I have a '00 Ford ranger and a '99 f-150 , when leaving the doors open , interior lights go off after 10-15 minutes in the ranger but not on my 150. Is there a relay or something aftermarket that makes this possible on the 150 ?
View 3 RepliesInterior lights are sometimes staying on for 30 minutes after all doors have been closed. Thought it was the back hatch, but now seems to be random. I've cleaned the latches and lubricated with no luck. What else could be causing this?? A relay, computer.
2004 6.0 diesel Limited Excursion 4x4
The interior lights on my '03 X do not turn on when any of the doors are opened. All of the lights work when the dimmer switch is flipped and when the individual switches are flipped on. The lights also turn on automatically when ignition is turned in the off position after running. Where should I begin to look to get this resolved?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2005 Excursion V10 4WD Eddie Bauer edition. Within the past month I have noticed that the interior dome lights and running board lights don't always come on when I open the doors. The dimmer switch is set to the highest level without being turned on and all of the dashboard lights work. I turn the dimmer switch on and sometimes the interior lights work and sometimes they don't. The door switch seems to be in good shape as well. If I turn the dome lights on individually they work so I know that there is not a problem with the bulbs. Where I can look for the problem?
View 3 RepliesI was getting something from the Santa Fe last night and noticed that the interior lights didn't come on when I opened the door. Further investigation found that they don't illuminate with any of the four doors (despite the door ajar light coming on in the dash), but the lights do come on when set to "ON", so the bulbs and fuse(s) are fine. The model year is 2001.
View 2 RepliesI've got an '05 burb that for a couple weeks now the interior lights will not come on when you open any doors. Just tonight I went to start it and it took a couple tries and finally did, but I noticed that the clock had been reset almost like the battery had been drained.
I drove it to my destination and just let it run for about 30 min thinking it needed to charge (nothing had drained it that was obvious to me). I had to go back out and it did the same thing, started hesitantly and the clock had been reset.
When I open the doors, my dome light does not come on. How can i fix this? Also, my truck has cruise control, when i set it and it engages, no indicator light comes on on the dash. Is that normal?

Yesterday I changed two burned out light-bulbs in the a/c control panel. When I tested them after dark they worked as designed. An hour or so later my brother-in-law called me to tell me my interior lights were on. When I walked out to check the lights were off. This morning my wife drove the truck to the store and called me to tell me the interior lights were staying on. Didn't have this problem before replacing those burned out bulbs.
View 2 RepliesI have a 1997 ford f-150 flareside 4x4 and the interior lights have not worked since I purchased the truck.I checked the bulb and it was burnt out so I replaced it and still does not work.
The truck was hit on the 3rd door on the passenger side before I bought it and I think they may have done something to keep the interior light from coming on by accident when not shutting the door all the way.
I checked the number 14 fuse which is where I think the interior fuse it on this truck, what I could check to be my problem?

View 7 RepliesI'm trying to get an F150/1997 started that's been sitting for about 2 years. After installing the battery, turning the key, nothing happens. No click, no turnover, nothing. The dash lights come on along with open door chime.
What to check first or troubleshoot this? The vehicle was running fine when parked, battery removed. I was thinking the brake pedal switch might be corroded, or maybe someone unplugged something under the hood or tampered with something.
When the rear window was up, the interior lights stayed on. I couldn't find the valet switch to depress/turn them off. How can I turn off the interior lights while the back window is open? I have only had the Excursion for a month so I am still figuring it all out.

I do a lot of camping, and having the doors open with the music playing is a real nice feature of my truck (2007 F-150 Super Crew 4X4), vut the fact that every internal light stays on just beats the heck out of the battery.
I would love to know if there is something that can be done to have them 'dim off' after the doors have stayed open for a certain amount of time.
I have a 2012 F350 and the interior lights and cargo light do not turn on when I open my doors. The maps lights work if I manually turn them on. Why this happens and how to correct this issue?
View 2 RepliesOk, I was reading the one on the V8s, but not sure with the V6s. First off, let me tell you what has been done. I replaced fuel and oil filters, Plentum seal, and bolts, replaced plug wires, and coilpacks, and the PCV valve. I can't remember what else I did, but it was before Spring Break last year when my daughter and I were taking a trip across the US to pick up a motorcycle and do site seeing. Anyways, before I did all of this, the truck was getting to the point where I could not get it over 45 or it would feel like the trany was going. When I pulled the plugs out, they were running lean. I have had my Check engine light pop on with the Cam Pos Sen, but I have replaced that. That code has never came back, but it is still running lean, and backfiring in the intake when leaving a stop. I am wondering if the fuel pump may be going out, or what else it might by. I work on older cars with carbs, so not all that sure with the injection stuff.

In my Expedition we could turn the little button next to the headlights switch to adjust brightness in the controls and speedometer and turn all the way til it clicks for off but doesn't work here.
View 11 RepliesIf I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..

View 7 RepliesThe headlights went out on the automatic "arrive home mode" more than the programmed 15 seconds. The interior overhead and foot lights took as much as 5 minutes to cease and desist.
