the dealer and 3 days later they give it back. It's running good but its still clunking in the front they said they changed the cv joints and tie rod ends but after I got home. I inspected it they changed one damn tie rod and that was it. Is it the tie rod end that's still making the noise?
View 1 RepliesSo there seems to be an issue with the sunroof already ( 2 weeks since ownership) . In UP/ DOWN mode it will not fully close and causes wind noise. With up down I'm referring to the tilt functionality. I don't get the message sunroof open when leaving vehicle however.
The work around is for me to open the sunroof in the horizontal mode and then close it again to get a proper seal and to eliminate wind noise. In the image you can see that the rear part of the moonroof sits lower than the metal roof....
Read the manual. performed reset. The reset made no difference. So basically to remedy the situation one either must open and close the sunroof or after closing it from tilt mode bump the button to make the moon roof rear part raise and become flush with the roof panel.
My ashtray has been open for as long as I can remember because when I close it, it rattles. I have a Lariat with the center console. What should be done to fix ashtray rattle, pics would be useful.
View 4 RepliesSo once in a while, a full press (either up or down) on the drivers side window button does not cause the window to fully open or close fully as it should... I'm wondering if this is something (a "feature") I'm somehow activating and just don't know it, or what. If I roll the window all the way up (needing the hold the button up until the window is all the way up), it will then behave normally--a full press down, release, and the window will go all the way down. This just started in the last month or so...
View 10 RepliesMy 05 Supercrew 4X4 with 172k miles started making a horrible noise these last couple days. It sounds like its coming from the front passenger side area. The best I can describe is that it sounds like an electric tool motor with bad bearings. I'll be driving along at 45mph or above and every now and then I'll hear a really bad bearing squeal. It's bad enough that I can feel the extra friction caused by the squeal start to slow my truck down. It's vehicle speed related. I know what a bad wheel bearing sounds like and this is nothing like that. It's gotten bad enough I'm nervous to drive anywhere.
View 4 RepliesI've got a 2006 F150 King Ranch with rear power slider that opens but won't close. After looking more closely, the bracket holding the 'close' cable is cracked and the cable end keeps pulling out. Can I just remove the sliding window/bracket and repair the holder with JB Weld or am I looking at replacing the entire back window to enjoy the convenience?
