Over the last couple months when I started driving, I noticed that the cruise control wasn't working at all. The next time I would start it was working again. It "stopped" working a few times.
The last time it stopped working was about a week ago, and hasn't worked since. I have read about horn relay fuses, tail light fuses, some sort of module on the engine. Where should I start?
I have a 2003 F150 4x4. One day my cruise control was working fine and the next it wouldn't work at all. When I push the set button the little green light in the dash blinks on then off and the cruise won't set. Any way that I can check to see what it might be myself or am I going to have to pay a dealer to fix it?

Turns out that if the third brake light (back of the cab) goes out, so does the cruise control. Don't know why. I replaced the bulb, and cruise works. I was fortunate that this super cheap fix worked for me. If your cruise control stops turning on, check that cheap little bulb!
I have a 2004 Santa Fe GLS that the cruise control just stopped working. It will not turn on when I press the ON button. Could it be a blown fuse? I recently had a new AC compressor installed. Could it be related to that? Maybe something didn't get plugged back in?
View 1 RepliesMy 04 f150 fx4 has some cruise control issues. The cruise doesn't work at all and the self test doesn't do anything on my truck either. I tested the disengage switch which tested good but replaced it anyway. I've checked all brake lights and replaced the 3rd light which was burned out. I've unplugged the brake switch and reconnected in case of loose connection with no luck. I removed the brake switch and tested as follows.
Top to bottom pins 1-6 for sake of this discussion. Pins 1 and 2 no continuity until brake button is pressed. Pins 3 and 4 are blank so no test performed. Pins 5 and 6 tested the same as 1 and 2 so am I correct in saying the switch is good? My truck will shift through all gears and back without ever applying the brakes. Bad shift interlock inside the shift console? I haven't torn into that yet but it's the only thing left I can think of. Is there any tests to be run on it with a multimeter?
I just bought this truck, a 2004 F150 Lariat, 4x4. It is in great shape, but seems to have a problem with the cruise control... I have been reading different things, but one thing I just discovered is that with the key ON, the brake pedal NOT depressed, I can shift the truck into gear. I know that's not right. So am I needing that switch above the brake pedal and will that fix my cruise control as well?

I haven't worked on this year before so I'm not familiar with the layout under the hood. Also, is there a brake pressure sensor on the 04 (new style) like there is on the '03 and below style? there isn't one on my master cylinder, so where would it be? Where to look? Why the cruise wouldn't be working?

View 14 RepliesMy speedometer stopped working yesterday after i replaced the 2 cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When i connected the the battery the horn started blasting and I went over tap the horn then it stopped. Then i noticed that the horn did not work anymore. I put back the original cruise control buttons and still did not work .So know instead of fixing the cruise control buttons, I broke the horn and the speedometer while the cruise control is still broken. I checked the fuses and they all are good. What can it be ?
View 6 RepliesI have a 1994 Ford Explorer and the cruise control stopped working about a year ago. The horn still works. I changed the fuse but it's still not working. My mechanic checked the cruise control, and was able to determine it was either the clock spring or the control module located above the glove box. He told me it was most likely a bad clock spring, especially considering the number of miles on the truck (385,000). However, in speaking with a Ford dealership parts department, the '94 Ford Explorer does not have a clock spring. So, I'm back to square one.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 F250 5.4 3V Triton work truck that the tail lights will not work on. When I turn my lights on, the front running lights come on but no tail lights. I have brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, but no tail lights. I have checked all my fuses, checked the wiring and even replaced the bulbs, but still no tail lights. I turned my lights on and pulled the fuse that powered them and the parking lamps on the front went off, I replaced the fuse and they came back on but still no tail lights. I got pulled over by a state trooper because of it so I would really like to get to the bottom of this.

Attempted to do a self test on the cruise control. Holding the OFF button did nothing. Never went into diagnostic mode. Button ? A different fuse?
View 14 RepliesI have a 1999 Super Duty 5.4l Manual transmission 4x4 105,000 miles the cruise control stopped working a month ago, I didn't think much of it because I frankly don't use cruise as this vehicle is usually used to tow and I don't run cruise towing.
Long story short I went to tow my camp trailer and noticed my brake controller was not actuating the trailer brakes when I braked, the controller is showing connected and when I manually actuate the controller its working, so I knew I had a brake light issue, I checked the brakes and sure enough I have no functioning brake lights.
I bought a Motorcraft OEM brake pedal switch and replaced it to no avail,I have also checked the applicable fuses they are fine. I have a master cylinder cruise control switch to change but have my doubts this is the issue since the brake lights and cruise are non functional.
2002 f350 7.3 diesel automatic. The cruise stopped about a 1/2 year ago and i have done the recall and replaced the steering wheel switch. but it still doesn't work. the horn works and speedometer works.
